    Hi guys,

i am a game developer. I understand that all you guys out there want to play great games like Batman Arkham Asylum!

But you have to understand that we need your financial support for developing wonderful games like this. Therefore it is necessary that you buy the games instead of downloading them from dubious sources.

Avoid the hassle with illegal copies (as can be seen here with the bugs which are caused by the crack) and get the game either from your local store or from your favorite shop over the net!

I hope you enjoy the original version!

    Your dev

    hey developer,
I've got my copy of Batman AA pre-order for a long time, I just can't wait to play it.. this is what I'm doing all the time, I'm playing the game if it's "online" first, if it's a good game, I'll buy it than for my collection (I've got more than 50 boxes already), but when there's great and awaiting game like Batman, I have no problem to pre-order, but seriously, the game will be in stores on 18th, but we're able to play it already, is it fair? I don't mind, as far as I want upload my scores and achievements on LIVE!, I'll buy the game for sure, unfortunatelly it'll be finished when my box arrive

    @Developer

Actually I buy every worthwhile game I pirate. I pirate roughly 10-20 games a month and buy perhaps 1 or 2 a month. Too many games are released strewn with bugs and terrible design choices. I couldn't care less if the competition is charging $60, that doesn't mean the new instalment of 'WWE' should be the same price as an entirely new game like Batman, nor does it mean that totally FUBAR games like ARMA 2 should be the same price as functioning games (again, like batman:AA). Unfortunately the media industry (it's not just games, this same issue runs across all media from film to music) has proven itself consistently untrustworthy and whenever a legitimate complaint is raised their representative bodies ignore it and fabricate flamboyant statistics to garnish their redundant websites and ad campaigns with. When those statistics are shown to be dubious the representative bodies continue to ignore their consumer and launch the next step in their 'oh poor us' tirade.

I've bought Batman:AA and will continue to buy games of a similar quality, so if you want us to buy your games then don't come here and whine at us, just make sure everything you release matches or exceeds the precedent set by games such as Batman:AA.

    Hi guys,

thanks for your answer. But you have to understand that pirating software is illegal.

Would it be ok for you if someone stole your car (just because his newly bought car is due to arrive later)?

No, it would not. So therefore please follow the law and support the game developers. Only if you support us enables us to bring out more fantastic games. That is what you want, isn't it?

And no: If you never intended to buy the game, it is nevertheless amoral and illegal to download it from pirate sources and play it. Software piracy is a crime and also ruins the computer entertainment industry.

Another reason for you not to use those dubious cracks and copies is that the majority of them is infected with trojans and viruses. You do not want to become victim to data theft and fraud, do you?

So therefore please just wait a few days and buy this game (amazon.com is trustworthy internet store).
    Original games are more fun!

actual every original game have glitches

    from slow repose time
to at times no visible active goals to process to next level
unless you go around a 2nd time pass to that same place then it will activate

like when you play sports games vs. someone i know i pushed that button faster then my younger brother & still game chose him to intercept my ball in football nfl
never will play those sport vs. games again

maybe a shooter but still winner is not the real winner
its who has the less glitches

    September 8th, 2009 | 23:25

    Hi Developer.

Software pirating is illegal, yes. But it is also much more convenient to pirate, than to head down to a store and buy it, or wait for an online order to arrive.

When a consumer buys something, they'd really rather prefer that they got it right away. So, support online purchases and downloads, (like Steam) but make sure that your download servers are nice and fast.

Instant gratification and enjoyment of games are more fun!

    To Developer YOU WROTE:

thanks for your answer. But you have to understand that pirating software is illegal.

Would it be ok for you if someone stole your car (just because his newly bought car is due to arrive later)?

Well heres a question for you: You are comparing your software to a car. Hmmm. So if you sold us a brand new car ( lets call that car Arma 2, or any other game i mentioned before) and I drove it away (played it) and it breaks down ( does not work as advertised) 10 feet outside the lot ( gamestore ) You can just take my money and say…"hey, you bought it and drove it (opened the package) now I get your money and you have a piece of crap.

  27. Consumer
    September 8th, 2009 | 23:30

    September 8th, 2009 | 23:30

    @Dev

firstly, what exactly are you doing on this site if you are so opposed to the "amoral" activities of illegal downloads.

Secondly, filesharing and piracy, and general internet activity has NOTHING to do with software companies funding new games or development houses, something that you would probably know if you were actually in the business.

