Yes it will work. The minimum requirements are fairly low. 1GB of Ram and at least a Nvidia 8800, I think, or ATI HD 1300. So, you won’t be able to run it at max settings, but you should be able to run it.

This release is fine, i’ve tried it and it’s ok.
Yes the multiplayer will not work because the “online” Windows game live won’t work but you can create a local profile for live and play the single player.
You create the local profile when it asks you to either create a new profile or use existing profile. Scroll down the screen and you will see some underlined text saying use local profile if you don’t want to have the live online experience.
Or something to that affect

As a downloader, I found that Mediafire is by far the best host, since I can set multiple downloads at the same time, even without a paid account. Why do we never find mediafire links in here?

The widescreen is broken for 16:10 res like 1680×1050 and 1920×1200, it will just strech the screen it seems 16:9 is the only widescreen supported.

is your documents folder set to another drive like mine is. Perhaps the problem is that the save files go to the default windows document folder. I had the same problem with batman:arkham asylum

If you are getting a launch error, it is because you need to move ALL the files from the SP and MP directories, NOT JUST THE LAUNCHER.exe. Move all the files, and you’ll be fine.

In order to save you need to make an offline account, you can do this by going to the “create a live account” screen and when it shows a white page with some text scroll down and click on the underlined text saying something like ‘create a local account’.

Crack just doesn’t seem to work, copied all files from crack dir and it still says wrong disc inserted. Looking around various other forums alot of people reporting the same thing.

Seems to not work, just gives an error after copying all files and not just the launcher (which razor states in the nfo) – looks like yet anither faulty release done to be the first (do they never learn?)
I don’t know what all the fuss is about. The game works perfectly. I can save and load games just fine. Whether or not there will be Securom triggers further along in the game is still unconfirmed, but for now I’m lovin’ it.
I’ve decided to help those who still haven’t gotten this to work.
I have repackaged Razor1911’s original crack along with the missing files into one pack:

Download and copy the contents of the “Razor1911″ folder to: C:\Program Files\2K Games\BioShock 2
Overwrite any files when prompted.
If you haven’t already done so, create a Games for Windows LIVE Offline account. (In my case, BioShock 2 automatically used the offline account I made for Batman: Arkham Asylum.)
You must have the Games for Windows LIVE package installed (it should be automatically installed along with BioShock 2).

Launch the game from the BioShock 2 Games for Windows shortcut and it should start Razor’s launcher.

Games works for me at least single player, I haven’t tried multiplayer. I just downloaded the disc image. Installed it, then copied Razor Crack directory (5 Files) in the 2k>Bioshock 2>SP>Builds>Binaries directory. I then downloaded the missing Razor file from the release log mediafile link and tada it worked. So you need to replace 6 files in total into the mentioned directory. You should a Razor1911 logo when you start the game. Using Windows 7 64 bit.

Would someone be able to tell me if Razors crack and the so called missing files would work with a legit copy of Bioshock 2 created into an image off the game disc? Because I have tried about a million cracks and it won’t work. The so called missing files do nothing. The extension to the files are ones I don’t even know. Where the hell are they meant to be placed? Would someone please be able to help me. Personally I love a god damn link which has the crack and the correct missing files.

Okay, here are full installation instructions:
Bioshock 2 Intall for Dummies:
1. Mount rzr-bio2.iso and install the game.
2. Go into your mounted .iso drive and look for Razor1911 folder. Access it. In Razor1911/MP/Builds/Binaries there are four files. Copy them to your hard drive’s install folder. It will be C:/ (or whatever drive you installed on) /Program Files/2K Games/BioShock 2/MP/Builds/Binaries . Overwrite the existing files.
3. Go back to your mounted .iso Razor1911 folder. Now access Razor1911/SP/Builds/Binaries and copy these four files to C:/Program Files/2K Games/BioShock 2/SP/Builds/Binaries.
4. Download “the missing file” (which is the launcher.) This link is taken from the rlslog official post so it’s not a virus: http://www.mediafire.com/?1nylnymr1ig
5. Access your downloaded “BioShock_2_Missing_File-Razor1911.rar”. Inside BioShock_2_Missing_File-Razor1911 folder there is a file called “rzr-bs2f.001″. Double click it and open it with your program, WinRar, if/when asked. Inside will be a file called, “Bioshock2Launcher.exe.”
6. Copy the file “Bioshock2Launcher.exe” to C:/ (or whatever drive you installed on) /Program Files/2K Games/BioShock 2/MP/Builds/Binaries AND C:/Program Files/2K Games/BioShock 2/SP/Builds/Binaries.

