PLOT: When his brother is killed in battle, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge’s intentions of driving off the native humanoid “Na’vi” in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na’vi people with the use of an “avatar” identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand – and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

Rating Video? Audio Quality? Is it in sync? Its 2 gbs. Before I download. I’d like some input on quality other than “download the sample” and decide for yourself. Thanking you in advance for any assistance.

ive been waiting for this. saw it in cinema in 3d. downloaded the 720p TS which in terms of pixelation was clearer then this. im only judging by sample. but it looks really “blocky”. i’ll probably wait fo the next groups rip to see if the quality better. though im a huge fan of imagines work.

    @38 #Nemesis

Depending on their hosts,i always try posting more links for not only premium users but also free users. You can take 1 file from Netload then 1 file from Storage, and so on … . i also think Megaupload links is the best for free users but as you know, its servers is too slow to upload links. That the reason why MU links are not often posted anh theirs are after other links.

Agreed with elc though video quality looks like a DVDRip (if you’ve seen this in the cinemas, that’s where you’ll be comparing the difference.

File says 23fps but encode looks like it’s 20fps. Probably watchable but not enjoyable.

I thought DVD Screeners were usually for award considerations.
If this movie is gonna win any awards its not for the plot and not even for normal visual effects.

If I was the studio I would just send anyone that needs to see this movie a free pass to see it at a proper theater. Hell its made like 1.8 billion dollars. Give them a plane ticket and a hotel room for the weekend and give a private viewing.

  69. Robbie Khan
    February 4th, 2010 | 08:04

    Quality is average at best.

    A: 8/10
    V: 6/10
It’s way too choppy as if the person who encoded it did a bad job or had a slow as hell PC and pixellated full screen.

The minimum I’d deem suitable for this kind of film is at the very least 480p and only in a x264 based codec or a high bitrate DivX encode.

this is quite clearly a High Definition TS. You can tell because the video is slightly chopping the same way that some HD cameras are, and you can plainly see from the sample the light adjustment processing is slightly delayed. For instance it adjusts shortly after a light shot to dark shot transition.

Look… I’m not trying to take away from the fact that the movie looks good… except during fade in/outs when it is pixelated as all hell…. or when the random jerkiness stuttering is happening… which by the way is like every 30 seconds… whatever imagine did to the source when they were re-encoding it, per the .nfo, boosting contrast, color, etc…. they f’d it up good… this needs a proper… BIGTIME… if you haven’t seen this movie yet… I would advise you not to watch this version… the jerky stutteriness is what is going to ruin it… I can live with the fade in/out pixelation but man… that jerkiness is unbelievable….

IMAGINE did a horrible job with this DVDSCR.

The video is “choppy”, the color is “dull” and the audio is horrible as well.

As far as I’m concerned I’m watching the most over rated movie of the year in my room on a 32″ widescreen tv for free. That’s hardly a lose situation at all. Even if it sucks, I don’t care, because I win.

The film is AMAZING to see in 3D but you’re just some douche trying to bash it and go against the grain because it’s hugely popular.

You’re whore mother used to be popular too but nobody is bashing her and her saggy twat lips!

    A Man Called Horse – http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0066049/
    Dances With Wolves – http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0099348/

Not that this is a bad thing, it’s just the reason SOME people are “dissin” the movie and I understand why.

The only ‘Big Cartoon’ that’s any good, is the ‘Big Cartoon’ in one’s mind. Unfortunatley, Goverments are wise too this, and have banned & demonized Marijuana & LSD. The very psychedelics used by ancient tribes too see things like this 1,000′s of years ago!!!

I haven’t watched more than the first five minutes to check quality so far, but this is for sure a DVD screener, as there are “property of” messages. Also while watching on my PS3 there is a jerk to the video. It will play along smooth and normal for a second then it gets choppy. Still watchable though. I also noticed the brightness changing back and forth throughout a stationary shot. If you can deal with those issues then you should enjoy this copy.

Very wary of hyped up mania, films like this are never as good as you are made to believe. Many people are just sheep following the herd, going to see it because “everybody else” has, That does not make it a brilliant film. Was waiting to see for myself, to make my own mind up, but I will be waiting a little longer due to quality issues. As previously posted there are dropped frames throughout the part I looked at, and heavy pixelation. This is a poor release.
I could tell from the clips that a film based on the smurfs was not going to make me part with money to go and see.

Any film no matter how crap / good deserves a good rip. This is not a good rip. Too many dropped frames.

    p.s whats going on?

