Anybody who can’t see the media decided this race long ago is blind and deaf. Sarah Palin was only a joke because the media characterized her as one. Obama didn’t need to make any attacks on McCain because the media did his dirty work for him. And there was little to no inquiry into Obama’s shady Chicago past.

The same corporations that gave Obama more money than any other candidate in history own the major media outlets. You expect them to be unbiased?

But don’t believe me. The next four years will speak for themselves. I’ll bet anybody $100 that you won’t be seeing any ‘Universal Health Care’.

Exactly my point. He complains about Americans without health care, and people surmise he will provide it to them. He declares that “no longer” will we watch American jobs go overseas, and yet his platform isn’t for reforming trade with China or anyone else.

He speaks of ends, with no means.

What kind of ‘change’ is he talking about?

  13. BarackObama
    November 5th, 2008 | 07:11

Thank you all for your vote! I look forward to bringing in change to this world. We are starting a new socialist republic and a new economy system. You voted for change and I am going to give it to you. Who do you think funded my campaign? Remember I am a politician and I do make my commissions. I am a political speaker and your vote shows that. Bringing troops out of Iraq is easier said than done. You caught me in 1 lie. There is a saying: “Money Is The Root Of All Evil”. Welcome to my world and the new world for all of you!

To all the haters: Na na naaaa naaaa, Na na naaaa naaa, Waaaaave, Gooodbye!!!!
You lost. Every time you see a smile on a democrats face just think about how horribly disgraced republicans are now. The republican’s were decimated this election and they completely deserved it. The only shining moment was McCain’s concession speech. The old honorable John McCain, who has been missing for so long, was finally back.

i think it’s funny that almost everyone who calls obama a ‘socialist’ is probably in a low income bracket anyways (hence, they won’t be the ones getting their pay taken away from them).. idiots

also, to mike; he hasnt been in office yet, so you’re drawing straws on what is going to be done. the same could be said about mccain, as his plan was not clearly laid out either. the rest of america saw the lack of priority and planning from mccain. you can disagree with the majority all you want, however the u.s. has chosen obama to be president by a large margin.

In practice, there is no difference between the parties. This is the fundamental truth of American democracy. Either way, the Mexican-American superhighway will continue to be build, disastrous free-trade with China will expand, foreign policy will proceed as it otherwise would.

It’s these debates, with the name calling and charges and counter charges, which dupe the American people in feeling as if the two parties they have to choose from are distinct from each other in any meaningful way. Both parties are bankrolled by the same interests, and the real contentious issues of the day are not even discussed.

You may notice that while I did criticize Obama in my previous comments, I never defended Bush. Rhetoric aside, in every meaningful way they are identical.

Look at Obamas campaign contributions, all are just under the minimum allowed without documentation, all come from same people just in many small amounts. Chicago is known for going around the system and ballot cheating. Obama wants to put everyone in middle class, the only change is in his plans. He changes his proposals and goals constantly to become more socialist. He wants to increase spending and give us more debt, and make an unequal taxation system more unequal. What happens when everyone works and puts money into the community pot, people say hey i dont want to work because i get my share from the pot anyway. Its called communism and socialism. Its proven a free market and minimum government is the only way to survive. Black president is awesome but people should have looked beyond that and actually took an economic class and paid attention to what Obama actually is trying to accomplish. Change is an open ended word from a simple minded senator with only 6 months of experience in the senate. Id much rather have an individual that was tortured for several months in war and grew up with morals than a black man raised by white people who never donated to charity until after he started running for president. the problem is ignorant uneducated bums that actually get to cast a vote to support something that they dont understand or even know the facts, no need tp revert back to white male land owners, but how about college grads who have an IQ of over 20.

