I can't understand the hype surrounding this film. If this film was meant to be fantasy - sure, but a serious drama, please! The acting was fine, its just the vast majority of the story was so implausible, bordering on the ridiculous. Amores perros and 21 grams were to me, superior films, where both storyline and direction were very well done. I just felt that there was so much fat that could have been trimmed from this film. It seemed that Alejandro was trying too hard to be clever for his own good, ruining what could have been a great film by adding too many plots and subplots and a half dozen different stories. By the end of the 2.5 hours I really couldn't give a shit as to what was going to happen to any of the characters. A wasted opportunity. Save your time and check out his earlier films or better still re-watch Crash to see how a film with a multitude of interlocking plots can be executed exceptionally well to film, to not only showcase great direction, but more importantly tell a fantastic story. cheers mb This film was rubbish.
