Barenaked Ladies - Snacktime (2008)
Barenaked Ladies. No idea, you’ve never heard this name? Well it was same with me, but these lads are pretty famous - they were nominated for Grammy and won less known Juno awards many times. The band is probably more popular in the North America but you could’ve heard about them too as their first album hit the streets back in 1989.
Anyway, this is a little special release as it’s a child album, but there are some nice tunes and it’s always good to have a bit of variety here at Releaselog. May be your kids will love this album…
“Snacktime,” a collection of original songs, will hit shelves May 6 through the band’s own label, Desperation Records. Vocalist/guitarist Ed Robertson said their inspiration came from the musical interests of their own children, who range in age from three months to 12 years. “Our collective kids now outnumber the band more than two to one,” Robertson said in a release.

Barenaked Ladies (often abbreviated BNL or occasionally BnL) is a Juno-winning and Grammy-nominated Canadian alternative rock band. The band is composed of Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Steven Page, Ed Robertson, Tyler Stewart, and formerly Andy Creeggan. They formed in 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario, at the time a suburb of Toronto. They are best known for their hit singles, “One Week”, “Pinch Me”, “If I Had $1000000″ and “Brian Wilson” and for their light-hearted, comedic performance style. The band’s trademark at live shows is humorous banter between songs, and improvised raps/songs, both of which are staples at virtually eve ry concert.

J.
My gawd.. HOW old are you guys?.. seriously? I’m 51 years old and although they’re NOT from MY era.. even I’ve heard of the Barenaked Ladies! Ever heard of Green Day? How ’bout Red Hot Chili Peppers? Foo fighters? Pearl.. uhhh.. forget it.
If I had a Million Dollars
I remember them, was never a fan but I really liked “The Bad Touch”.
great band, been around for a while
I believe “The Bad Touch” was a song by The Bloodhound Gang.
oh ok alrite but the story of the day was NIN distributed there New album in awesome quality for free cover that rlslog editors after all trent reznor is the only guy who uses the complete potential of bit torrent by embracing it and not fighting against it
and while we’re at it some one plz tell me whats the deal about the high definition WAVE 24/96 format
cheers and sorry for the off topic but i gues its too big a news to ignore
cheers
@2 - Seriously dude, I was thinking the exact same thing. I feel SO old right now cuz I know who these guys are and I´m only 25! I used to listen to “One week” with my buddies back when I was 15. Jesus, seems so long ago, but it was only 98´man..:D
Here´s the song - it´s REALLY catchy, you have been warned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O0r_U2fG-I

They sing the big bang theory tv show theme.
@9 What´s FNT? Thanks, DL now..:) (But says it´s not uploaded yet?)
Thanks Xerox©, will try when it’s fully uploaded
This is one of the greatest Canadian bands ever, and they are hilarious.
More like the Barenaked Pillowbiters if you ask me. These guys are homos. They are known for takin it up the rump.
Holy smokes Martin, how could you not have ever heard of these guys? That’s insane!! these guys used to be so huge it was ridiculous,
aren’t all of these guys releases kids albums? wannabe ska and ska in general blow.!
i like to play the all-star song as i try to commit suicide by stabbing a brick threw my head but the song never gets me that pumped up enough to do it. oh well i’m gonna go listen to creed!
the thing is the music is so different in every country. try to travel to south america, middle east, asia or australia and you will hear super famous bands in these countries / regions you’ve never even thought that exist. i could name you 10 bands everyone knows where i live, and you would most likely not know a single one of them. and finally, yeah, i would have probably known the band if i were canadian or us, but that’s not the case…
Not surprised that the RLSLOG editors aren’t familiar… after all, they aren’t club music or metal.
@9 xerox
Thnx a lot bro/sis, keep on posting, good job.
@martin they were big in the uk too
Martin, I usually enjoy your posts, but I think I like you a little less, now that you admit you didn’t know who barenaked ladies were. Unbelievable. I’ve only been listening to them since like the 90s. lol. GREAT post!
@6, indianpunk
the NIN album might be ignored because it’s not a scene release, and for technews it’s to new
jk, it should have been mentioned here already ffs!
and that 24/96 format is also called HD-Audio, most new onboard soundchips can handle it, and so does dedicated sound hardware for recording and gaming. iirc DVD-A and BD support this format amongst others, but it cant be burned to CDA sans conversion. afaik s/pdif does not support that resolution so it’s best if you have quality a/d convertors with your sound hardware.
hth
Finally, a Canadian band is on here lol.
If you haven’t heard of these guys, where have you been?
Download it and enjoy!
If I had a million dollars…sound familiar?

Is it too much to ask for posters/reviewers that are at least a little cultured. How someone who posts information about music hasn’t heard of a band that what was(a few years ago) a very well known band with i think a top ten single.\
Not that i have their posters on my wall but c’mon.
As to NIN,…meh(uncapitalized, just like the album.)
Well I’m from Czech republic and even I know this group…
Best Barenaked Ladies song is Upside Down.
Find it. Download it. Smile
Wow… what a classic band…
and what great grammar
After hearing the first track of this album, I take back my previous comment. Their best song is 7 8 9!
@7
likewise here too. at 24, i dont like being made to feel old. everybody knows the barenaked ladies - my dad even has one of their albums! they can be kinda funny sometimes; their song ‘if i had $1,000,000′ always makes me smile.
theyre a bit bland though - whats going on with all these music posts? none of them are good.
and how old are you martin, 13?
I love this band - been listening to them for years now.
But I’m a little surprised they didn’t use an alias for this album - “Barenaked Ladies” is not a phrase you’ll find in the typical kid’s music collection…
http://rapidshare.com/files/112875946/Barenaked.rar
it’s ridiculous that no one has heard of them. i’m 22 and my brother who’s a few years younger than me even knows them. if u havent heard “if i had a million dollars” then u are seriously sth around 12-16 yrs of age, nuttin wrong wit that.
These guys are the best LIVE.
Only band I’m willing to pay to see.
They’re ok, but they’re no Zed Zed Top.
/think outside the Bachs
Thanks Martin. Not my cup of tea but my kids will love them
Barney for adults.