After just having spent 8 years watching George spiral back into the bottle he came from, after he spent billions on a war he knew he couldn’t win by lying about weapons of mass destruction to get our OK, I’m rooting for Obama. He certainly can’t do any worse than the Republicans have done, and the fact that he has twice the IQ of George, and twice as much common sense appeals to me. I don’t know if any of you haters were paying attention, but Obama was at the top of his law class in College, a very very bright guy. George [and his dad if your paying attention] both made it through College with handshakes, winks and cash. Anyway, I know that Obama had to work twice as hard to get where he is today than most of you would have for obvious reasons, and his success didn’t come easy. I think he will do an excellent job, and I’m behind him 100%. Any Republican that would have been elected would simply have been another mouthpiece for that select group of 80+ year old “good ol’ boys” that have been making all important Republican decisions the past 50 years. They had their chance, let’s see what someone who actually cares can do.

Some of the ignorance on display here is amazing I have absolutely no faith that Obama will be able to do anything different from a rethug prez simply because these guys are two sides of the same coin the amerikan empire war party, that will not change until we in the rest of the world force the destruction of that empire just as every other empire has been destroyed by those it oppresses deciding we aren’t gonna take it any more. But even so the drongos who call Obama a socialists have forgotten that their prez shrub just had the government buy a controlling share in all of amerika’s major banks plus the biggest insurance companies and the two largest mortgage underwriters. If that isn’t classic socialism I don’t know what is.
But the silliest statement came from the poster who described Mccain as a war hero. Mccain crashed 3 planes before he persuaded his daddy (who was an admiral just like his daddy before him)get him off the ship he had been serving on where he was being investigated for falling asleep drunk with a lighted cigarette, the ship (Forrestal) caught fire and 134 seamen died. Johnny took off without a word to anyone, the survivors were still in shock but johnny flew to London where daddy, Admiral John McCain II was putting together the team to investigate the fire. Mccain the younger persuaded dad to let him fly in Vietnam and daddy who was just about to take command of of all forces in Vietnam agreed hoping that he could keep an eye on his errant son. After 3 missions bombing defenceless civilians johnny crashed into a lake where an extremely brave vietnamese civilian rescued him from the angry citizens he had been bombing (mccain later said he hates that hero just like all gooks). Fellow POW’s at the same camp Ted Guy, Gordon “Swede” Larson and Jack McLamb have sworn affadavits back in amerika that no officer least of all Mccain was tortured. Least of all Mccain because early on in his capture he told his captors his dad was an admiral, in fact the one in charge of US forces in Vietnam. After that he got better food and medical treatment and went on to make radio broadcasts for the vietnamese praising their humanity. Maybe worse; somehow shortly after Mcains capture the vietnamese obtained details of the ‘packet routes’ the air corridors the bombers flew before separating to attack their targets. This information caused the rate of pilot and planes shot down to increase massively. Within 6 months of Mccain’s capture the bombing of Vietnam by the amerikan invaders had ceased.
Mccain gets back to find his wife who had been badly injured in an auto accident isn’t the model anymore so he traded her in on a new, younger, and richer one.

    Don’t believe me? use google.

I cant believe how ignorant people are. People are so desperate they put a man in office with 4 years of experience over someone with over 20 years. They claim to love America, yet want to change it. Nobody seems to care that BO wants to give illegals driver licenses and social security benefits. Nobody wonders where this ‘free’ health care for all is going to come from. Nobody cares that he is associated with some of the most radical and racial individuals and organizations in the country. Nobody cares that he was born in Kenya and only RAISED in Hawaii (it’s illegal for a non-native to run for presidency). Nobody cares that his aunt was living in America illegally and he somehow didn’t know that. Nobody cares that he attended a church for over 20 years that is lead by the most radical and anti-America black person in the country (“US of KKK A”, “God Damn America”). Nobody cares that BO wants to take American dollars and ‘redistribute the wealth’ to people who don’t lift a finger in society while everyone else works their ass off (socialism, look it up!). You “Americans” disgust me. I can’t wait for your destruction. You deserve it for your ignorance.

    @6

Mike, if you know anything about the past, you’d know the economy (no matter how much taxes or cutbacks) won’t have any results over night. It may even take a few years to see noticable differences.

At the debates, all I heard from Mccain was “Joe plummer this, joe plummer that.” The rest of the debate on Mccain’s behalf was just constant attacks on Obama rather than what else he can do if he were president.