Try running the launcher/game from both the SP and MP directories. But I think for you it might be a hardware issue. The game works flawlessly for me in both Windows 7 32-bit and Windows XP SP3.
Did you try updating/downloading the latest drivers for your GPU video card?
I’m running Windows 7 64Bit. Is that compatible? I think I’ll do a re install of the game then follow your instructions. Would you happen to have the link for the crack? I already have the link for missing file from your above post. I don’t trust any of the ones I got now.
Also try running the game/launcher .exes in all the different compatibility modes (right click the .exe, “properties”, compatibility tab for that).
If you got your game from a legit source, the “crack” is everything I described in the install instructions. The mounted .ISO “rzr-bio2.iso” should have a directory called Razor1911 and everything you need is inside there, except for “the missing file.” (aka “Bioshock2Launcher.exe.”) I can re-upload just the files you need to copy over (including the launcher) if someone wants that.
What’s the link for the correct crack with the correct number of files?
I borrowed my frieds legit copy he bought today, made an image of it and installed that. That’s why I’m just looking for the legit crack from the right source. I would very much appreciate if you uploaded the files you need to copy over. I already have the correct missing file ready to go.
You can try your luck with all the random links but I’m sure half will contain viruses. I’d just go with the included Razor1911 directory in the .ISO and then use the RLSLOG link in the part of the post where it says:

GAME SAVING IN BIOSHOCK 2 FOR DUMMIES.
(Single Player Campaign Mode.)
You do not need a Games for Windows Live key.
Start up the game.
1. If you already have an existing Games for Windows Live account, it might automatically sign you in. Don’t worry. If you get any Games for Windows prompts, either ignore them, or click on a red “X” button if you see it.
2. Once you reach the main menu there will be three options. Single Player | Quit to Multiplayer | Quit to Windows.
3. Press the “Home” key on your keyboard. If you are already signed in to an existing account, click on “Sign Out” when the dashboard tab appears. Otherwise, click on “Create New Profile.”
4. On the next screen that appears, it’s a giant wall of text. Scroll down the text until you see a blue hypertext link that says, “create a local profile.” Click on it.
5. Make your local profile. I called mine, “BioShock2″. You can customize the profile display avatar if you want.
6. You should now be signed into your new local profile. Quit the game. Restart the game.
7. At the main menu, Single Player | Quit to Multiplayer | Quit to Windows, press the “Home” key on your keyboard. Make sure you’re signed into “Bioshock2″ or whatever you called your local profile.
8. Now chose “Single Player” mode and have fun. Your saves should work.

Game crashes after intro movies. did create a local GFWL account, quit game, started again, cant even get to main meu (single, multi, quit). only if i sign out of GFWL will it let me into main menu, as soon as i sign back in (with local account) and try to start single player, game crashes to desktop, with no error message. any ideas anyone?

Check out my post at #248. Download the MP and SP packs. The SP pack includes the file “Bioshock2GFW.dll.”
Delete your game, and reinstall the game. Update your GPU drivers to the latest ones from your graphics card manufacturer’s website.
Then follow Post #248 instructions.
If it still doesn’t work, try to get Games For Windows Live installed from the official Microsoft site, then use the #248 overwrites on top of that.
Hopefully that works for you…
I couldn’t make the game run, (there’s somethign wrong with the razor crack), ’till I set compatibility mod for Win98 to both the launcher and game’s exe. then the game launched fine. However I’m experiencing extreme lag after picking up the rivet gun… before that point however the game runs smoothly. Anyone experiencing this?
im using an offline account, but it keeps saying i need to be signed in to an online one, and then i can’t do anything except sign in or quit game.

Go to the GFW Live site and actually make a new account with a throwaway email address. Sign in and go online with it. You still don’t need a Windows Live Key. Then follow the instructions in post #251.

Then, grab the files from #248 and follow the instructions. I’m running Win 7 32-bit too and it runs perfectly for me.

oh, nvm. it wasn’t an issue with the account. I launched it from the launcher in the mp folder, and for some reason, i could only “sign in” or “quit game.” I launched it with the one in the other folder (sp?) and it gave me the right main menu.

Hmmm weird. Try going into
C:/ (or whatever drive you installed on) /Program Files/2K Games/BioShock 2/SP/Builds/Binaries
and running “Bioshock2Launcher.exe” and/or “Bioshock2.exe”, see if they work. If they don’t, right click on them, choose properties, and go to the compatibility tab. Try all the different compatibility modes from Win 95 – Vista SP 2 and see if that works.
If that doesn’t work, go into
C:/ (or whatever drive you installed on) /Program Files/2K Games/BioShock 2/MP/Builds/Binaries
and repeat the same process with the MP “Bioshock2Launcher.exe” and/or “Bioshock2.exe”.
Beyond that, it’s most likely a hardware issue. Or a driver issue. Or an issue with the Razor release/crack or game itself.
I’m running Win 7 32-bit with a simple Intel duo core processor, all updated Direct X + Phys X stuff, nVidia 8800 GTS, and nVidia 196.21 drivers. Works perfectly.

It could also be some weird conflict with your graphics card. Go into the game and turn off all the graphics options except the correct resolution. Then try to load the first area/stage. Once/if you get in game, you’ve narrowed down the problem. Then try to load each graphical option one by one until you get the freeze again. That might be a way to isolate the problem. Good luck.

@ post 349 your files once extracted are un-mountable with daemon tools.
I downloaded the game installed it fine but can’t get the crack working and I also tried Virtual CD 10.1.0.0 and BioShock 2 Mini image that’s out if anyone is familiar with that. I keep getting this error though —> Bioshock2.exe – Ordinal Not Found- – The Ordinal 5372 could not be located in the dynamic link library xlive.dll ???
Note: I have Microsoft Games for Windows live installed so that’s not the problem.
It contains a Virus!
Avast says the Setup.exe contains Win:VB-OKI[Drp]
