Badly written show.
After the first original mini-series episodes the writers should have been taken out back and shot.
If you are going to write a show about the military (even if it is futuristic) have a little more knowledge about the subject other than Saving Private Ryan. Every week the writers bring out the cliches and you can tell all their military “knowledge” comes from watching about 3 war movies.

And I’m not into this kind of shows neither in general, I watch Prison Break, Dr House, Shark, My Name Is Earl, Lost, 24, The Tudors and BSG is still my favorite

Reducing the viewers of this show to nerds only proves you have no idea what it is about. Just because it has a sci fi background doesn’t mean it isn’t interesting, it deals with a lot of current problems in today’s society, as in, religion, stem cell research, cloning, terrorism, war, education and even labour policies and organic fuel shortage.
If being a nerd is being interested in these topics instead of who’s screwing who in a lame reality show or the “314125th best capture ever” on Cops, than count me in. But I’d think twice about answering that.
@2, you know it’s one of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time, right? It’s not geeky in the slightest, it’s a political and military show, like the West Wing but in space and with epic battles. Take your assumptions elsewhere.

I haven’t watched this show before, but have watched SG1 Stargate & Atlantis.
There wasn’t any plot involved, a space fight followed by a fight scene and the constant music throughout with explosions every 5 seconds.
Do I need to watch the previous episodes to appreciate, even without that it was obvious nothing would be revealed in this episode, I coulod see the coming “to be continued” from the complete lack of direction/script/plot.

Are you kidding me? I’ve watched the Stargates for years now, and as much as I love them, they are many times inferfior to BSG (tho they shouldnt be compared).
There is no way you can appreciate BSG for what it is (other than the amazing cinematography) if you do not know the plotline. You cant just jump into a show at the start of it’s final season.
I hope they find earth before they get canceled.

I’m seriously not liking this recent trend of the admin posters opinions of “oh, I don’t really like this movie but whatever…”.
I’m also worried that because Mr. X is apparently “too cool for this show” the RLS is going to come out slow. I guess it’s other sources for me if RLSLog and their poster opinions are going to make a RLS post come out LATE.
I wouldn’t call Mr. X a “moron”. He’s just an aggressive guy who likes to put a lot of flamebait into his postings. I guess he likes it this way. But then, of course, he has to accept that some people spend him applause for his opinions whereas others would like to see him thrown into shark-infested waters.
That’s the kind of reaction you’ll always get with this kind of behavior.
Well, people have their opinions, but I don’t like people forming opinions about something before they’ve tried or watched it. Mr. X’s post sure likes to jump to conclusions; FYI, there’s plenty of sex in this show, but I guess the space-setting and the run-for-your-life war the characters fight in the show just makes it too “nerdy”.

This really isn’t justt a sci-fi geek show. Trust me, that’s why I stayed away from it for the first 2 seasons. But all it took was watching the pilot mini-series for me to be hooked, and now I rank this show as one of my all-time fav shows. In the top 5 for sure.
It transcends everything you would think about a typical sci-fi show. This is NOT star trek. This is NOT ummmmm…. anything else like that.
Everything from the writing, directing, acting, to cinematography is SUPERB. It blends genres, and pushes the envelope on what a sci-fi show can be.
Please, go search for the 3-part miniseries that launched the show and give it a go. It’s still being seeded on major torrent sites. I can guarantee that 90% of ANYONE who watches it will be hooked.

First off, there are too many people bashing Mr X for all sorts of things. I don’t always agree with Mr X either, but you know, for all the big talk about free speech and stuff, there are a lot of people here who want to put other people down when they speak freely. “I may not agree with what you say, but I shall fight to the death for your right to say it.” So for those who disagree with Mr X, just ignore him, and if you really want to speak up, get Martin to give you a job here.
As for the “Nerd bashing”, sure all in good fun.. Without nerds, there would be no torrent and one-click downloaders or Xvid/Divx or ffdshow or … Myself – a nerd and proud of it..
And for those who don’t watch this show, well, 25,000 seeders and leechers (at the moment) say that this is a show/series worth watching.. I don’t watch The Sopranos, but that does not mean it is a bad show.

