BioShock Behind the Scenes DVDRip XviD-GAMECAST

Bioshock is the all new hit-game that everyone wants. I noticed it being a very popular search on the net, and it seems to be hyped up well around the internet. So I decided to find out what all the fuss is about. So I got myself the behind the scenes documentary on bioshock and decided it’d be the laziest way to learn about what this game is all about. The documentary starts with Ken Levine, the creative director giving his words on how the name became into light. His aim was to build a first person shooter in a completely diferent direction, and build upon principles from games they have done before like system shock two. It was to be a game of immersion, world simulation, AI, and build up player choice from things he can see in the world. The interviews from the employees are done with a bluescreen on the background with static-footage from the game. The DVD comes form the Collector’s Edition (UK)/Limited Edition (NA) which includes a 6″ tall Big Daddy figurine, a “Making Of” DVD and a soundtrack CD. The soundtrack CD was reduced to an EP titled The BioShock EP and contains three tracks from the game remixed by Moby and Oscar The Punk.

There is now a torrent available and you can download this good release from usenet, thanks to CAMECAST for providing it. As for the quality of this rip, it is beyond perfect DVD quality with very clean, crisp audio. The resolution at helps keep the picture clear on fullscreen mode. Side-note: orlydb is back online after a few days, they were having some dns issues that are now resolved.

BioShock is the “genetically enhanced” first person shooter that lets you do things never before possible in the genre: turn everything into a weapon, biologically mod your body with plasmids, hack devices and systems, upgrade your weapons and craft new ammo variants, and experiment with different battle techniques in an incredible and unique underwater city. You are a cast-away in Rapture, an underwater Utopia torn apart by civil war. Caught between powerful forces, and hunted down by genetically modified “splicers” and deadly security systems, you have to come to grips with a deadly, mysterious world filled with powerful technology and fascinating characters. No encounter ever plays out the same, and no two gamers will play the game the same way.

yup bioshock can only be installed on a computer twice and requires online authorization, thats why its taking so long for any group to crack it.

YOU BETTER WATCH OUT BEFORE PLAYING ..

A lot of people are getting their PCs burned (YES, BURNED), and the game crashes a lot .. I’ll recommend to wait for a patch after the game is out on torrents.

Bought it for 39.99 at CC
Have played about 10 hrs total and it hasnt crashed once, very stable and a shit load of fun.

DannagE: yeah very cheap!!!! too bad you can only install it in 2 pc´s EVER and if for some reason one jack ass thinks that steam is no longer a good business and decides to shut it down next month then bye bye to your game, i hate when a game forces me to stay connected to internet just to see if im legal, it´s like an twisted version of internet nanny, so until i found a crack that allows me to run the game without steam i´ll stay away from this game just like many others. I just hope this one doesn´t end being the next prince of persia 3, more than a year for a crack :(

    August 24th, 2007 | 08:03

Hunter: don’t believe everything you read on Digg, as that “too bad you can only install it in 2 pc´s EVER” is just bullshit.

The reason no scene groups have released it is because they’re too busy playing. ;)

The game is great. Got it through Steam. Sadly, with my pc setup, I can only play it at 10×7 res, but at max settings. I didn’t come across any problems in the game so far (about 10 hrs of play). Maybe it’s a Vista problem.

    August 24th, 2007 | 08:17

Karl you dont know shit , there is huge problems with the install 2 times only. check out the forums for 2k games ppl are going fucking crazy about it, even Pc gamer has a front page post on thier site. This is a major step for the gaming industry trying this shit, the fact is it installs a root kit and limits you to 2 installs only. The developers are considering increasing it to 5,it’s complete fucking madness if ya ask me.

I don’t give my money to any a$$hole corporation that uses DRM. Period!

I will instead download a copy and hold out my middle finger to the fucking moron developers who thought this was a good idea to screw over the paying customers. That’s what DRM does… it only hurts the people who pay.

Valve’s $team is one giant DRM scheme… yet very few people complain about it… the public is already accepting it as if it’s a good thing that you lose your right to resell your purchased games… and you have to authorize (read: get permission) to play games you paid for… they track everything you do and say… and on top of that, make you think you’re getting a good deal… the games cost the same as a full packaged game yet you lose all the good things that come with that.

Fuck DRM (all forms thereof) and the ignorant morons who support it.

So you would have bought Bioshock if it was DRM free? Yeah ok, you are posting this on a scene release website. Anyone get the logic here?

    August 24th, 2007 | 09:18

“yup bioshock can only be installed on a computer twice and requires online authorization, thats why its taking so long for any group to crack it.”

Your a retard……the game can only be installed on up to “2″ PCs at one time. Not “it can only be installed 2x”.
I would hate to see why a top notch game developer would do such a thing….Imagine if you had a bad install the 1st time, that means you only have one try left….lol.

anyways…the best 50 buck$ I have spent on a game in my life. Max settings+DX10+1680×1050 with e6700 and 2×8800gts KO(oc’d to 700/1100 with water cool)

    August 24th, 2007 | 09:39

Maybe it’s just me, but having played through the demo, I don’t really see what the fuss is all about.

