Here comes the official video game for the olympics, starting in few days. Beijing 2008 released by a not very famous group HI2U. Developed by SEGA, this game offers a wide variety of olympic sports and although the gameplay isn’t somehow spectacular, you will have a lot of fun with this one for sure. Oh and by the way, the cover for this game is absolutely ridiculous.

Embrace the competitive spirit of the world’s most prestigious sporting event, represent your country and bring home the gold. Appearing on next-gen consoles, the game promises to deliver a far more entertaining and immersive Olympic experience with superior graphics capturing the fine emotional detail of each event, where a fraction of a second means the difference between winning and losing. Brand new game play mechanics challenge a players time, speed and coordination.

Compete alone or with up to seven friends online, player’s will strive to break records as they lead their chosen country to victory. This summer, everyone will want to show their patriotism and bring home the gold.

    been playing it, very bad console port to the pc, many bugs and controls only suit 360 controller. Still worth a look if you got unlimited bandwidth.

    Above is the description found on a webpage selling the PC edition of this
    game. Notice how it mentions “next gen consoles”. Well, this should pretty
    much indicate that it’s a console-to-PC port. This is a spectacularly bad port
    though. Infact we found it to be pretty much unplayable without an XBOX360 for
    Windows controller, which begs the question, why bother porting it at all ?
    It’s pretty buggy too.

    Martin, the cover for this game is for the NTSC users (mostly USA). Thats how it is on xbox 360, PAL version has a different cover.

    Based on screenshots it uses Quake3 engine and requires hardware as for Crysis?

    Does this game allow you to to:
    a) Lie in order to be awarded the “games”
    b) Brainwash an entire polulous with “Maoisms”
    c) Become a Political Prisoner or a dangerous/subversive foreign terrorist simply for telling the truth.
    d) on the extreme difficulty levels you could maybe try and explain “Guanxi” and “Mianzi” to a foreigner and then explain why these are good reasons to lie, cheat, steal etc
    e) explain the concept of the Olympics to the Chinese (e.g the coming together of different races and nationalities is friendship and harmony and so forth) and attempt to explain the alien concept of “sportsmanship” to them.

    Just wordering???

    Having just returned from working in China for 2 years, I don’t think I’ll be playing it, and neither should any of you support these “Games” in any way whatsoever.:o

    This is by a mile the worst Console to PC portation I ve ever come accross!

    They havent even bothered with changing the Buttons of the XBOX Controller… so as a pc player you wont be able to find any freakin button neccessary to play.

    I would Honestly do a clean install on your entire system. Yep, wipe it clean! Not only your system has to be beefed up to play both Crysis and Assassins Creed on dual monitors with the resolution kicked to Ultra JUST to see the weight dynamics successfully showcase the men’s testicles to bounce ‘naturally’ while walking to the starting line, this game got some tracking mumbo-jumbo on it, as reported in a tech-forum I came across. But, what do I know. Sleep tight, folks, it’s probably nothing to worry about. Forget I even mentioned it.

    I wanted to play Beijing 2008 but all controls were locked to the Xbox 360 controller as it is compatible with “Games for Windows”. For example the right stick didn’t work at all.

    I changed the controls in XBCD to match the 360 controls. Everything works in Beijing 2008 now. It should work on all “Games for Windows”-games as well.

    yes mine too… it won’t start. the screen will ‘blink’ then it will crash.
    my solution: right click beijing.exe – properties – compatibility tab – tick ‘disable desktop composition’ – apply – ok.

    you’ll need to unninstall anti virus. i have same problem before, but when i unnistall my KIS9, it works perfectly
    no need to reinstall the game, just run it when the computer restart.. GOOD LUCK!!
