Bjork - Volta (2007)

I saw this torrent last night and I wondered what kind of music this artist made, i thought it would be some kind of crazy weird music but its not all that bad, the singing is pretty freaky lol but it kind of reminds me of Gwen Stefani a bit. Three tracks were co-produced by Timbaland and I got to say its kinda different from what he normally does but I like it. Bjorks new album drops on the 8th of may which is about a weeks time. Anyone who wants to try something different should really check this album out.

Volta is Bjork’s sixth studio album and follows the release of Medulla in 2004 featuring ten new and original tracks, Volta is written and produced by Bjork, with three tracks co-produced with Timbaland and Mark Bell.

In the role of producer Bjork has brought in various other musicians to work on her songs and Volta features some of her most interesting collaborations so far with Antony Hegarty (Antony And The Johnsons) singing on two tracks, and Timbaland working with Bjork on beats that she created for three further songs. Other artists that feature on Volta include electronic pioneer Mark Bell of LFO and two unique drummers Chris Corsano (the improvisational drummer who has worked with Sonic Youth amongst others) and Brian Chippendale from Lightening Bolt. Bjork also brought in two acclaimed African artists for Volta Toumani Diabate, the Malian kora player and Konono No1 the experimental band from The Congo who won a BBC World Music Award in 2006. She has also put together her own 10 piece female brass section of Icelandic musicians who play on three further tracks. Meanwhile Chinese pipa expert Min Xiao-Fen plays on one song.”

I like it, but contrary to what her label says, this new album is definitely not as good as her older albums.

She’s unique and OCD (if memory serves me right…. she couldn’t get enough of her old boyfriend…. she might of tried to cut…. she may of some hot blood in her some where) but nothing that would keep me from listening to this.

It’s kind of funny how people forget famous artists so quickly. Maybe mobile phones radiation has to do something with it? And who is Gwen Steffani? A football player?

Björk! WOW. Thanks for posting about her.

Simply put: if u can’t appreciate her genius, watch some “Dancer in the Dark”. Then listen to her past work. If u don;t like her after that , u’ll most likely don;t care for von Trier either. So u’ll need to go watch something like Stop that yard and listen to B Spears or something, cause that’s where u are right now, sadly…

    Cheers to “DaytonaUSA”.

Björk is too great and famous, its a suprise that some people dont know her, unless if they don’t know much about music other than pop crap.

Like her or not, she’s special, hard to listen to, i must say, but sure, she is way better and diferent than anything usual, so at least respect her.

lol.. this Björk was recording albums when that gwen stefani was still in junior high sucking her boyfriend’s cock in the parking lot. to even compare her to that sellout stefani is a travesty :D

When Bjork was releasing albums, starting with Sugarcubes, Gwen Stefani was nowhere on the map. Gwen Stefani shouldn’t be put in the same sentence as Bjork.

Please stay at reviewing your hip hop shit, if you don’t know bjork, and even have the nerve to compare her to gwen, you’ve got nothing to do listening to her. What she does is music, unlike all the shit I’ve seen you review so far…

Scott Björk is pronoced as “Bjeirk” (Bee-yerk) as in jerk.
As the Icelandic “ö” is said as “ei” in English.

I can’t bother to read what’s been written here but I understand someone compared Bjork with Gwen Stefani.

This comparison would utterly insult Bjork’s music and whoever made it obviously has no clue about music.
