Big Man Japan 2007 PROPER DVDRip XviD-SSF

A fairly successful Japanese comedy Big Man Japan is now available in the dvdrip quality. The movie called “Dai-Nipponjin” in original tells the story of a man who grows into a huge monster killing and destroying everything around him like Godzilla. You probably need to be at least Asian to enjoy this kind of humor but why not to take a short rest from Hollywood production. Expect Japanese audio and English subtitles (that’s the reason for proper, previous dvdrip missed them) in a great video quality on 2 CDs.

Director Hitoshi Matumoto weaves this darkly comic mockumentary about a Japanese man who continues the long-standing family tradition of facing off against Tokyo’s most formidable monsters. Constantly caught in the middle of everyone’s battles, Dai Sato finds his sincere efforts to keep the peace repeatedly belittled; he’s divorced, his neighbors have covered his house in graffiti, and he gets nothing but dirty looks when he walks down the street. He accidentally receives the jolt of electricity that transforms him into a hulking super-human crime fighter, and clashes with a gargantuan leviathan intent on destroying Tokyo.

No any update yet. you need to be more patient. I have some asian movies without subs on my hdd for years :) This is not that case – if he really dissapears without finishing cd2, i will go to Plan B – there is one other person (http://fansub.d-addicts.com/User:8thSin) who is very active to subbing Jap movies, i will ask them to finish cd2. No point to ask now, becouse he is very busy with other projects.

    January 5th, 2008 | 23:29

Yeah, first place I went to look for better subs was d-addicts. They usually come through if that’s what it comes to.

“I have some asian movies without subs on my hdd for years”

That may be, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it. And for those movies, nobody promissed me subtitles. But that’s besides the point. You are still on the job, and that’s what counts. Cheers!

Guys, i got update from translator! Look what he says:
“The subs are only 70% done at this point in time ….I hate to leave this project incomplete but I can’t do much now because of a nasty skin rash on my hands (think ’scratched to pieces’). Honestly, if they get better soon I’ll finish them….please be patient is all I can say right now, I haven’t forgotten.”

    So. We must wait again.
I hope he’s health will get better.

Eczema possibly? … a nervous condition iirc, hope he isn’t fretting too much about this :) .

That’s great x and nameless translator! :) Many thanks for your hard work and effort!

Any chance someone can kindly put it up for download somewhere else other than rapidshare? some of the NAT/IP firewalls on our ISPs muck up the IP address check from rapidshare and the “free” download almost never works.. I would appreciate it very much.. Thanks in advance!

Not to be too picky, but is there any chance of getting the end credit dialouge translated instead of “TAKE DRUGS!”, etc? I’d like to know what they’re actually saying.

  50. Xtargazer
    January 12th, 2008 | 09:33

Yeah, I just watched it with these “fixed subs” …and I felt kinda ripped at the end, I dunno about you guys, but I totally did not understand the last like 13 or so minutes plot-wise.

    January 12th, 2008 | 22:09

    Thanks for the subs!
But i dont think I want to watch it do to number 150 and 151.

    @150+151

Maybe that’s because every one kept rushing him for the subs?

Either way I’m pleased, Thanks for these, pass on my thanks.

Thanks for the subs, but they are still pretty inaccurate, and the incessant “Take Drugs” crap at the end instead of re-translating the provided Chinese subs – however bad they may be – is jevenile and insulting. Neither “fixed” nor “final”. Hopefully someone else will pick up the ball, otherwise we’ll just have to wait for an actual “Proper” release on DVD.

The SSF release looks very good, all things considered, just don’t expect either set of subtitles to make a whole lot of sense if (like me) you are Nihongo-challenged.

Incidentally, I purchased the 3-disc R2 set (unsubbed), and there really isn’t anything there on the bonus discs to make it worth the extra money, unless you are a collector.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Got this movie about a month ago and couldn't watch it.

    Looking forward to it :D

  58. CDW
    May 18th, 2009 | 03:48

Well, I already have the movie, so thanks for the subs, no matter how final or un-final they are.

I already tried three different other subs sets and they all were useless. I hope these work. As for the reported problems at the end, I'll take my chances and then convert back to the other crappy subs.

PS – DON'T EXPECT DRUGS TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE.