Mccain’s plan was basically giving money to businesses and let the wealth trickle down to the people (never worked in the past). NEWS FLASH, his good ol pal Bush (AIG was granted money to bail themselves out… did they use their money wisely? no, many of the employees went on retreats after the money was granted) has done it, daddy bush has done it, and even regan did the same. AND IT NEVER WORKED!!! Rich get richer, and poor get poorer…

So yah, it’s time for a change. Helping out the working class will have people spending more money. But hey, I dont expect you to like the decision, the rest of us lived with your BUSH for 8 years. Thank goodness that’s over with. No more living behind an idiot leader. Heh… Joe the plummer…

Back on topic… nice release on the victory speech. THANKS.

in ten years time the black population of america will be the MAJORITY and the redneck racists time will be over-its been a long time coming but finally the right thing has been done, bush was a national and global disgrace who would never even been elected president if he hadnt stolen the vote in florida.

time for sanity and honesty in american politics. as for mccain being a war hero-yes he endured hell in a vietnamese prison but people should remember that at the time american servicemen returning from vietnam were despised and spat on in the street!

just as in iraq maybe we should consider the fact that he should never have been there in the first place!

  52. priz
    November 5th, 2008 | 09:55

I hate how everyone who is against Obama is labeled a racist. And how the media talked so much about people not voting for Obama because he’s black, when in reality that’s where the majority of his votes came. Yes this race was based on race and that’s a very large part of how Obama won. He got about 96 percent of the black vote because of his plans for the economy? Because of how he plans to handle the war in Iraq? Because of his stance on foreign relations? NO, but because he is black. So yes this election was based on racism, I would also be willing to bet that at least 30 percent of those voters did not vote in the last election. Not to mention about 70 percent of his votes were from voters between the ages of 18-29. These are the college students (as am I) who grew up with Bush. The word change is the only thing that they are basing their vote on, that and because he is younger than Senator Mccaine. The majority of my friends voting for Obama new little of his policies and stances on important political issues, what they do know however is that he’s a democrat, and because Mccaine is republican he is exactly like Bush, or at least that’s what they’ve come to believe. It’s sad but its true. And yes he won fair and square, I’m not saying he didn’t, but I do believe if this was a blind ballot and voters voted on the number of beliefs, policies, and stances on important issues rather than just their names, that it would be a completely different outcome. Although it will never happen America would be a much better place if this is how we voted.

#60 Let’s for a moment say it’s true many black people voted for him because he’s black.

Has it occurred to you, you know, in that microscopic speck of a brain of yours, that maybe, just maybe, THEY DID SO BECAUSE THEY WERE FED UP WITH ALL THE PREVIOUS WHITE CANDIDATES?! God some people can’t see the wood for the trees.

Besides he won by a bigger margin than Bush and didn’t need to rig the election either, unlike the previous crooks.

This President comes with the O.J. Simpson defense. By the time non-racists become comfortable with being called racists, and develop a response for the confusion created by their first time of being unjustly labeling as such, more of the peoples civil liberties will have been strategically stolen. Excellent move on the part of those in power and with most of the world’s wealth. Did the USA really need another millionaire-lawyer president to represent the poor and shrinking middle class?

You got to laugh at “My gun is a 437 Magnum. And my religion is Catholic. I pray for Jesus Christ. Not Allah.”

You must be a redneck. Firstly Jesus did not go round condoning violence or guns. Come to think of it gun toting bible nuts are a complete hypocracy. Jesus did not go round carrying a sword or other weapon. Where these redneck gun nuts get this idea about mixing guns and religion I’ll never know. Secondly Obama is not a muslim. All you’ve heard are snippets from youtube and other chicken littles like you clucking a misquote and slurring from the repugs. Thirdly Allah, aside from the fact it has nothing to do with the election, is just the islamic word for God. Islam recognises Jesus as a prophet and son of God, but not that Jesus IS God.

You know what screw it. You’re the kind of redneck I wish would just stop breeding and die out. You’re totally ignorant, you’ve no real understanding of Christianity or any other religion, you cling to your guns and you’re so totally and utterly controlled by fear you don’t even realise it. You probably believe hiding under a desk will save you from a nuclear explosion. Dumbass.

