EMBRACE group has released newest AVG Internet Security version 8. Internet Security contains all what you need to protect yourself against viruses, trojans, malware and so on. Personally i don’t like AVG products that much, because they go mad when it comes to scene keygens and releases overall. Hint: too much false positives… But that’s my opinion…

    #2 personally i switch between kaspersky and bitdefender.. avg is low graded on the charts. google ‘top antivirus’ you’ll see what i mean. then again i don’t know how strong this new release is but this is just personal opinion. i don’t see it jumping 5 notches out of the blue yknow..

    I use AVG free, decent antivirus but most of patch and keygen are false positive. Some time ago I used the internet securiy but it suck, games and programm access to net without warning, browse some web site and you’ll get a virus on %internet temp dir% (only then AVG detect and remove it). My choose goes to Comodo firewall, free, a lot of options, and a warning for screen access/keyboard logger/net access/dll hook, etc.

    If u don’t want to use a keygen,patch again than install avg.Really this product is a enemy of warez.It’s not poor technology,avg overall detection improved with version 8, they really want to drive people away from warez.Fake worm,trojan flagging of clean exe,is what they do.Kaspersky,or nod have same or better detection and very few false positives.

    imo just use Giant anti-spyware (has an internet agent,system agent and an application agent, to keep you safe around the clock =) and trojan remover to remove anything else that WOULD come through.

    I used to like AVG enough to pay for it, but with version 8 it is so bloated that it bogs down my box so much that it’s no longer useful. It also doesn’t play well with Vista – every update breaks something new. The last update locked the firewall on and blocked all packets in both directions, so no more AVG for me. Avast seems to be ok now. Hopefully they’ll leave the damn thing alone and not try to add every gui bell and whistle just because they can (like AVG).

    AVG is the poopiest anti-malware program out there. I would not waste your time with it.

    If you want awesome internet security for free, use Comodo Firewall Pro w/Defense Plus (free), Firefox w/adblock plus and noscript, and if you STILL get infected (you shouldn’t) add pctools Threatfire and pctools Anti-virus, both free and better than AVG’s garbage.

    Clamwin…. if you know what your doing and want the absolute best performance. No on-demand crap and internet obscurity is a joke..just for newbies to feel safe I guess even though there computer operates 10-50% slower. With Clamwin Just schedule a daily or weekly scan. For 5 years I never got a virus warning with AVG and the new AVG is bloatware. So screw it… no more regular anti-virus for me. A weekly scan is enuff. You can always run a on-line housecall free scan and removal too.

    I don’t get this post. AVG is free, folks, and the free version is basically the same as the pay one, and support for it is provided at the AVG forums. What the paid version adds, other than direct support, is mostly picked up by a good firewall, such as the free Comodo, which also puts out a free rootkit finder (BOC), the other thing that AVG paid provides.

    I can’t recall any false positives with AVG in the past two or three years. There was an error in the update this week (causes missing .bin notice), but the AVG Forum provides instructions on how to fix it quickly.

    Although I’ve used AVG for – literally – years, I’ve just uninstalled v8 & am road-testing the free version of Antivir. Mainly for the false positives AVG 8 is generating over my cracks, keygens, & (most annoyingly) my backup of the Event ID 4226 Patcher(!).

    The current system scan Antivir is performing has found (so far – 75%) 16 detections that slipped through AVG’s net, though I’ll have to verify them manually post-scan.

    I’ll even consider buying the ‘Premium’ version if it performs well over the next week or so. It’s only £12 right now – & if av-comparatives are to be believed, THE SINGLE BEST AV (for Windows) YOU CAN GET(tm)…