Agree with some of your sense and damn I wouldn’t mind running away on a trip or just vegging on skunk…

And sure the storyline has been written many times over…

Still must give props to Cameron for smart use of his Hollywood soapbox to spread strong global message of Anti War/Government + Pro Mother Earth and combine it with stunning film technology resulting in hugely entertaining movie easily accessible to all and whose underlying messages will not be lost on younger generations that haven’t seen movies such as those you mentioned…

…and which might just subliminally tap into the less intellectual of our species who are not in tune with present ethics and future trends we face.

Remember that movie Waterworld? …that needs retelling too!

Oh BTW: Qualitywise – this is one of those movies that has to be seen big screen…. or at least wait for 1080p

“Oh BTW: Qualitywise – this is one of those movies that has to be seen big screen…. or at least wait for 1080p”

How is that any good on a 720p display, or 1080i for that matter.

Not to mention there are plenty of people who cannot even view 720p.

SD on a large SD display would be more enjoyable than 1080p on a small PC screen (for those without the tellies)

Remember whilst spouting ethics that we don’t all have access to 1080p displays, or HD cinemas.

Watching this in anything other than 3d is pointless and defeats the objective.
If you’re gonna settle for this quality, you might as well just read the synopsis.

I’ve seen this 3 times in different cinemas.

The best 3d technology was at the Phoneix in Leicester, travelled over an hour to get there.
They use XpanD 3D which gives a crystal clear picture.

The imax 3D in Birmingham (UK) was slightly more immersive but allot more blurred and gave me eye strain and a headache half way through.

The 3rd used the most common 3d technology (the traditional cheap 2 colour lens paper/plastic glasses) and is apparently similar in quality to the Dolby 3D screens.
This was the worst of the 3, too much ghosting and near objects were blurred…

That’s not a solid defense for this overrated movie. The movie is entertaining, but only because it’s a technological spectacle that spent half a billion dollars on CGI.

The Silence of the Lambs is also entertaining, mentally stimulating, and a masterpiece. Now, IMAGINE BOTH MOVIES AS DRAWN UP WITH STICK FIGURES in black & white with no soundtrack, no crazy sound effects, no 3D gimmicks, and just line readings from the actors.

The Silence of the Lambs would still be an awesome movie. And Avatar would look like the overrated Pochahontas/Dances With Wolves/Ferngully crap that it is… It wouldn’t even make $2M let alone $2B.

  156. Jake
    February 4th, 2010 | 11:33

Well, gee, give me $500,000,000.00 and I’m sure I can cook up something entertaining too. Just because something can hold your attention for 120 minutes+ doesn’t mean that it holds up to critical review as a film or piece of art. By your definition Transformers 2 is also a sci-fi ACTION movie that’s also “entertaining.” And “The Matrix” is also a sci-fi ACTION movie that’s also “entertaining.” So they are all equally as good? Clearly, anyone with a brain will tell you The Matrix is in another league, if you analyse them in depth for their parts.

Avatar succeeds because it is pure spectacle. But the plot is a rip-off of at least 3 well-known movies, the characters are one-dimensional (any random beefy dude could have played Jake Sully), some of the line deliveries were cheesy, and some of the dialogue was truly awful (proving again that Cameron shouldn’t write scripts, only direct.)

But hey, if you spend the GDP of a small island nation and end up with something “entertaining,” then you’ve succeeded… in some people’s eyes.

  157. Q BAWLAHH

Well actually it was a ripoff from a 1980′s marvel comic but even that said transformers was entertaining… cmon guys… MEGAN FOX. enough said.

Dude what the heck happened to the bitrate ad aspect ratio?! You wasted your time, original uploader and provider of this movie! You should have slowed down, made a FULL DVDR copy of it and uploaded it then, or at least used a good program to correctly convert it to Divx avi or whatever! Thanks for trying, but no thanks for failing.

all those who are saying it should be seen ONLY in a 3d environment are missing the point.. it should be a good film first no?
shiny blue people and glitzy visuals are just a fad.. as soon as a few films are 3d it will be like “3D whatever” how many times can an arrow flying towards you or a reaching hand make you jump? this medium does not benefit the plot or story or tension in any way.. it is a hollywood tool to get you back in cinemas (a short lived one) no more no less… you have been washed! go for it..

Stop arguing about the film. If you didn’t like, don’t download.

There, there *pat, pat*. Was it that hard?

Quality is nice picture-wise, but jumpy. Guess it was released in a hurry, which was a shame. Hopefully someone can clean it up :D

(To the guy who said it’s an HD TS: I wouldn’t know, but I hope not. Dashes my hopes of decent quality if it is.)

well, had more time to check this out now, and I have to say that the people here that said the video on this was ok were DEAD WRONG! I don’t have the technical understanding of it, but something comes out as very choppy on the video every few minutes…it’s as it it’s suddenly going in slow motion. The audio is very good, but I don’t think this is the copy people were waiting for. If you didn’t start downloading it yet, I would hold off for the proper.