It looked nice and all, but it didn’t play particularly revolutionary or anything like that, and my understanding is there’s no multiplayer or anything of that nature.

Each to their own though, I guess it’s just not me.

  24. Karl Rove
    August 24th, 2007 | 09:54

M®.E: You uninstall the game and can reinstall it again elsewhere. I’m not sure why that’s complicated for you. SecureROM blows, but this is far from “2 TIMES EVAR!@#!!1″ like you people are bitching about.

Just get a 360 that version was on the internet about 2 weeks before relase date.

  27. August 24th, 2007 | 10:51

We all download this-or-that for free but at some point you have to ask yourself “who should I support?”. When a truly creative and original game producer offers something of this quality up I say we should support them.

I think 2K studios deserve all the support they can get for Bioshock. If you can’t give it to them then all you’re doing is supporting giant corporations and their unending rash of shit releases. We want more good things from 2k!

I’m going over to steam and picking this up now DRM or not. Grow up and support the scene and those who deserve support!

  28. August 24th, 2007 | 10:51

    This game is all hype.

There is no “world simulation”, just monster closets and scripted sequences, and the AI is predictable (shoot fire, jump in water, electrify).

Also the sound is completely buggered. It is all crackly.

    Buy M2TW: Kingdoms.

    August 24th, 2007 | 10:53

    DRM = FAIL
you would think they would’ve learned from Sony’s problems not to go installing rootkits on peoples computers. but apparently they are a company of idiots. screwing over your customers is just bad business. they really gotta stop pissing us all off.

    August 24th, 2007 | 10:55

  31. TheZack
    August 24th, 2007 | 10:55

Demo was cool, but the play system behind it is just like System Shock 1/2. Plasmids = Psi Powers, Hacking = Hacking, Weapons = Weapons. The setting is different. Granted. Story seems nice. Granted. Revolutionary? Nah, not ever. Hyped. Yes :) Totally…

DRM is really crap. Online Activation for a game without multiplayer? Hello!?!?!!? Waiting for crack.

  37. WingAttackGroupBravoPz
    August 24th, 2007 | 12:21

This game is way over hyped. I played the demo and can safely say i won’t bother with the rest. The game play is your average first person shooter. The ‘revolutionary’ bit has all been done before in other games (glorified gun modification). The graphics are…meh…average for a FPS these days. In fact I think they are sub par (and yes i do have a above recommended spec rig).

Crysis looks better than this, looks more like a next gen game. I’m not saying its better than bioshock, just that its graphics look better.

DRM? Fuck all companies that try to screw us over with DRM. If the game is worth it, I will support it and buy it. But to force me to ‘ask permission’ to play it and installing root-kits on MY rig…fuck no.

As to the rumours about the 2 install thing…last I checked up on it, it was you can install the game twice only if you don’t uninstall it properly. i.e. you can install it more that 2 times as long as you uninstall the previous installation properly and ‘deactivate’ the game online. This is of course a pain for people like me who like to regularly format my HDD for a clean install of everything. Or for people who get a virus and have to format without being unable to uninstall.

I think I’ll stay away from this one.

Karl Rove: guess you haven´t visited the forums of 2k right dude??? just look around there and see how many complains they are getting from people with that problem, also as i said anything that has steam is crap for me. Why should i be able to play a game only if they can keep an eye on my computer??? it´s a real shame that a lot of people have accepted steam in their machines, maybe if they thinked what they are doing by allowing companies to be their nannies we could be free of that steam crap, all i can say is i hope the good old pirates can do something about bioshock, then and only then i´ll buy the game.

What a boring piece of crap documentary!

Nothing is shown behind the scenes, the whole 40+mins is literally seeing the developers seated down yapping into the camera. Should have named it ‘Bioshock Developers’ Monologue’.

    Collector’s Edition – Not!

  53. August 24th, 2007 | 23:15

So many Biohype fanboys… jumping to the defense of a bunch of DRM peddling developers.

So much for “the customer is always right”.

The motto of these unpaid-shills should be “the corporation is always right”.

    And you can’t steal software/music/movies… that’s MPAA/RIAA/BSA propoganda.

It’s called copyright infringement… as in you are infringing their right to copy (i.e. distribute). If you want to parrot their bullshit, that’s your right but now that you know the truth, it becomes harder to say “but i didn’t know any better”.

Read up on what copyright really is… and isn’t then spout off about “stealing” and “pirating”… emotionally-charged words designed to cripple any sort of meaningful debate.

  55. Gamesmith
    August 25th, 2007 | 01:42

Oh fuck off with your DRM rants already. Grow up. Just admit you’re a cheap prick who wouldn’t buy ANY software because you’de rather blow your dough on that cell phone bill, piece of bling or that hot date at McDonalds.

I’m sooooooo fucking sick of “the scene” making excuses to pirate everything/no exceptions. Look, sometimes we have to support good developers if they are at least attempting to do something unique or quality. At some point down the line our actions do have consequence to people who have a genuine desire to make a good product. Yes their prices are still too high but fuck, you can’t just adopt that bullshit “everything should be free” attitude. Someone needs to get paid somewhere down the line for doing the hard work that gave you a few hours of pleasure.