No, the media was not in the tank for Obama… Fox News, for one, was clearly not in the tank. All the media talked endlessly for two weeks about how McCain could still pull this out. They were all suspect of this rather new candidate’s untested credentials. If you think that Ayers and all the Chicago connections were unchecked, then you’re simply wrong. The primaries would have brought all this out and the media would have done anything to get their hands on any big story about this… HAD THERE BEEN ONE.

We all know it is not because he is the best of the best, or even he is the lesser evil – people voted for two reasons : first is voting against republicans, thanks to G. W. Bush, second is media. Not onlu in USA but all around the world, media were full of pro Obama articles, those reffering to Mccain/Palin was either very short or making laugh at them. Oh, and another factor that made obama win is a rasism – there were people all over TV and radio, that claimed to vote Obama because he is black. Imagine a white voting for white because he is white and saying this aloud? Duuuuude, that would be a huge bodycount, but saying I vote for black cause I’m a black is ok.

So thank You America for voting leftist Obama. From my point of view in Europe it will be better for rest of the world because this choice may affect your economy bad, so USD price will be cheaper and You will suffer and make sure to vote for proper people (like Ron Paul). The only bad thing is that Russia is laughing. It surely will be the time of Russia and China. EU is weak because is leftist already, now USA have what they deserve… Yeah, time to learn some russian and chinese language.

who cares! world will be a much better place without US arogancy, constant state of war, bombing any country for no reason, and worthless piece of paper known as US dollar. America is the most dangerous threat to humankind, so go to hell all of you, together with your president, whoever he is, it doesn’t matter anyway!

Saying the media determined this is stupid and simply a cowardly laughable cop-out. What determined this election is the FACT that you had a solid team going against a clown team. You had a campaign focused on the country’s issues versus a campaign that was obsessed with trying to belittle the competition that was easily out-classing them. You don’t have to deal with it, but come back in four years and try again. Thanks.

Proof that socialism works is the UK’s NHS which kicks the arse of the american system. The only reason you yanks bleat on about communism and socialism is because you’ve got all the vested interests like Glaxxo Smith Kline not wanting anything nationalised as they can scam and make more money while under a private system. Obama IS NOT BLACK, his mother is white and as such he is a mixed race. Only a fool or a very ignorant person would call him “black” or “african american”

Old Commie Pinko, is your mind gone? The best you can do in attacking McCain is claiming the same crap that has been so discredited and proven false that the person making it has slunk back under the rock they came from? So unless you can document your statements with valid proof and not the statement “just use google” then you are a liar. And guess what pinkey..the US Department of War and the US Department of the Navy BOTH say that your statement is a total fabrication as IT NEVER HAPPENED. And DONT try the crap about some Admiral having the godlike power to change ALL copies of military records as that does not and cannot happen. The military makes redundant copies of the same paperwork and places them in different spots all over the US and then places them inside MILPERCEN where the only people allowed to touch them are the workers under full view of armed guards. So your statement is total BS, just like you are

tell you what cameron, come to the US and walk into a Vet’s club and say that so they can hear you instead of hiding behind your keyboard. I guarentee you that you wont have to worry about anything ever again as you will be turned into puree by very angry vets faster then you can spit.

Takes a real brave moron like you to hide behind a keyboard on an American invention (we invented the internet and this can be proven and documented) and then spit in the face of American vets. So show some balls and come to American and say this to a Vet’s face. Just remember to say where your family is so we can send sympathy cards and flowers to your funeral.