Btw, it was a lovely fallacy that you introduced with "if someone stole your car" – the two things are completley different, it would be more like "how would you feel if you sold your car, then someone stole it from the person you had sold it to"

you may also wish to check your grammar next time you post somewhere

btw, I still can't find Dr.Young's fingerprints.. I found online, that they're located on the statue in Arkham Mansion, but I can make as much evidence as I want, there's no single fingerprint.. and of course, I can't leave the Mansion because of the grapple bug too:(

  36. Dave
    September 8th, 2009 | 23:45

    @Developer
wow, you've managed to hit the "Piracy is theft" fallacy, the "poor developers need your money to make games" fallacy and the "Cracks = security threats" fallacy all in the space of two posts. Impressive.

Piracy isn't theft. No court in the world has ever convicted anyone of theft for software piracy. EVER. Equating software pirates with thieves is therefore treading quite close to libel (which is surprise, surprise, also illegal).

You do not need "our" support to continue making games. That will become a valid excuse when revenues from games drop so low as to absolutely prohibit the production of further games. As this is an Eidos game, the development money is easily obtained from Square Enix Europe. You're not exactly hurting for cash.

And as for the "don't pirate, you'll get viruses!" fallacy, it's no more or less dangerous than downloading any other file from the Internet from a source you don't know is legit. In fact, it's significantly LESS so because the commenter here will quickly flag up any infected files. This is what a peer-vetted system lookslike.

Oh, and as for the "Avoid the hassle with illegal copies (as can be seen here with the bugs which are caused by the crack)" – the bugs are caused by SecuRom's program hooks being triggered (or perhaps *not* being triggered), it's not the crack that causes the bug, it's the lack of DRM.

Developer, you would have a slightly higher moral position to lecture from if you weren't trying to surreptitiously install software that operates at ring 0 level and is almost completely unremovable – and doing this to legitimate users, people who ARE supporting you and ARE funding your next development project. Using SecuRom basically nullifies any moral argument you have against piracy because you are effectively putting your own profit above the stability and integrity of the systems owned by your end users.

There is, in short, a reason that Spore was the most pirated game in history.

If you want to engage with pirates, fine, but a lecture and cries of "But it's illegalz" won't work. Why? Because we already know.

I tested it with my old Ivy "black room" savegame.

The wall at the Beginning of the botanic garden is gone and when i enter the Ivy room it is still black and i fall, but i can glide and suddenly i die. After that i get an Ivy End. "You loose" or somesthing. With the old crack i couldnt glide and was falling a long time, without the Ivy End.
Maybe it really works if i start a new game and reload the save if there are no plants or enemies.

    all right, sorry.

It worked for me, I really thought it wouldn't, but it did. The thing is I was stuck just outside Dr.Young's office, I went one checkpoint back and came back again and the grapple point was there. Still, apparently it won't fix all the problems so I may face other grapple bugs in the future.

@Developer, if you are what you are, not someone who does this text for fun, then:

Internet cannot be a point for activating a product. Because we bought it from you, like a painting, or you say, a car. And I can do whatever I want it with it. Not to copy and sell, but actually making a backup, or I bring it to play on my laptop, where there is no INTERNET!!!! The point of install is Yacht where I brough my new laptop to watch movies or play games in "boring time, in between sex".
And the most noticable, Internet is not a part of PC component and it never will be. Nor it can be stored on DVD like OS and other software that is needed for hardware to run. And other software on it.

Piracy is not consumer fault, but company "lawyers", and developers.
For first, way too much greed, and for second lazyness, and between "hurry up, the premiere/launch day must be 11.11.2011".
If art is operated by Greed, deadline and lack of missing Quality Check, in making 3rd or worst 5th patch for game, then I do not know what to say.

Remember, there are 3rd world countries that buy PC of 24 monthly credit that are capable of running B:AA, but hey, B:AA cost there 50 euros. Until it costs 20, it will be pirated. Or if "USA" or Russia for all I care, "fix" this world, but not by wars.

So go complain to your "real" bosses, why this world has piracy, and too much lawyers.

@Alexander – right, in my country is the average sallary around 300 Euros, and original games cost here 60-70 Euros. If I want to buy a original ,I would order it via the internet, but hay, I have to pay shipping costs + my country takes taxes for almost any product that you get from some other country, and I have to wait at least 7 days for it to arrive. I find it easier just to download it :/

    @Hamaga
U can use steam or simmilar, but some countries have problem in online paying for digital distribution, or if internet capable to pay and download, to make digital distribution that costs less for certain countries by their average salary. Can cost 50$ in USA, but in my country must cost at most 30 euros. It so the same, 60 euros for new and AAA title. And capable of burning backup, without any internet activation.

