Birthday Competition Round 1: FINAL RESULTS!

The much anticipated moment’s finally here! After going through 559 files including images, songs, videos, texts and more, we decided about the winners of our Birthday Competition! Let me tell you, it was a really hard job, because there were so many nice entries. I decided to give everyone in Releaselog’s staff a chance to pick his 3 favourite entries. After counting up all the votes, we have 3 clear winners which will have a chance to choose prize according to their rank. The another 7 people will be rewarded with a prize randomly assigned to them. We will mail all the winners in next few days and sort out shipping or delivering their prize.

There are many nice wallpapers and other amazing images, NFOs and songs - and it would be a shame to keep it for ourselves. So we decided to share all the entries with you! Here’s a torrent with all 559 files in one folder, through which you can easily browse and pick up your favourites or take a closer look at the winners in original resolution. You can use those images on your websites as well. We’re a filesharing site after all, aren’t we?

Okey, let’s get to the results! Please note that many of these images were resized from the original size, or represent just one entry of the author - we chose few people who sent in multiple entries and we picked up just the one to show it on our site. Thanks everyone who sent us his work. We hope the winners will like their prizes and those of you who didn’t win anything will have more luck in Round 2 for sure. Enjoy our 2nd Birthday.     I wish all the people who are saying “anyone could have done first place” would shut up, typography is an art and if its so easy why didnt you all do it and win yourselves? The point is that it is a nice, clean and colourful piece of art that gets the message across and is easily scalable for use as a wallpaper or even, as one person did earlier, a poster. I do however agree that entries 5 onwards are quite generic

    Nice. Downloading the torrent, hope I will get the 1st one in high res, then I’ll print it out, because it’s rly a very nice one.

    I don’t like the one with the girls, though (not that I prefer boys).

    Congrats to all entries and winners, but i personally think that number 2 or 6 should of won, im guessing since the number 1 position has a 2 for 2 years that you will have another competition when rlslog turns 3 yrs….

    damn, there was alot of the same ones, just diff.. colors, should of just been 1 post per person… nice job guys… i like #6 wat font was that u used? 7,8,and 9th i didnt really like, i dled the folder and looked at all of them. there was alot of good and bad ones.. and pretty much the same ones..

    All that’s loaded up into the .rar files are .jpg’s and .gif’s. I searched through a few and found no harmful information.

    I’m sure a bunch of peeps would be curious as to how the voting went down. I don’t mean what specific staff member voted for what but more like which pictures got how many votes including the ones that didn’t make the final cut. No?

    No disrespect, but many of those entries suck asscrack. The winning entry is bleh. I thought there would be some talent amongst the crowd and looked forward to seeing some nice work. Good to know about the embedded email/IP address’. I didnt think that 800 number would ever come in handy that rewards people for providing info but I’m sure RIAA will give me a better reward for giving them that list than some free T-Shirt. Thanks RLSLOG! ;D

    And to people saying that the first entry sucks, you have no appreciation for artistic value or creativity. The winner did not need outstanding photoshop skills. The idea itself was stellar and easy to execute.

    Sorry but i disagree with number 1 winning that could of been done in paint for all you know number 2 was done in 3D Studio Max it has got to be the hardest design software to use and seriously whoever did that has some serious talent goodwork number 2 in my eyes you are for sure the winner

    Just out of curiousity, how does one “extract information” from a logo?? I sent in several- qand since I am not concerned about legality, etc., I am about privacy… How do I hdie this stuff in the future and how exactly do you view it to begin with?? By the way, though looks and things like that are subjective to the viewer, great job to everyone!

    im sitting here with 5 people, and all of them agree that 2nd place was surely better than #1. I mean #1 did throw out a really creative cool idea, and number 2 (lol hahaha you’re #2 eww) anyhow… number 2 did simply use the same logo as before and nothing elaborate to it.. I do like it though; alot.

    Sooo why dont you let us all know what everyone won (1st through 10th place)

    #1 congrats to you, sorry that it seems the majority feels 2nd place was better than 1st places logo…

    cool idea for a contest and congrats to all you winning sucka’s… I won 42 inch plasma Samsung TV in verizons tv a day giveway announced back on Thanksgiving and never in my life have I won sh$t, well until then… so I hope you all enjoy your pimp new gadgets/stuff.

    @ internal & stocksrmythng, its nice to see that someone appreciates the effort i put into my rendering :)

    i thought, nobody tried to build the logo from scratch and just make it look better, instead of it, all contestants took a random font and made their pix.

    btw. rendertime was 8h for those who are interested ;)

    Ok, my 2 cents worth. This is MY opinion, so please don’t tell me i’m wrong :D

    My thought is that it depends on what the finished art would be used for as to what i think of them. #2 is best for a logo, i.e. to replace the one up top. However, as has already been mentioned, #1 is great as a logo on a t-shirt, or a poster or the like, or a one off event type thing. Like celebrating a birthday. The amount of skill required is irrelevant. Its the idea and the concept, and #1 & #2 executed their ideas superbly.

    Finally, well done to all the entrants. You are all infinately more skilled that I am, congratulations!!
