Billy Bob Thornton – Beautiful Door (2007)

It was little surprisnig for me to see Billy Bob Thornton doing music but hey, why not. Paris tried it too after all and it probably earned her enough money to buy a pair of shoes. Beautiful Door is a country album full of Thornton’s deep voice, which actually speaks almost more often than sing. Very fresh stuff!

A collection of twelve tracks, BEAUTIFUL DOOR, is a lyrical, sonic story about life and death, beginnings and ends. A blend of roots rock, country, and folk, the musical genres Billy Bob Thornton has always loved most, BEAUTIFUL DOOR is the follow up album to his third solo release in 2005, HOBO — and like HOBO, BEAUTIFUL DOOR is a collection of songs Thornton intended to have listened to as an “album,” in its entirety. “The album had to have a sequence. And even if it’s not an A+B+C song type of story– BEAUTIFUL DOOR is still a sonic landscape that both musically and lyrically flows from one track to the next.”

Remarkable in both its honesty and execution, “Beautiful Door” makes you want to go find Thornton’s earlier efforts, including a 2001 debut co-written and co-produced by old-school country guy Marty Stuart. (Thornton also headlined at South By Southwest in the wake of 2003′s “The Edge of the World.”) As recorded with guitarist Brad Davis (Stuart, Scruggs, Nelson), bassist Leland Sklar (Hall & Oates, CSN, James Taylor, Lyle Lovett) and keyboardist Teddy Andreadis (Guns ‘n’ Roses, Alice Cooper, “Skunk” Baxter), “Beautiful Door” is everything Thornton often hasn’t been in his wackadoo movie portrayals.  It’s an introspective country-rock record full of atmosphere and delicate insights. And, no, nobody kills Dwight Yoakam.

I second #4 question on why you write about a release, even though there is no public Torrent yet.

Its been about 5 hrs since my first comment, and I havent yet seen a torrent download for it. I dont have a Demonoid account.
Would be nice of it to show up soon…

I have not tried this before with other new releases!