Then yes I'm ready to pay. Of course I have few originals, and I play games that accord to my taste, and there aren't many. But to pay 50 euros? At start, either pirate or later wait to buy the game. And I did if I liked it after so called piracy. And most of all, it comes here really later in disc form.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your answers! Most of them were very interesting and showed your (sometimes flawed but nevertheless) enlightening points of view.

Especially to sean: There is no need to be rude:
"They should just change the title of this post to "Respond to a 'Developer' troll" about why he's wrong and you're right and if you remember once you're done with your essay to 'Developer' comment on the new Batman Arkham Asylum crackfix""

If you care about video game development then it should be high priority for you to think about the sustainability of the video game industry. Without buying customers there is no chance for the developers and publishers in this market to survive. Do you all really want that?
Only by showing financial support (that is buying the games) you can show your gratitude for new entertaining media.

So think just a moment about this: How should computer game developers like myself earn enough money if you do not pay for using our products?

Regarding (copy and other) protection measures: Without these an even higher percentage of users would steal our intellectual property and deprive us of our well earned payment. If there were not copy protection more users would use illegal copies of our games and because of that the revenues of the video game industry would fall down into the cellar. The publishers will not let that happen.

So you have to arrange yourself with copy protection. That is no big deal for the honest customer.

And yes: The crack is the root of your problems with this game. It does not correctly override the triggers. But do not blame the copy protection measures. They work as intended! With the original game you won't need any sort of crackfix and you will enjoy the gaming it much more!

Last but not least it is never too late to turn into a honest customer of our games. If you really want to play them buy them. If you do not buy them please do not use illegal copies of them. That would be punishable by law and also immoral. You all can be held legally responsible for what you do!

Support the video game industry. Don't turn into a thief!

    Your dev.

  61. Terry
    September 9th, 2009 | 03:33

"Only if you support us enables us to bring out more fantastic games. That is what you want, isn't it?"

Between you and me, more fantastic games will continue to flow regardless. It's just how it works. Game developers are supposed to get the satisfaction from the fans, not from their cash.

I'm a game developer myself. I'm not deep into the industry but I'm learning. I'm currently working on a project with 25 other, very talented people. A game, which we've been working on for 2 years so far and is still in development. When it's complete we'll release it to the public for free to enjoy. I'm 21 and I wouldn't spend a second doing that if I didn't enjoy it. Money isn't going to change that at all.

  62. Developer
    September 9th, 2009 | 03:34

    @unreal

That is the right kind of spirit! With every copy sold the possibility for the publisher and developer of this game to create new fantastic video game experiences for all their fans is rising!

  63. Developer
    September 9th, 2009 | 03:42

    Hi Terry,

    regarding your statement:
"It's just how it works. Game developers are supposed to get the satisfaction from the fans, not from their cash."

And how do you think these persons should pay their rent? Nobody can live without income.

But maybe you only have this point of view because you are not really "deep in the industry" as you say yourself. For professional video game developers this is their job. This is the way they get their income.

Every person who decides to illegally copy our games instead of buying it is depriving us of our payment.

That is not fair, or is it?

There is a big difference in professional and non-professional video game development. The first kind of persons is making a living from it!

with all due respect "Developer", shouldn't it then fall back to the game developer/publisher themselves to prevent these kind of leaks and secure their products far more carefully????

I don't see why those who use torrents shouldn't be allowed to download software that has been leaked/hacked/cracked etc etc

It's the industries fault. And let's face it, it's easy and FREE publicity for the products.

I've boughten this game on my 360 due to wait times so I consider myself to have paid already thank you Developer and if they wanted my PC money they should have had a release at the same time. This isn't copy protection, they're using it as an excuse because of their glitches that will be fixed with a patch a few days after release. Don't believe the official statements because they're just lies to cover up their own mistakes.

Personally, I say fine, you wanta come on to sites like this and lecture to us how we are thieves (fyi most of us are buying the damn game anyways) and how you will not be able to make games, then fine, that's a bluff I'm willing to call. Stop making games! I'll wait…………. We good? You set fire to your office yet? No? Well why not? We aren't supporting you with our money according to your way of thinking so therefore you must shut down right? You're just like everyone else, full of sh*t when it comes right down to it. I bet you aren't even a dev… Hell knowing half the people on here and how much they like to troll, it's probably one of us just acting like it… Just STFU and go away… You're like a kid on a playground and we are the bullies, in the end of the day, you may come and act tough but we still beat the crap out of you and take your lunch money… (Even though we are paying for you priceless game)

    Hi vlaka,

"with all due respect "Developer", shouldn't it then fall back to the game developer/publisher themselves to prevent these kind of leaks and secure their products far more carefully????"