  169. Dave
    February 4th, 2010 | 12:27

24 frames? Was this taken from a Blu-ray?
The sample is so choppy I’m getting seasick. And it’s not my computer. My computer can handle the dinky 656×368 resolution.
For a normal DVD or XviD, there must be a better copy. I’m sure there will be many more versions….this week. :D
This one? As a first decent copy… Why not, if you must.

I’m sure the movie is so successful cause it’s a 2h thrilling 3D ride. And you don’t have to travel to Disney Land. For sure it’s not the dialogs. :D

BTW, if you haven’t seen this movie in 3D on a big screen,……..then you didn’t. Who cares? :D

I will wait for a better copy.

If you’re on about i’s and p’s and your obviously intellectually astute then unless your a complete facist you know I’m right.

Yeah ok its a rehashed plot and probably anyone can do the same with all that dosh but it is simply entertaining and the 3D was amazing and the messages within are important enough and should reach the masses!
Matrix is similar in those respects but asked you to think alot more.
So kudos to those in Hollywood that manage to release movies whilst also sending out important messages cos Hollywood is all business rather than art = too many western ideals to satisfy and variables to meet to be able to approach cinema for arts sake as a medium of expression to open up new ways of thinking and feeling without glossiness and visual diatribe.

Actually, no. You’re missing the point… We all knew for months before that Avatar was going to be a piece of sh1t storywise, and it was only the promise of the fx spectacle that got us to the cinema, so i would say that this movie on DVD/BD will suffer for its lack of 3D.

“Watching this in anything other than 3d is pointless”

Someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about. This movie isn’t even going to be released in 3D on it’s DVD and Blu-ray release, and I saw it twice in a theater in 2D and loved every second of it. It may be about spectacle, but it doesn’t have to be about money-grubbing gimmicky spectacle like 3D. Sounds like you’re a sucker to me.

Okay so here is some info on quality…

    Pocahontas…. horrible quality, chopping playback.
Imagine… possibly the worst encode they have ever done. If you want a seizure be sure to get imagines version.
Mention… lacks color but has smooth playback. One glitch at 0m59.42s.to.0m59.50s.
Prism… great color but the playback is horribly choppy like imagines.
Noir… Noirs is better quality video with brighter colors than mentions. It still has the glitch at 59.42 seconds just like Mentions, but it doesn’t seem to be near as bad.
Vision DING DING DING DING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have a winner folks. Hands down the best so far. Biggest resolution, ac3 audio, bright vivid colors. Does have the glitch at 59.42 as well.

So at this time VISION has the best copy IMHO.

Stay far far away from the Pocahontas, Imagine, Prism versions for sure. Horrible dupe frames and choppy playback on all except for Mentions and Noirs and VISIONS.

    @burnicus

Sorry no, after downloading and reviewing 6 versions and finding VISIONS (which is 99% perfect), I have not bothered with the flawless release. The only way it could be better is if they have somehow gotten rid of the glitch at 59.42. If that is the case please someone let us know and I’ll get it, but I don’t think they did as all versions have this glitch and I’m betting the farm that Flawless does as well. Flawless and Vision both do excellent encodes though and I also bet that it’s probably almost identical to Visions.

VISION version is the best, even with the two video glitches (one early on, one an hour in.) The video has a high bit rate and it shows… and sound is good. FLAWL3SS version has scenes where it goes from dark to light visibly… so brightness issue. Also the FLAWL3SS version has more noticable pixellation, artefacts, and general compression issues.

For the 2CD version, go with MENTION or NOIR.

But, for the record, almost EVERY SINGLE version out there, including the DVDSCR source has issues of some kind.

Okay, I ran VISION vs FLAWL3SS side by side and for sure VISION is the best by far. FLAWL3SS version almost looks like a HQ CAM/TS and not a DVDSCR… the picture is muddy and pixellated and has light/dark issues. Don’t go by “sample.avi”s … or listen to scene group fanboys. Download them both and let your eyes decide.

The VISION copy looks ALMOST PERFECT for a DVDSCR. They used a really nice filter on it, and the colour reproduction is great. The bit-rate is stable and even when you pause the stills look nice. There are two small video glitches (at the beginning of the movie, and about one hour in for a few seconds) but neither happen during anything important.

I’m running the VISION copy on my 65″ TV sitting from about 10 feet away and it’s pretty much AMAZING. I think this is as good as it gets until the R5/DVD/Blu-Ray folks.

