Hey! This one goes out to all the gamers there. Group Lz0 released a new Fraps. It was officially released for quite some time, but now it’s cracked for your recording comfort.

I tried an older version but it would not display the FPS on Assassin’s Creed. Hope this fixes that!

@11 - yea, i tried downloading 2 different versions when i saw this post from usenet, with both of them, AV popped up saying they were infected, so be careful and not being an idiot and trying to open before you scan it like myself

the rapidshare version contains an exe in 3 rars in 3 zips in 1 rar. WTF? O_o and it’s a console window which just closes after opening. i hope this is no virus or malware!!!

Do u guys know how to reduce the file size of a video made by Fraps. My hard drive is almost full and a 3 minute video made by Frap even takes more than 2 gigs. It’s too much memory space for such a short video.

try a low resolution. Normaly, you don’t need 1600×1200 to make a decent video. 640×480 is enough. Reduce the fps of the output video. And.. to make it even smaller, uncheck “record sound”
if you don’t want to reduce the output video quality, you can try do record 1min, then re-encode it (xvid + mp3), then record another 1min and re-enc and so on..

FRAPS generates a huge video size, because it doesn’t compress it (like xvid, divx, h264). The reason why (my guess), it’s because compression in real time recording requires huge processing power (super cpu
).

Yes. If Fraps do a Real Time conversion, it would use almost 100% of CPU procesing power. It would leave you nothing to play the game, causing a super lag.
So, the solution is to reencode the video after you done capturing it and then deleting the big file to save Hard Drive space.
What’s the different from the 20 previous versions?

P.S. no, this version doesn’t display FPS in Assassin’s Creed, ok, I’ll correct myself, it does display FPS, but each time number changes, it doesn’t erase it but paints over it, so what you see is a yellow square.