Leaks cannot be prevented. There is no such thing as total security/safety. Therefore we have to live with leaked versions (we have another layer of security with the copy protection measures).

But nevertheless it is not legal for persons to use illegal copies and circumventing our protection measures with cracks.

"It's the industries fault. And let's face it, it's easy and FREE publicity for the products."

I am sorry but that is a rather blunt argument. Nobody would argue that it is free publicity for e.g. Ferrari if their cars were stolen.

Only sold originals are support for the video game industry.

    Hi knux,

I do not know why there is so much hatred in your posting.

Nevertheless: It is illegal to use illegal copies. You have to understand that. The reason why it is illegal is that the copyright holders have a right to their intellectual property.

If you really want to play games like this why not just buy it? Be a big guy and behave like an adult. Adults pay for what they want!

Regarding "visiting" this site: Did you really think that nobody out of the video game industry (or other parts of the media industry) knew of sites like this? After all there are IT-specialists working there.

Developer, I buy MOST of my games I see that I like, if I happen to download them it's because they were FIRST made console exclusive or came out later on for the PC in which case I figure I already made my purchase, some of us here do end up buying the game release day or later on when we have the money. Some people just come here to leech with no intentions to buy the copy when it does arrive which is sad but what can you do? Laws regrading piracy are really hard to enforce because so many people do it. I respect your view point but you can't come to this site and tell us to buy a legal copy, people here won't care. The people here are to look for the latest download, take it, and run.

Hey Developer I´m from south america and in the country where we live there is no legal contemplation for videogames, only for movies and music. And that's because the gaming companies do not have presence even by a third party (like movies with the local cinema group). Down here 1 original game cost 100 of your dollars and most people couldn't possible even dream of getting an original. The playstations 1 & 2 and the wii, are sold in stores and our shoppings centers WITH THE MOD CHIP INCLUDED, and they sell all home made copies. The playstation 3 cost U$S700 at 09/2009 so do the xbox360. Only the rich people play with those. At this date refubrished PENTIUMS 4 (and even pentiums 3), are sold at aprox. U$S200 so the most part of our population can even know what is the internet. Pirate games are sold openly at the public in open markets, in the streets, shoppings, etc as cheap as U$S 4 (homemade ''Backups, with printed covers''). This is a little country (Uruguay) and food and clothes are really cheap compared to the 1st world. I know many people from your country (young and old) who get money from there (work overseas, teleworking)and they live like kings here. With your salary you could buy entire apartaments and live from the rents without moving a muscle for the rest of your life. Ok to clarify I'm talking about U$S 1500-2000 per month. Here if you earn that you can feed a big family, a couple of lovers, and your own house. And it's not like africa or haiti, search in google.
The videogame industry does not have this part in check because is such a small market that it would lost money. And is the same for the big countries here Brazil, and Argentina, but the scale is further because there are more people. So I (and maybe a 5 of other guys from here tops not more), are downloading from here. Oh just microsoft have legal representation down here cuz our goverment needs to buy legal so up there they not check us as cheap little pirates (wich we are if we like to play, sorry).
I appreciate your amazing work, sorry for not being rich, sorry for having to pay humungous taxes when buying original games. We are down here waiting and watching up there for your great work, really wish people here had the money to buy original, but hey… what you gona do? you gotta play when you gotta play.
Sorry for my english, and the long response, got a little carried away. Also love Dexter, downloading now in blueray rip (wich only a geeks and stupid rich people know what it is/know that it exist, in that oreder respectivatly).

    @Developer

Bugs are not caused by the crack, bugs are caused by intrusive DRM software used by the game – something that may be the cause why people do not buy the game in the first place (think Spore)

Pirated games fill a niche that is unlimited trial of Single player portion of any game.

If we assume there are good games then opposite must also be true. Poor and/or overhyped games get evaluation before they are paid for.

And most importantly… Pirates do pay… they pay more then average Joe for music, movies and games. We are your best customer – embrace us and we shall show you our love in return.

are you not still getting paid? i'm imagining you get a moderate base-salary and a menial royalty, so how exactly are you feeling the pinch? you obviously still have a job, and are proud enough to (uselessly) defend the industry.

the bottom line is; you cannot stop us, whether by guilting us out of a download, or trying to beef up your copyright security, because there will always be a way around it and a person to exploit it.

i've been hearing about mid-level game developers that actually incorporate piracy in their business models. by offering the game for free, but charging for unlocked/online content or expansions. now THAT'S forward thinking.

in conclusion; piss off, you're getting in the way, and you're giving yourself carpel tunnel syndrome.

