Before The Devil Knows You Are Dead 2007 LiMiTED R5 DVDRIP XVID-iGNiTE
This dandy movie was out for a while on a flawless DVDSCR by group SAPHiRE. Quality has now taken a step-up with this 2 CD release by group iGNiTE. Having seen this a while back, I can personally recommend it to fans of Crime/Thriller flicks. Seymour Hoffman gives another brilliant performance, while Ethan Hawke shines in his untypical role.
Edit: Yes, there has been an R5 of this film released by group TRG back in Dec. 2007. Fact is, this release was not nuked for being a dupe. Also, the TRG release came on just 1 CD, so quality can’t be as good. I don’t know why iGNiTE chose to name this ‘R5 DVDRIP’, but as of yet, it has not been nuked.
Synopsis: Master filmmaker Sidney Lumet directs this absorbing suspense thriller about a family facing the worst enemy of all - itself. Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Andy, an overextended broker who lures his younger brother, Hank (Ethan Hawke) into a larcenous scheme: the pair will rob a suburban mom-and-pop jewelry store that appears to be the quintessential easy target. The problem is, the store owners are Andy and Hank’s actual mom and pop and, when the seemingly perfect crime goes awry, the damage lands right at their doorstep.

Since you obviously didn’t bother checking, this release is not a dupe of the TRG release. Furthermore, this 2 CD version is far superior in terms of quality to the 1 CD TRG release.

Bleez, are you sure this really is so much better than TRG’s? It’s the same resolution, not sure about the audio. Dunno if it’s worth getting if you already have the TRG, as that was a really nice rip.

There is distinctive difference in video and audio between one compressed on 700mb to one on 1.4gb. However, your subjective perception my differ depending on what type/resolution/post processing of screen/software you are using. Usually, you will see much more artifacts on more compressed version. Moreover, R5 releases (TRG version u r talking about) differ from normal releases in that they are usually a direct Telecine transfer of the film without any of the image processing common on DVD releases. Therefore, R5 is clearly inferior to DVD retail mostly in sharpness and color.
A 2 disc rip and they dont include AC3 audio, what a shame

R5 is a DVD rip from region 5 (R5) and of the same video quality as all other regions. If there is a difference in quality it is in the audio, a lot of these releases have english audio from poorer sources, like cam or telecine. Don’t believe everything on wiki, especially if it has no sources to back up the article.

@19, “Tom”: If there even was an english audio source on this R5 DVD, it was most likely only stereo. A more probable case is that the audio is from a DVD Screener or it’s a direct Line Out audio from a drive-in or a projection booth…

This type of R5 is not the same thing as the R5 region code. In the scene the R5 tag refers to a pre retail movie format released in Russia for the purpose of defeating Russian cammers and pirates. This type of release has a lower quality but its not noticeable. In the scene R5 is not the same thing as DVDRip

This is for all the n00bs who are getting confused.
This is a R5 DVDRIP meaning its not a R5 reel-transfer (TELECINE) It is a re-released enhanced version exactly the same type of release as a R1/2 etc etc.
This type of release is just usually labeled DVDRip but some scene groups label the region on when its a non R1 source, Also this will be the final xvid of this as other dvdrips will be a dupe unless its release as a internal.
SO THIS IS NOT A FECKING DUPE SO STFU FFS!

A scene R5 is a legally made TC (TELECINE) made for the russian market to compete with the high piracy rate and distribution of illegal telecines.
These usually come with no english track so have to be synced with LINE audio ie a FM signal rip or direct earphone jack and these releases are tagged with the LINE tag, for the ones that come with a studio audio track the tag isnt used.
Now a R5 DVDRip is differenet because it has had extra digital work done like our R1/2 etc.

Over the past 6 months the major movie studios have been releasing retail dvds
early in Russia. They do this to stop the widespread use of pirated telecines
(which were once very common). Lately however there has been very few real
telecines, most of the scene telecines you see are actually R5 retails.
R5 retail is rushed out by the studio, they are basically competing with
pirates, so there is little to no cleanup of the film after the telecine
process. So the main difference between telecines put out by the pirates is
that the r5’s are done using pro equipment, professional studios and
professional people. The quality of R5 retail is very similar to dvdscr’s,
no time is usually spent cleaning up dvdscrs either.

Last years second best film.
Very mediocre. Story line was not good and the film was very disappointing. I for one did not think this film was worth watching. If you do then I hope you enjoyed it but this doesn’t even come close to Attonement, Demon Barber of Fleet Street, No Country For Old Men or even Love In The Time Of Cholera. I don’t which critic said that this was last years second best film but it’s better if he stays in his cave and runs around screaming Captain CAVEMAAAAAAAAAAN.

about you implying in your description that this is the first and only R5 released by failing to mention the previous release and by claiming this is a step up in quality since the dvd screener.You should have said something on the lines of……….
“Although we have seen an R5 release by group TRG back in December in a 1 cd qualty rip we now have the chance to see it a a 2 cd rip with a higher video bitrate thanks to group iGNiTE so should be the better copy of the two until a dvd rip appears”

As stated before this ISNT a normal R5, it isnt the type or “R5″ that you or the newbie nuker is thinking of, yes its released in Region 5 but its the 2nd edition release meaning its the digital enhanced version like a R1/2.
The first R5 by TRG was simply just the telecine transfer and this is the DVDRip but they decided they would tag it with the Region coding which has confused people to think its a dupe of the R5 thats out. These R5 DVDRips have been released many times but usually the DVDRip versions arnt taggee with the region and that is why it has confused many people.
I know this for FACT because i physically get russian reel-transfer sources, the exact same sources that scene groups use

I agree they shouldnt have tagged it as R5.DVDRip because that just confuses the newbies and the newbie nukers, but technically they havnt broken a tagging rule as they are just stating the region they ripped it from and stated it was a dvdrip, Its not really there fault if some havnt got the brains to realise that it isnt a reel-transfer and actual a 2nd edition retail.
