I find him very funny. He has good material poking fun at politics and Real time is a decent show. However, He can pretty xenophobic at times it seems =p

what are you talking about? i watch everything bill maher does and i’ve never heard him say this and don’t think he ever would, unless it was a joke. that statement is pretty dumb obviously. he’s still very liberal and very brilliant.
Who would actually buy this DVD? If you want to see an hour of Bill Maher bashing Bush, just watch his weekly show.

#8 I think #4 is referring to the fact that Bill Maher has said that he believes the “Official Account” of what happened during 9/11/01, and he makes fun of people that question the “Official” story. A little hypocritical and odd seeing as how he utterly berates and degrades every facet of the Bush administration but somehow has taken the position that they had nothing to do with 9/11 and their explanation for it (apparently to him) is 100% airtight and logical.
I used to like Bill Maher 100% but after watching his live HBO “Real Time w/Bill Maher” for the last 2 seasons, he has revealed to me that he is somewhat of a leftist radical. I am a very open minded and “liberal” person, i would call myself a Progressive Libertarian-Democrat because i believe in absolute freedom unless you violate the rights of another, and i also strongly support consumer rights, universal healthcare, and universal education.
However people like Bill Maher support federal laws against “animal cruelty”, the defense of Israel with US Armed Forces, and other status quo bullsh1t. He acts like a liberal champion but it seems to me that he is willing to supplant right wing tyranny with left wing tyranny.
I still like the guy but with his views on Israel, PETA, and borderline racism against followers of Islam i have to take everything that he says with a grain of salt.
Oh i also forgot to say that i have seen this 3 times on HBO and it is really funny, this guy really shreds Bush. Then again when you are the worst president in the history of the United States how hard is it to make fun of you?
Because he’s half jewish he loves Israel and was funny when he was interviewing the former head of the Bin Laden unit and when he basically said that the US should not be used as a proxy for Israel agaianst its own interests you could see he was gettimg upset.
Bill Maher is an atheist, so i doubt gives anything about his Jewish heritage. The only thing he does, is rant on about the same we heard it all before stuff.
I don’t like him, i think he’s a douchebag, and not because he’s an atheist(because i don’t give a sh-it what he believes) I just think he’s complete idiot who thinks he invented everything. A know it all, a talk show host who hasn’t seen the hard side of life yet.

Just watched this, and I have to admit it’s funny stuff. Ripping on Bush aside, there is some good material, but it may be the 3 “Tyskie” beers and 2 shots I’ve had talking.
His weekly hbo show is pretty damn good. I think the reason alot of people think we went “soft” or otherwise isn’t the way he used to be on politically incorrect is simply because now he has guests, that are actually relevant to pop culture. Senators, actors, musicians, comedians (chris rock, drew carey, dana carvey), and so he actually has to let them get in a point or two to his point or two. You can’t just go off on wild tangents when you have guests with their own opinions, or it becomes about you. Besides, that’s what his segments are for. Great show, I’m looking forward to watching this when it downloads.