I can only assume you are probably one of the noobs that are bored on the net and are being sarcastic just to see what people will respond with and flame you away, whilst you sit here and chuckle ( I know I did reading your comments).

However if you are a DEV, then you can stop playing the financial (pay the rent) card, I know people who are game devs for big companies like Crytek, they get business class tickets to fly from London to Frankfurt just to have an interview.

    Bottom line:

You will still get paid regardless.

Granted most software companies will encourage you to spread the word and use propaganda to defend their DRM strategies, also show you a lot of pointless graphs, media, ethics and all kinds of stuff. You will take it all in, feel like you need to change the world, but every end of the month you will check your bank account, that US so called "pirates" and "thieves" who are immoral and evil

    Hi Guys!
I want to tell you about a story from my childhood. When I was a kid, I used to play on my old Amiga. At the time I was running with a rough crowd, I mean these guys would trade anywhere from two to thirty diskettes in a week. These games were pirated. At the time I was very naive, and I accepted it as something that didn't hurt anyone. Then one day a commercial came on saying "Don't copy that floppy", my world fell upside down. When I went to my mother and told her of the crimes I had committed, she freaked out and said "You're moving in with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air." I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said "FRESH" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought "Nah, forget it, yo homes to Bel-Air!" I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 and I yelled to the cabby "Yo homes, smell ya later!" Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air.

pfff…my story is better. I used to remove copy protection from applications, games, and anything I could get my hands on. I even joined a well-known piracy group. But then, in 1972, my group was sent to prison by a military court for a crime we didn’t commit. We promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, we survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can't find us, maybe you can hire the Piracy-Team.

    Hi guys,

how do you think should the devs of this game get paid if you steal their work (and yes: unauthorized copying is like stealing their profits!)? If the publishing and developing companies do not make enough money the first thing that happens is laying off some of their staff.

Do you really think it is fair that you enjoy our games (and yes you do, otherwise you would not invest your time playing them!) and do not pay for them at them same time?

Many of my colleagues at work do have family and have to earn enough to make a decent living. What should they do in your opinion? Stop developing games?

Maybe a contributing factor is that many of you do not have to live on your own (with your own job).

Just think about the developers behind games like this or games on a smaller scale like Braid or World of Goo. By illegally copying their software you destroying their possibility to go on with their job. On the long run you yourself are responsible with your actions for new copyright enforcing measures (it is the crackers and software pirates fault that publishers have to use DRM!) and destroying the landscape of the video game industry.

So just think a moment about that. If you do not really want this outcome just go to your store and buy the original game (the Internet made it even possible for you to get your games comfortably delivered!)

    Your dev.

    dear developer,
you should first think before you write, main reason for piracy is inadequate price ,no guarantees when game is bad , no chance to try out game before actually buying it, bandwagon of middlemen between developers and customer, corporate greed which drives games prices up, for example in us games are cheap in relation to income of ppl, in eu are prices much higher and when you look in other countries you realize that they cant buy game which cost 60 usd , i mean would you buy game if it cost for example 1/2 of your week income ?

People having grapple problems: download a trainer from gamecopy world, initiate float, then increase height.

you don't need to grapple. Sometimes going back or shutting down and forcing the game to reinitialize fixes the problem.

With the invisible plants: I had the same problem, take out that grapple thing that lets you slide over it in a straight line.
Then stand on the left vent. It's very tricky but you have to find a spot for it to lock on. There is one, it forces you on the invisible stuff. And then with some manoeuvring you can get off. After that continue until you get to poison ivy.

Then you fall through the ground into the abyss because the game didn't load well. PHANTOM LEVELLLLLLLL

    Hi Guys,
Downloading games is technically illegal, but it is not the same thing as stealing. When you steal something from someone, they no longer have it. When you download from someone, you're just making a copy of their file. That's simple logic.

Would you accept a file from someone if you knew they had downloaded it from someone else, and that no one had their copy stolen? Of course you would, nothing was stolen.

@ Developer (If that is what you really are)

I only download illegal copies of PC games that do not have any demos provided for it. You provided a demo, therefore I did not download this game illegally from the internet. I am currently waiting for September 15th for this game to be released on the PC. The reason why I am here now is because someone told me about this thread and I have decided to respond.

However for the PC games that do not provide demos, I will download illegally so I can determine whether if I will…

    a.) .. like the game
b.) .. works well with my computer system specifications

… if the game meets these requirements then I will buy the game. If not, then I will be glad I did not waste money. Also, I do not trust review sites. Review site scores can be skewed with the right "persuasion" and yes I know this happens. I can only trust my own experience with the game.