im not a communist or anything like that…I may have some centre left inclinations, but thats it. Im from Argentina, and i’ve been following this election pretty close (imagine that theres a 5 hours difference from Phoenix to Buenos Aires, so i stayed up till 2 o`clock yesterday). Anyway…anybody who says that the republicans and democrats all have the same policies, is, in my humble, foreing opinion, mistaken.
Do you honestly tell me that Bill’s goverment was the same as Georgie’s??? cmon ppl.
One other thing…i thit it was comment number 30 that said: “Socialist and Comunist proven that free-trade is the only real way to go” or something like that. Buddy, first of all, the fact that communism didnt exactly work doesnt prove crap. if you dig a little back, democracy didnt work at first either. Hell, were not nearly there. Take a look at you electoral system. SUCKS! you have half plus one of the popular votes in california and you get the whole 53 electoral votes for the state?? Dong get me wrong, i was hoping for Obama to get eleted, but sounds more like a conglomarate of states than an actual country. but thats not the point. The point is that it takes many many tries before something as huge as a socio-political structure is perfected. If B.O wants to take some ideas from socialist governments, great!
Dont be afraid of new policies just because ppl lable them SOCIALISM or COMUNISM! CMON! dont be silly! USA will never BE a commie nation. But you ARE practicall ppl, and im shure you understand that adapting you policies to counter the currect issues you are facing is the way to go. the guy that said “if you love america, why do you want to change it?” is a wuss. you dont like change buddy?? go BACK TO ENGLAND and start kissing royal butt. YOU ARE A NATION BORN FROM CHANGE, and is with change that you’ll survive.
and for all u republican aholes, if u dislike change so much, why do you keep triying to force it upon the rest of the world?? make up your mind.
EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU ACTIONS DIRECTY AFFECT THE REST OF THE WORLD. this is serious! you guys faced an economic crisis and the next week the company i was working for had to let 25 ppl go on my department because of that crisis. i’ll find something else, but some of the ppl there had kids, and a family to suport, and they depended on those jobs to do so.
bottom line: embrace you new face on the oval office, and hope he can bring the changes we all desperatly need.
PS (hope obama isnt really Syler in disguise or something)
Pardon me for the uber long post folks. but i needed to get this off my chest.

Big business directly benefits from the private health system which will be impossible to abolish.

@62 I never said anything about them rigging the election and yes I have thought that black people were sick of white presidents, that’s why I said race was involved, being most only voted for him because he’s black? Which in tern is racist. So basically you just reaffirmed by point and I thank you for that. Although whining and complaining that all the white presidents before him rigged the election just makes you sound like even more of an idiot. So if you’d like to say exactly what I said again feel free, just add that bit to it. Thanks.

I love the republican fanboys harping about how it’s the end of the US and all doom and gloom and depression is coming.

    Excuse me?

Exactly which rock have you been living under for the PAST 8 YEARS?! The economy has been wrecked, global good will squandered, more and more civil liberties lost, unprecedented almost dictatorial powers assumed by the (former) president, not one but two botched wars – one of which at least had no real merit at all (unless you work for big business and oil) Good grief, stop hiding behind stupid blind loyalty and have a good long look:

Over 10 (TEN) trillion (TRILLION) dollars in debt. In fact the figure is so large the national debt clock has run out of digits! I don’t care how you dress it up and cover your hears and eyes and shout la la la. The fact is that’s one fudged up result. But it’s easier to just forget the record and just hide behind dislike isn’t it?

i love how everyone that says “obama is good for america’ can never say why…outside of ‘it’s change’. the only change people are seeing is the fact that he is black. nobody can justify how 4 years of government experience is better than 20+ that McCain had. nobody can point out a single beneficial thing that obama did during his short term in the governmental system. i can’t wait to see america tear itself apart even further. america deserves a wake-up call to realize how arrogant the citizens are. the day my country starts voting because a bigshot like oprah says the decision is good, i will start to fear for my security as well. obama will cause many wars…him and his ‘talks’.

Just hope your country is not invaded or attacked, as Americans no longer care about freeing or protecting others from tyranny, despots and invasions. Bottom line: the republicans had their chance. Over the last 8 years they drove the country into the ground. Wrecked it. As usual though, republican haters won’t put their hands up and admit it. Say it with me kids: “you’re right. We had our chance. We fracked up.” Republicans never take responsibility for anything, especially when they screw it up.

The country didn’t get ruined when Obama won. It was a wreck from 8 years of republican abuse. You had your chance, you wrecked the country, then you got kicked out. Get over it.