Well, just for information, I’ve downloaded and flicked through every release so far. Mention’s release was ok, although a bit washed out. Some people say the Flawless version is the best, however having compared, I think the colours are way too over saturated and it has light and dark issues.

Best by a mile, is version’s release, which is very watchable having burned to DVD and watched on a 42″ TV I can highly recommend it as being the best one released so far. Smooth video, good colours. The best of the bunch. Hope this helps :)

flawless does best job all the time, they know what they are doing. Noir and Vision are also good release groups but I think its best to go with Flawless’s video if you want to watch this. The sharpening he did makes the video look more high-def.

    February 5th, 2010 | 19:57

    @416

lol @ blind loyal fanboy. yeah, if you call the same video glitches, pixellation and compression artefacts, fake over-saturated colours, and video going from light to dark and dark to light randomly (example 00:25:55, and many many more) the best job… Then why, yes… FLAWL3SS did the best job.

But if you’re objective then VISION FTW.

    PLEASE READ:

I played both the FLAWL3SS release and the IMAGINE release together at the same time and I found some interesting conclusions that may concern your choice of which to download.

The IMAGINE release is about 23 seconds longer (for some odd reason) and is NOT showing the picture smoothly. It is frequently jumpy and does NOT play as good as the FLAWL3SS release. The FLAWL3SS release may have duller colors compared to the IMAGINE release, but at least it plays smoothly throughout the whole picture.

PLUS, the IMAGINE release over-saturates the white levels EVERY TIME there’s low lighting, lots of dark colors or a night scene. So the best bet is to avoid this release all together and get the FLAWL3SS release!!

  261. objective man
    February 5th, 2010 | 20:39

The VISION release is far better than the FLAWL3SS release if only for the fact that it is not plagued by those light/dark issues. The color saturation is entirely up to your own opinion whether you prefer it or not. The FACT remains that vision is the clearest with the least issues. Hell, if flawless didn’t have the light/dark issues I’d prefer it for the vibrant colors… but it does have those issues. Too bad.

Well… I downloaded the FLAWL3SS release, and the only bad thing about it is that it randomly has issues with light and dark, it flickers from light to dark even if there is no change in lighting in the scene. I would go with ViSions version :)

  270. mr. kevon
    February 5th, 2010 | 22:14

@425, in terms of playback, no the VISION version is not the best. Most of the movie does not play fluidly like the FLAWL3SS one does! If you’ve seen the movie as many times as I have, you’d notice too that the VISION version does not play smoothly…

With the color saturation, yes VISION’s quality is much higher, BUT whenever a scene is in shadow, at night or a fade to black, THE MOVIE GETS BRIGHTER! It (for some reason) does not want to show the color black nor any shadows, which completely ruins the movie for me. The FLAWL3SS version keeps all the dark scenes, transitions and shadows at a consistent level.

So in short, 2/3 points for FLAWL3SS and 1/3 points for VISION.

Personally, I’m hoping for a blu-ray screener myself.

Alright folks, here’s the deal on the Vision release. Very, very nice. Super A/V. No glitches on playback and colors look very nice.

The only problem, and I’m not sure if all the other releases have it, is the sound. Yes, it sounds clear, although somewhat muted, but it just doesn’t add the right depth or impact to the big scenes that require big sound. Watching the grand finale left me wanting to trash the release and wait for one that had the proper sound.

Hey, I’m appreciative to those posting the links and sharing away, but before you invest on 2GB of a download, at least have a good idea of what you’re getting into.

    http://www.ninemsn.com.au

Judge rules in favour of iiNet Australia.

    10:31 AEST Thu Feb 4 201032

A Federal Court judge has found that internet provider iiNet cannot be held responsible for unauthorised downloads of movies on the internet.

A syndicate of studios, headed by Village Roadshow, had hoped to prove iiNet not only failed to take steps to stop illegal file-sharing by customers but breached copyright itself by storing and transmitting the data through its system.

But Justice Dennis Cowdroy on Thursday found that it was “impossible” to find against iiNet for what its users did.

“It is impossible to conclude that iiNet has authorised copyright infringement … (it) did not have relevant power to prevent infringements occurring,” Justice Cowdroy said in his judgment.

The judge recommended the application be dismissed and that the consortium of studios pay the court costs.

I got the Flawl3ss version. Looks pretty good to me. Great job. My only issue is that it will not play on my standalone DivX player. I reencoded with my DivX encoder and it would only play the first hour of the movie. Finally I just converted it to 2 DVD’s, and it plays nice and smooth all the way through. Sucks I had to go through all that to watch it but it beats trying to download another version, considering this is the best one out so far. Great job Flawl3ess.