I am not afraid of DRM that comes with PC games. I usually just download a NO-CD crack from the internet for convenience. I do not like having to install an entire game to my hard drive, and STILL require the disk in order to play it. It's inconvenient for me.

Those are my justifications for downloading illegal copies of games. I am going to buy this game in the end, and you're going to get my money. Provided that you developers meet MY requirements for a good gaming experience.

I am in fact NOT a developer, but a fanged bridge-troll. I pride myself on my ability to mildly annoy a group of people who are simply waiting impatiently for a proper crack for this game.

None of my arguments have any real merit, and are merely troll regurgitations from angry men with cash who don't to lose all of their, ahem, 'hard-earned' money.

I don't really understand that the true power of the internet is to give some power back to the lower class.

I also don't understand that games are art, their ideas are meant to be shared, and not just to those who can afford them.

I don't understand that if piracy somehow robs developers of money, and I am not saying that it does, then we should make cheaper games.

Okay, so you caught me, I am not 'Developer', but neither are you.

-Whoever you are, come up with a thoughful argument, or the crack for this game, or stfu if you please

i cant believe anyone would be giving this developer guy crap, yes we are stealing this game. It seems a lot of time was put into this game by a lot of people and collectively we are not paying for it… just because a large group of people is paying for it making up for our stealing doesnt make it any better. Almost every business has theft built into its pricing structure from grocery stores to insurance companies, it hurts everyone.

Also it is starting to affect bottom lines, the pc platform is becoming less profitable and most of the best games from here on in will be cross platform or MMORPG games you wont see TOO MANY big budget PC specific or even primary games as its just not as profitable as it was.

So steal the game, but dont kid yourselves im not… we are stealing this game.

    Hi chelmsley,

thank your for your very insightful posting. You hit the point by honestly admitting that piracy is a crime and is destroying the video game industry.

    @151.
"I also don't understand that games are art, their ideas are meant to be shared, and not just to those who can afford them. "

Games are art and they have to paid for. You are not allowed to steal pictures or paintings. Neither are you allowed to do that with software (and video games).

Software piracy is a crime. Do not deny that there are victims. Do not deny that you criminally take away the fruits of the labor of the game developers. Think about the consequences of your deeds: You are robbing the persons who give you so much by developing entertaining games.

Do you think that is moral? Or fair? Do you really think that the PC video game market will survive this way? Or are you just some egocentric thief?

    Think about that!

    Your dev.

@153, I can confirm that the trainer supplied by post 138, Dennis, is legit and worked great to help me get past the part with no grapple point after fighting the mass amount of thugs and bane wannabes. I'm fairly certain that the trainer would have worked for all the other glitches I have encountered as well.

    @ Developer,

"But maybe you only have this point of view because you are not really "deep in the industry" as you say yourself. For professional video game developers this is their job. This is the way they get their income."

Gaming is my art, it's what I love to do and I expect nothing in return. I just want people to enjoy my art and appreciate it by actually playing it and admiring it.

You talk like it's new. Pirating. It's been around for years now and it's not going to change. Heck, it's actually getting worse. It's just how it works. People can't afford these things, so they pirate. Maybe you're missing the point that they want to enjoy these things too. They want to taste it and love it just like you and I do.
I don't justify it, but it's the reality.

I wouldn't mind if people pirated my games. Heck, I would appreciate the fact that they are even bothering to get it. I would be honored.

Maybe it sounds far fetched to you but I didn't grow with a silver spoon and money is irrelevant to me. Making money for a living will be one thing I'll have to face like every other person on this planet. The old fashion way.

But the one thing I'm looking for in my life, aside from being happy, is to be acknowledged by gamers and artists all around. Money doesn't buy either of these things. If it did, I wouldn't be doing what I do.

Guys, that poster is not a developer, he is either some marketing guy paid by Eidos for preaching against piracy, or just a 12yo fanboy.

A "developer" (programmer, designer, etc. who works for RockSteady) wouldn't be wasting time here coming to a pirate community to talk about piracy. Developers get their payments every month since they are funded by the publishers.

Developers only build the games but they are not the ones in charge of selling them. So they don't lose money when you pirate the game, publishers do. Publishers are the companies that sell you games.