Kara was revealed to be “alive” at the end of last season.. The cliffhanger is if she is still human or cylon and her audacious claim to have actually seen/visited earth.
And yes, the second half of S04 is expected to be aired in Q1 2009.

Here’s the problem: for those who don’t use any other resource other that RLSLog for their Scene release news, which is totally understandable considering the decentralized and spread-out nature of the scene, Mr. X’s obvious bias against BSG, by drawing out conclusions before making a fair judgment, affected his posting. The post came out nearly 8 hours after it was initially released on the ‘net, and would this have happened if it was a show that he liked, perhaps, Lost? Probably not.
I’m all for holding opinions and all, and I totally understand it. I just can’t stand the trolling; on either side; against the show and the generalization of people that watch the show as “nerds”. Watch the show and you’ll probably see there’s nearly nothing “nerdy” about the show, but alas, the internet lets any guy with a stupid opinion voice his comments.

Very good, never liked any shows of this sort before, happend to dload that ‘Razor’ mini film episode on the off chance and was hooked. Was cluesless to what was going on though – so i took the time to watch all episodes right from Season one before four began, very tense and well acted show, makes a change from most of the **** on TV.

While I think show has it’s flaws it is very enjoyable and entertaining. I do however see a decline what the writing is concerned. The season opener also did not impress me much as I wanted it to be. There are a lot of matters that just don’t add up. Also the drama was serious lacking in this episode.

There are a lot of new potential BSG watchers, so I think its good I try and support the show by helping out some of you guys, as well as maybe filling in some of the more casual fans with a little BSG history lecture for you.
Now, wikipedia will fill in much better than I will, but the long and the short of it that this BSG is considered as a “Rebirth” – there are parallels with the 70’s show thoughout, but it really is something “new” to it, and to test these idea’s out a 2 x 2hr “mini-series” special was shown here in the UK on Sky about a year before it started properly to gauge reaction, which was good enough to commission the first series to the US with the Mini-Series as the intro.
As someone mentioned, and with *any* TV series (particularly sci-fi), the first season can be hard work at times as they find their feet with the set up of the characters and trying out what works and what didn’t – but it is worth sticking with to the end as the S1 finale was great!
Season 2, however, is spot on the money, at the same time that ST:Enterprise was dying on its ass, BSG was kicking it in the face whilst it was already down. Where Enterprise was taking 4-6 weeks to cover off a story arc, BSG was telling the same amount of story in a single 45 minute episode, so when you start building 4-6 week arcs it is very intense.
The pace of BSG is like nothing else out there, sure it has its share of bottle episodes not-so-relevent to the overall storyline, but it is relentlessly difficult to follow at times as the writers assume you are smart enough to figure out what has gone on beforehand (the exact opposite of Lost) and this is why it sits head and shoulders above everything else out there – it actually has respect for its viewers intelligence.
Problem is, this makes it almost impossible to pick up halfway through, and yes, they faced renewal problems only made worse by the start of S3.
The beginning of season 3 draws parallels with the US occupation of Iraq, and that was very very damaging for them. I am not going to debate this now, just pointing out a fact, but for those of us who can see beyond the storyline and understand what the writers were trying to do, it really is a superb piece of prose, and cleverly designed to fit in with the overall story.
And without spoiling anything, that gets us to now, the start of S4
The BSG writers were very concerned that they did not have quite enough material for a further two seasons, but had too much for one. So Sci-Fi commissioned them for a 26 week run + the Razor special (which as someone pointed out is a great way to get into the style of the show and sample the action to see if you like it) which is unheard of.
So, 23 weeks + the 2 hour finale to come!
11 of the 12 are revealed.
If you are going to try this show, get into it now so can you be up with it for the end of the whole thing!

This is the night time equivalent of “The Guiding Light” or “Days of our Lives”….it’s a friggin soap opera. But day time soaps are better. They’ve had a lot more practice at cheesy story arcs.
