    My links are always clean.

    @ naeco

There is no key needed to be entered. Do it like this:

Install the program as trial version. After you install it, run it and then click on Options – Enter license – Open license file and browse for file named: “zwt.bof” provided in release. Thats all.

Can anyone find a changelog for this version? I already have r12 and am not sure if it is worth the hassle with upgrading.

Thanks for the post! I really recommend this.

Pretty useful piece of software, comes in handy everyday.
This version seems to use a key though, Babylon 6 I used a few years ago kept blacklisting keys during updates after some time unless you stopped it from accessing the net. So I wonder if this one is gonna stick.
I have a cracked 7.0.0 right now and it updates fine (content updates like exchange rates, not software), but it doesn’t work too well in Firefox 3 which is very annoying.
Anyone else having problems with FF3 beta/RC and newer versions?

    PS
    Someone asked about other languages…
You can get them for free straight from the program or download a different version from the official website.

    May 19th, 2008 | 20:16

lets hope this one still works after a couple of weeks…many previous version were not properly cracked or did not include all content…especially the ones which came with serial only stopped working after a while…

will this one allow net access? I have one now and its the only warez version I ever found that allows for web access, like wikipedia. All the others have to be completely blocked from the web to keep on working.

Thanks Christian for the quick reply!

The 5prem dictionaries don’t work offline as the NFO indicated though. I’ve download the separate dictionary installation files, but i’m not sure if they are of the same version as this one. Does it matter if the version number does not match?

It assumes that you want to change your home page. It never would take the password. Just go with Firefox and get their spelling add-on.

  41. Babylon offline
    May 21st, 2008 | 20:01

I have been using Babylon since v4. I’ve always blocked Babylon from accessing the internet (using Zonealarm or any other personal firewall that allows blocking outgoing traffic – the WinXP firewall only blocks incoming traffic). Otherwise Babylon will check with the mothership and stop working promptly.

I have downloaded the necessary dictionaries from the Babylon website (look for ‘glossaries’) and installed them locally. This works quite nicely. Though the currency converter doesn’t work this way (no new rate conversion data available without outgoing web access).

I don’t know if maybe the online glossaries are somehow more complete than the offline glossaries? I have downloaded and locally installed the Concise Encyclopedia Britannica, English-English, French-English and English-French, Spanish-English and vice versa, German-English and vice versa, Latin-English and English-Latin (two kinds, both relatively small), and ‘Acronyms and Abbreviations’ (a couple of them, ‘Acronyms from A – Z’ itself being the most extensive one). And a few more specialized ones, e.g. the ‘Mineralogy Database’ and a minerals glossary, Main Alphabets, Internet Domains, and Computer file types.

The glossaries that I downloaded for Babylon version 4 do still work with Babylon version 6 (that I am using now).

I assume that it is always necessary to block Babylon from calling home, otherwise it will stop working sooner or later.

I couldn’t install other good dictionaries other than the five provided (Langenscheidt, Harrap etc.). Patched version of 6 lets me use all of them. Does anyone have a patch which enables all dictionaries?

I confirm that Babylon pro doesn’t work as used to do with firefox 3 final. Sometimes it doesn’t even recognize the text in the browser window.
    Very annoying indeed.

  46. cvx
    June 23rd, 2008 | 15:50

A workaround to the problem of babylon incompatibility with firefox 3 is to first double click the word to select it. Now CTRL-right-click on the selected word, but make sure you do this on the **LEFT PORTION** of the selected word. Then babylon will recognize it. If you CTRL-right-click on the right hand portion of the selected word, chances are it won’t work.

This is an added inconvenience sure, but at least you can avoid having to manually enter the word into babylon.

@cvx : Great solution. Had the same problem with Babylon 6 & FF3, and your technique works fine. You, sir, just saved me hours of work.

  48. Xri
    June 28th, 2008 | 17:19

Thank you cvx, the workaround works fine (from the left side, you’re rigt).
Well surely isn’t cozy like by default, but at least you don’t have to type the word as you stated above.
I wonder if this incompatibility will be mentioned in Babylon home.

I was going to reinstall FF 2 because of babylon! I use a lot this sw for work and surfing. THANK YOU!