Basically you are arguing with somebody from Eidos, the publisher, and they only care about money. They don't give a flip about art, game development, or what might the community expect from the games.

you dont seem to realize the wide range of adquisitive powers around the globe.
ie. theres a guy who get paid 2.5k a month and has living expenses up to 1.8k, whith the remainder of the money, he buys 1 game p/month, and the rest goes into the never-ending girlfriend pit, were you spend all your money to get laid (or you buy 5 games a month and masturbate a lot)
ie2. a guy in Argentina, geting paid $500 (1.8k pesos aprox) who has to sell his first born in order to get that damn $50 game.
(and im not kidding, thats my personal situation)

so you see, theres even a need for piracy, at least in 3world countries. Dont get me wrong, it IS illegal, and it IS stealing, but, in the words of Friedrich Nietzsche 'All idealism is falsehood in the face of necessity.'

    Hi guys,

"ie2. a guy in Argentina, geting paid $500 (1.8k pesos aprox) who has to sell his first born in order to get that damn $50 game."

So what? If you saw a car which you could not afford would you steal it?

"Dont get me wrong, it IS illegal, and it IS stealing,"

At least you are admitting it.

Illegal copying and filesharing is stealing and ruining the video game industry! Software pirates are responsible for all the copyright protection measures. Because of them they have to be implemented to protect the intellectual property of its owners.

"'All idealism is falsehood in the face of necessity.'"

What if a poor person broke into your house or that of your parents and killed you or them or hold you or them hostage just because he needed your house?

Some of my more unfortunate colleagues lost their jobs because of software piracy in the video game industry. Is it fair that software thieves caused this?

    Your dev.

  158. chelmsley
    September 10th, 2009 | 19:53

Its funny that because youre not stealing a physical thing you think youre not stealing. You steal a candybar, most of the cost of the candybar is from labor producing the raw products, shipping them and manufacturing the bar and wrapper, marketing and shipping the product to its different stores. Take out the cost of just the materials (and not the labor required to get the raw materials to the manufacturer) and a candybar would still cost a decent amount.

Same with games. We are robbing from someone and it has affected things, Pc's as a gaming platform is becoming a dieing breed. Their wont be too many more big budget pc only or primarily pc games. You'll see smaller games, MMO games and games that are cross platform but its just not worth it (even with no royalties paid to a console manufacturer) to produce a big budget game for the pc the percentage of piracy is too high.

I steal games though, but dont fool yourself we are stealing these games. Its almost the same as skipping past a retail store and going to a back alley to a guy with a van and paying 10% of retail value to buy an LCD. We know we are buying stolen property (in piracy case its the cost of signing up to Rapidshare or whatever file server we use).

  159. chelmsley
    September 10th, 2009 | 20:09

I cant believe how dumb some people in here are. WE ARE STEALING. Just because we dont think its fair that games cost $50 and that a few people that own the companies get rich doesnt mean we arent stealing. Just because its a copy and not actually physically stealing doesnt mean its not stealing.

If you pay a company to build a blueprint of a house for you then when you see the blueprint you pop in your USB drive make a copy and take the copy without paying for it, is that not stealing?

If its so hard to understand youre stealing a product then look at it as youre stealing a service. Say 100 people worked on this game at 1000 hours per person and they are paid $50 an hour. Thats $5,000,000 to produce that game plus their are a lot more expensee; insurance for workers, job site, equipment, cost to make cds and packaging etc…

So say after its all said and done they make X amount of copies of the game and each copy when you break it down costs them about $20 to make. So they sell it for $50. Now a game company NEEDS to make a hefty profit off the game because they need to use that money to produce the next game or games and they wont have barely any money coming in while theyre doing it.

Look at how many small game developers have gone out of business or been bought out by the bigger guys (and all the bigger guys produce games cross-platform) being a PC only developer just isnt profitable and its at least partly due to the rampant piracy. I mean new 3d cards are being developed and sold like hot-cakes the PC as a gaming platform is great but its just too easy to pirate.

    We are stealing.

And to the guy who says its art and you want people to enjoy it. What do you do for work? Thats whats you get paid for. Im betting the games you make arent nearly as intricate as Batman, with motion capturing, expensive voice acting and a lot of detail and thought put into everything. These guys spend 40-60hours a week making this game, they should get paid for all the work they do.

I just dont get this argument that we arent stealing.

    Hi guys,

it is good that some of you understand that your actions are immoral and illegal.

Other than that they also lead you not to really enjoy games like this. Why? Because the crack does not really work (there are many more triggers left because of the copyright protection measures). So why not just wait a bit and buy the real deal?

You will be much more happier with the original! And the risk of getting caught by federal law enforcement is something you should think about!

Piracy is a crime. And it is destroying the lives of those who develop games for you.

