LoCAL brings us an older game, but newly released on the PAL format called Baroque. I am pretty sure a lot of you already know about this game, but I just wanted to give it a note.

How about some wii-scrubbed versions. Normal 1/2 the file size.
Scrubbed Wii games aren’t considered scene releases, since they don’t work on newer firmwares directly (work fine through gecko OS though).
I prefer downloading an extra couple of gb to ensure it is going to work regardless of firmware updates.

Ahhh yeah ok.. So ESPAL Wii possibly the biggest release group for Wii games use it or some simmilar system hence why if you search Espalwii on mini nova you will find that most games are under 1gb now.. unlike the old school system where it had to be the full 4.7gb iso.
I have followed Wii Modding from the start and trust me if you have a PAL wii and a modded console with a popular Wii mod chip like WiiKey you can update the Wii ANY way you like and you can update the WiiKey mod chip to any version and Wii scrubbed games will work 100% A-OK.
Are you forgetting that most Wii Scrubbed games are just compressed till you unrar them.. The game iso you get after unraring it is no different to any other iso. ( sure some like SmashBro are smaller but thats a Dual Layer game..

Just in case.
They are different you muppet, hence scrubbed games needing gecko OS to run if your wii is updated to 3.3 firmware, yet games that have not been scrubbed will work without the need for gecko. Both ways still require a modchip obviously. Seeing as none of us know what nintendo will try and break with 3.4 onwards firmware, a wise man leaves scrubbed games alone

A wii fitted with the $100 WiiKey mod chip 12 months ago NEVER updated can play ALL Wii Scrubbed games and unscrubbed games.
I have Mario Kart and Smash brothers both working 100% and I have never updated my wiikey and updated my nintendo 2 months ago. If I updated my ninendo in 5 minuets time maybe id need to update my wiikey via a 4mb download and trust me that is it.

Well, see, what kind of scrubbed games are you two talking about? Because, I have downloaded Zelda Twilight Princess at like 1.14 gigs, and after unraring it, it was 4.6 or whatever, That is the same size as if I was to download the full .iso, but I have also downloaded the scrubbed version of SSBB DVD5 version, and never had to update or anything for that(jeez, I am still on 3.2 firmware).
So I don’t know about this Gecko OS, but I have run both scrubbed down size for compression, and scrubbed where the game isn’t fully intact, i.e. SSBB.
I don’t know, but never update or anything when playing either.
I’m off topic so let me talk about the game.
I give it a 6 /10 I liked the weapons.
Some scenes reminded me of the old FF7 fights.

That’s why I’m confused when people say wii scrubbed isn’t any good.
Maybe its no good for some mod chips?
I have a WiiKey mod chip installed more than 6 months ago – never update and a Nintendo Wii updated probably no less than 2 months ago.
I also have that DVD5 version of SSBB its the single layer version with looped cut scenes and I had no problems at all.
+ Ive downloaded loads of sub 1000mb Wii games ( the all extract out to a full 4.6gb iso file ) and run fine.
Yes if you have not updated to 3.3 wii firmware they all do run fine, it is just when u update to 3.3 you have to start loading up gecko then the games to get scrubbed games working again. Not a life altering problem but a pain still. Future updates may make this more of a pain, also future hacks might make this easier, who knows. The who knows part makes non-scrubbed game the safer option and currently the easiest option.
Though it has to be said that it isn’t always possible to find the game you want non-scrubbed so…
So yes, lots of people will currently think that scrubbed games are no problem and to us non-updaters that would be right but when a game you want to play comes out that requires a 3.3 or higher update to work, that changes. It may not be a bad change but it shows the difference between scrubbed and non-scrubbed games. One has had padding removed and thus altered the iso, the other hasn’t. Just trying to clear this stuff up for peeps who may be reading

Notice that none of you actually know how the wii scrubbing do not work.
It opens the Iso, it checks through after “Junk” that it just fills it with 0s.
Then Winrar uses those 0 to compress it better.
Even when you unpack it it still will be 4.6GB when you started to rar it. The ISO is still a scrubbed (filled with 0s on the Junkdata.
Why doesn’t it work with Firmware 3.3? Well they patched the Trucha sign bug that Wiiscrubber uses, it can still be runned with GeckoOS.
There are custom IOSs that you can use to install the trucha bug again.
Scrub ya wii games…. 500mb – 1gigish better then this 4gig+ BS. Thanx any way, feel free 2 try again next time…..

Thats all very well and good Ares but what many people want is to write a disk and put it in and it works. If you have to start adding channels or custom anything it is effort and more learning to do. To you or I the fix may well be understandable but we are typing into comments that always contain such questions as, do I need a modchip to play, etc.
Also adding custom content to a wii gives nintendo more chance to spot what you are doing when you are online or with an update, so far not a real big problem but again, who knows. I do know however that they can’t spot my modchip.
Scrubbed games are great for the download aspect, I have some myself but I have to be aware that in the future I may well wish I hadn’t bothered with them, I also may well not
Seeing as we are so off topic…
Again for all those reading (the wii hacking/modding scene can be hard to understand sometimes as a lot of internet info is old), this game (Baroque) just requires a modchip to play, no homebrew channel, zelda hack or specific wii firmware required. Just use as a normal game disc, one written to disc obviously. Hope my over-long posts have helped somebody, lol.

so umm… that twilight hack if u do it do u still need a mod chip?
The twilight hack requires the use of Zelda Twilight Princess, so as long as you own it or can rent it, you can do that hack. You can’t use a “back up” version of the game.
…and it does not allow you to play this game or other wii disc based game copy (the twilight hack)… yet. They are getting much closer though…
It does open up the world of homebrew though and with that you can get emulators (snes, nes, sms etc), media players, an internet browser, ftp access to your sdcard, wii tools/apps, homebrew games and more. You are even able to play the downloadable games that nintendo are selling on the wii itself.
…and that’s why I can only imagine nintendo not being happy about that at all, I imagine they want to stop that stuff