This isn’t about DRM, this is about where the line is. The “Scene” forgot where that line is a long time ago. The message is all fucked up now. The original message was suppose to be about sending a signal to software manufacturers to lower their prices. Now the message is “We’re taking it regardless. Screw you!”. Like a fucking child having a temper tantrum.

This shit is all going to break down eventually if we keep that flawed logic up. Personally I find it harder and harder to justify my downloads these days especially when it comes to things I genuinely enjoy.

SUPPORT SOFTWARE MAKERS WHO GIVE A SHIT AND GROW THE HELL UP!

  56. duhhhhh
    August 25th, 2007 | 01:45

To make this ABSOLUTELY clear once more:
Technicly you REALLY can only install this game a given number of times EVER!!
They upped the number of installs from 2 to 5, but after that… well allegetly you can sent them a picture of your CD and manual, call the tec support and get a re-activation code. If and for how long this will work flawlessly is yet to be seen…

But NO, its not 2 installs at the same time, so NO, uninstalling it wont give you your install count back… Every activation is one activation gone.

Altho I am fully for PAYING for a piece of hard labour like this one is, I just HATE it when developers come up with these anti-piracy mesures that not only treat every honest customer like a suspect, but strictly limits what you can do with your PAYED for product.

Now buy the damn thing, have fun with it.. but dont forget to mail or call them to let them know that you are annoyed by their DRM style limitations. We shouldnt allow something like that to go unpunished or even unrecognized, or we will be in for much worse behavior in the future…

  57. duhhhhh
    August 25th, 2007 | 01:52

@Gamesmith: Your mostly right, hats of to you for speaking out.
I have some issues with it anyway… but your hearts at the right place and your msg is one we should all think about.
But “they” take a big part in what “we” do, not only with price politics, but with counter-piracy messures like this too. If this gets cracked, its a big “FUCK YOU” to them, and they asked for it… If I would have the hardware and deep desire to play this, I could see myself buying the game but using the cracked copy anyway… But its time to give it a rest…
My plan was just to tell you that I agree with your msg, and now I cant stop tipping again… Sooooo…
    Cheeers

  58. Greg
    August 25th, 2007 | 02:46

Nice try… i never said everything should be free or that developers shouldn’t be paid.

But if they keep taking away our rights… the right to own something we buy, the right to change or modify our property, etc etc and keep imposing ridiculous restrictions, then the game stops there. We won’t pay to have digital handcuffs placed on us at our expense.

This is a game of cat and mouse they cannot win; the more they squeeze the more control they lose. Control they have no right taking from us in the first place.

They already lost me as a paying customer, whether i download their software or not doesn’t change that they won’t be seeing a penny of my money.

And corporate-loving people like yourself seem to think developers and publishers can do anything they want and we should say “please sir, can i have some more?”. No!

Put DRM in !OUR! property, and we’ll see what happens.

Like those a$$holes at $pple, DRMing the iphone to the max to prevent people from making full use of their property. You buy something, it’s yours. Anyone who tells you otherwise is brainwashed by the propoganda spewed by the copyright cartel.

When these software/movie/music assholes stop putting restrictions on OUR property, then maybe i can consider paying for their efforts.

But i’ll be damned if i pay to have them “authorize” my right to use my property when i want.
DRM = Control. Control they couldn’t get otherwise than to pass laws and by technical means. This control doesn’t belong to them, it belongs to the customer, the public.

Copyright law doesn’t give them the right to tell you how to use a product, only that they have the right to distribute (i.e. right to copy).

When bought off laws like the DMCA and those coc$uckers in congress fuck over the public, yeah i’m not going to pay to have them digitally handcuff me.

  59. pandb
    August 25th, 2007 | 04:50

this reminds me of half life 2 . i bought it in stores day it came out+ spent fifty dollars only to be f’d over by steam’s online activation piece of crap. tried to work with steam for like 4 hours. although i bought it i never actually played their version of it. the pirated version worked better and was easier to install. i’ll do the same thing with this game most likely. i love to support quality developers producers and directors but drm is b s and i will always prefer pirated to drm.

  60. addi_di_teacha
    August 25th, 2007 | 07:16

“Starting immediately, we will be upping the activation count to a 5 by 5 plan. We will be raising the maximum amount of computers a user can have BioShock installed on simultaneously from 2 to 5, and allowing a user to reinstall BioShock on each of those computers from 3 times to 5 times.”

Well the limitations of DRM are bullshit for honest consumers but there’s a reason they are doing things this way. Thankfully they are doing what they can to address it as best they can and they seem to have heard the chorus.

The point however with DRM (as they see it), is to prevent overt piracy as much as humanly possible in that first critical 3-4 month sales curve. I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND why they would want to do that and you guys should too. If they don’t do that they won’t make their production and development investment back, plain and simple. You can’t make games that take 2 years and a staff of dozens for free. No support = no new games from 2K. I mean lets get real here.

So buy the fuckin thing (if you can afford it), play it, finish it. If and when you decide to install it again download the pirated version without DRM limitations. What’s the problem? Broken logic with the piracy scene in general, that’s the problem.
