Babel DVDRip XviD-DiAMONDA
Guys from release group DiAMOND did it again: dvdrip of amazing movie Babel two weeks before the official DVD release date. This two CD release had some problems though, because of small typo in the release name. Someone from the group probably added letter “A” at the end of the group name, so it appeared as Babel.DVDRip.XviD-DiAMONDA at all sites. There should be a dirfix soon which will fix this small issue. Anyway, the movie is still excellent and the image quality as well…
Richard and Susan (Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett) are a couple from San Diego, California who are vacationing in Morocco while their two children are at home with their Mexican housekeeper, Amelia (Adriana Barraza). A rifle finds its way into the hands of a local herdsman’s young sons (Said Tarchani and Boubker Ait El Caid), who recklessly take a shot at a tour bus and hit Susan in the shoulder, causing her severe injury. The distraught Richard calls home to tell Amelia of the situation, who shortly departs for Mexico to attend her son’s wedding, with Richard and Susan’s children in tow.
Disaster thus multiplies, with the situation in Morocco ascribed to terrorists in the media, while Amelia meets with trouble at the Mexican border when she attempts to return to San Diego with Richard and Susan’s children. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a widower (Koji Yakusho) tied to the rifle in question, a complex shift of ownership to which the audience is privy, attempts to deal with the memories of his recently deceased wife and his strained relationship with his deaf teenage daughter (Rinko Kikuchi).

This movie is simple but “amazing”. Like Alejandro’s previous movies this movie is all about how one event can change the lives of other people that are all scattered across the globe. At first you’ll be thinking: “Suuuuure….” But after watching this movie you’ll be amazed. It’s not like this movie has some major plot twist at the end of the movie or anything, but it’s almost like watching CSI. You know that eventually the puzzle will be complete, but the it’s the chain of events that lead to the end that are surprising. But there will be some twists here and there and they’re OK. Brad Pitt surprisingly choose art over money collecting pieces of shit. The latter is what he’s been doing for the last couple of years. Mr and Ms Smith? Please…
The entire cast, including the foreign one’s, are very good which is obviously because of some good directing. The only thing that bugged me in the beginning was that some scenes were not played in a chronological order, which was confusing because there was nothing indicating the shift in time. That, and another minor downside, which is that some of the plot twists are actually quite predictable. Other the that this movie is amazing and I recommend everyone to check it out! I give it a 9/10. Did I mention “amazing”? Amazing…

@fy I totally agree with you, Pitt has several other movies which were never meant to be blockbusters and have creative plots.
I like how it says “Review” in the post but it’s written in a style that resembles nothing of the real standard… oh well… not like people will actually refer to it. “Amazing” try though

after watching this, I really enjoyed the japanese girl and her fathers storyline alot more then then brad and cate. I wish the movie would have went more into why the japanese mother died, etc
You guys are refferig to Fight Club, that movie is from what… 1999? When I say “a couple of years” I’m not talking about 8 years ago. That’s way more then “a couple” of years. I was mainly talking about Troy and Mr and Ms Smith. If you look at his iMDB pae you’ll see that those count for “a couple of years”.

kevin i’m sorry, i didn’t see couple. i’ll give you smith, but that petersen made troy purely for profit is arguable and ocean’s twelve was an inevitable followup to soderbergh’s original remake, a very good film tho it admittedly was celeb-studded. besides, you don’t see pitt recently aside from a couple films and some cameos (full frontal, clooney’s confessions). it’s not like he’s accepting roles left and right to get richer. in fact except smith and basing from parts i’ve seen him do, characters he’s portrayed are anything but cardboard and one-dimensional.
This is an amazing good movie, I’m even surprised Pitt plays in it, it’s a movie US citizens should watch to learn at least there is more than just USA … but an entire world, with people like you and me, and at the end we have all the same goals in life … we just don’t realize it until we travel, not to Disney Land, but a real distant country, without escort of a travel agency, but by backpack and buying tickets for buses yourself, learning a bit the language while you there, enough to buy things in a market, this is how to discover humankind . . . by meeting people truly . . .
I wish more japanese movies or north african movies with alike storylines as in this one would be released . . I used to go to the cinema just to watch these kind of movies, but they have been rare . .

-DiAMONDA had bad crop (1pixel – left side), no english subs for foreign parts and it was encoded from a dvd5 made with clonedvd that is floating around on torrent sites, check out PQ on motion scenes… it sucks. Anyways, enjoy our rip.

This film was rubbish. I can’t understand the hype surrounding this film. If this film was meant to be fantasy – sure, but a serious drama, please! The acting was fine, its just the vast majority of the story was so implausible, bordering on the ridiculous. Amores perros and 21 grams were to me, superior films, where both storyline and direction were very well done. I just felt that there was so much fat that could have been trimmed from this film. It seemed that Alejandro was trying too hard to be clever for his own good, ruining what could have been a great film by adding too many plots and subplots and a half dozen different stories. By the end of the 2.5 hours I really couldn’t give a shit as to what was going to happen to any of the characters. A wasted opportunity. Save your time and check out his earlier films or better still re-watch Crash to see how a film with a multitude of interlocking plots can be executed exceptionally well to film, to not only showcase great direction, but more importantly tell a fantastic story.