Regarding your comparison between murder and software piracy: Someone here mentioned that it would be ok for a person to copy and steal, in other words to behave illegally and immoral just because he could not afford to buy a product and had a "need" for it. So the question arises: How far would you go? How far would anyone be allowed to go in your opinion to get what he states he is needing?

    Hi guys,

Replies to this thread are slowing down, and it's quite boring to read what is essentially the same argument from all of you, so it's time to come clean. As most people have guessed, i'm obviously _not_ a real software developer. Honestly, you think a real dev would come on a piracy forum just to argue against software piracy? What started as a bit of a joke has now turned into a huge laugh – over 200 posts on this thread and most of them are replies to me. I trolled you guys hard, and I still can't believe that 95% of you took me seriously. To all the people who replied to me (especially those who wrote long multi-paragraph replies): don't take this the wrong way, but you guys are gullible idiots!

    I'm still laughing at you.

    Your dev.

Yes you may be trolling us, but this really did give us an interesting topic to talk about. Thanks for bringing it up.

for some reason I can't get the game to save, everytime I close the game I have to start a new one every single time… I downloaded the d2d version and applied the crack without playing the game first as to not screw it up, what am I doing wrong?

Needhelp: The original non-working crack had the save-game problem you described. Make sure you download the updated crack and you'll find that you can now save games.

Does somebody know if there is going to be a fix? I've heard that Eidos put the bugs in the game for a purpose.

i highly doubt Batman asylum will have problems earning cash, most pirates buy great and worthy titles for their collection, but with all the C.rap the industry produces and charges a fortune for i very much understand why people pick and choose, i personally buy games that get great reviews, and maybe i download them on my computer aswell if i have it on a console.

    @ dev
your one of those ppl who, in my country, we like to call "putos chupa-pijas". you oviously are a sad little man with a need to prove to yourself that you are soo slick. well, your not.
So, you got ppl into a debate, pulling argument out of your culo about murdering parents and stealing casr, and an angry fork-wielding torch-bearing developer mob coming at us for dling pirated software.
If you were a real dev, then at least the desperation of your arguments meaned something
but you should have never revealed the truth.
Now we understand all your farfetched arguments, and realize ur just an imbecil who couldnt defend a point in a debate if you were being threatened with a fih up your ass.

    sos simplemente un soretito triste.

    Hi all,

Just wanted to let you all know that I have just beaten the entire game using the updated crack. If you are still having issues, it simply means your saved game was using the old crack, and may require to re-install the game. Or maybe even starting a new game.

Also, Dev is a very successful troll. Since he, you know, just trolled almost everyone here.

    Good luck.

Do NOT download any of the separate RELOADED cracks. The crack is fine, but the .rar archives all contain a file called whysosrs.dll, which is infected with a virus.

    Hey Dev,
Have you ever thought about spending less money on copyright protection and lowering the retail cost of your games? Perhaps then the price will be low enough to deter someone from going through the hassle of cracking the game? I have been involved with piracy, cracks, progs, tweaks, punters, etc. for nearly 10 years now and have seen the same $hit over and over again. Perhaps you should be looking at alternative methods to prevent piracy???

just a comment(For those who dont know to crack it) ….

after reinstalling ,,,copy and replace the cracked bmstartapp.exe
    into the
    C:\Program Files\Eidos\Batman Arkham Asylum\Binaries folder..
    Run game from desktop.

and the game works perfectly..trust me..

yes u have to reinstall for it to work

  217. Don
    December 4th, 2009 | 17:26

To all who cant’t save… is simple… follow this:

    1. Install the game,
    2. apply the official v1.1 patch
    3. apply RELOADED‘s official v1.1 game crack to the game directory
    Program FilesEidosBatman Arkham Asylum
    Download Here: http://gf.wiretarget.com/bm/Batman%20-%20Arkham%20Asylum%20v1.1%20NoDVD.rar

    4. You have to make an offline account – BUT CALM DOWN, let me finish! Not many people are explaining how to do so very thoroughly.
What you need to do in the windows live B.S. is click “make a new account” option, NOW don‘t click the continue button (nuh uh) – instead click the BLUE HYPERLINK in the description (yeah, it‘s hidden near the bottom, click it to make a LOCAL – OFFLINE ACCOUNT) It‘s hidden and DOESN‘T LOOK LIKE A BUTTON. pretty sneaky eh? that‘s what people are overlooking! :-)

    5. Now, type in a name and continue, Save menu will pop up allowing you to select a slot to start a new game in.

    6. THE SAVE SYSTEM IS AUTOMATIC, it only saves at automatic checkpoints!!! There is no save option in the game menu, it is automatic.
