There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge’s intentions of driving off the native humanoid “Na’vi” in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na’vi people with the use of an “avatar” identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand – and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

Err, the cinema glasses work on polarised light so you need two physical projectors playing two copies of the film from a slightly different angle at the same time.

Current 3d stuff on tv’s uses different coloured light i.e. red/blue (really poor)

3d tv’s coming in the future work by showing 1 frame on the right eye and then 1 frame on the left eye, using electric glasses that shutter the eyes in sync with the film, usually at twice the standard frame rate, I can imagine the family feuds as someone’s glasses run out of batteries half way through a film.

I hope it’s the last option but I can’t see how if the fps is around 30.

    guys,

glasses from cinema wont work. you just need blue and red 3d glasses cheap on ebay. but looks nothing like cinema, and dont need 3dtv….but really not very good, better to watch in 2d.

Reported elsewhere as fake. Appears to use the red/blue process but is just one of the many 2D screeners. Has the same gitches near the beginning and at the approx 1 hour mark.

Someone ran the 2D screener through a filter that makes it appear to be floating inside your TV if you view it with red/blue glasses.

    NOT TRUE 3D.

    March 9th, 2010 | 23:29

just a thought here. rather than wearing red and blue lenses in your cheap glasses, would a sheet of red and blue tint, placed over the screen which is the size of your TV or LCD monitor

or would that be a waste of time and not give a 3D effect

  28. Amr Hassan
    March 9th, 2010 | 23:29

The polarization-based glasses work only with two-projection display systems. For your home viewing, you need the red and blue glasses.

whether this is a fake or not, i have several different types of anaglyph (red/blue) 3D glasses and none of them are the correct colour to see any 3D in the sample images.

    March 9th, 2010 | 23:32

ok, a couple of things plus one.

    1)
    i tried the sample with the glasses they gave me at the cinema and it didn’t work for me; maybe my specs aren’t enough and the screen where you watch this also has prerequisite specs;

    2)
my duh-ness aside, with so many scenes to choose from as a sample, did you really have to choose THAT one? i mean, granted, the story’s a no-brainer for anyone over 8 but still, i mean… sample and spoiler is a dodgy one.

    plus one)
this is my first comment after a lot of downloading, so: thanks a lot for your efforts. keep upping the good work, everyone!

    Don’t bother downloading.

This is not the same “3D” as show in cinemas. Like some other poster said, it seems like someone just ran it through some filters.

Again, this is NOT proper 3D!

  37. Bryan
    March 9th, 2010 | 23:43

Quick look at the sample shows it’s the standard red/blue 3D that just requires the cheapo paper glasses and works on any TV. Don’t expect theatre quality, of course.

To anyone confused about why the cinema glasses do not work. Its’s because they work by polarising light (1 eye vertically, and the other horizontally). The cinema screen, shows 1 frame you can see with both eyes, then one you can only see with your left, and finally one you can see with your right eye. giving in total 30+30+30 frames per second. there is no real 3d there, its a trick on your brain which messes with your depth-perception.

There is no way to replicate this without a 3D TV. Even then I’m almost certain, 3D (the new modern kind) is impossible using any of the curent codecs or media wrappers (Divx, xvid, mkv etc.)

So in short it will be YEARS, before anybody is downloading 3D stuff of sites like this (using the modern 3d technique)

    I hope that helped someone

I’m not sure what the guy was on about with the batteries in the glasses.

  48. Billy
    March 10th, 2010 | 00:15

To clear this up. We had this same release on Demonoid a while back.

It’s noted. you need the Red/Cyan color combo 3d glasses which are purchased cheap on Ebay or Amazon and you need one of the newer 3D compatible TV’s to project the movie properly with tweaked settings.

Hope this helps save some bandwith.

Thanks for the info. Cheers thanx.

As to the batteries question…. 3d tv glasses work in conjunction with the tv which require batteries… something to do with the tv at 100hz and the glasses at 50hz at correct times

Have you ever wonder why we need fancy 3D tvs when all you need is an image out of focus and some glasses?

People don’t be dumb, the two projectors stuff and the polarized thing is just for you to spend Money in the theather…

and when the blu-ray comes out they will tell you, you need two dvds to play the movie with full hd because it won’t work at common res, and it has to be played at the same time, see? there is a lot of money there, for you to not download the movie, you need to buy it

don’t be a fool, all you need is a weird image and some glasses, because it is what you have in front of you…

  52. billy boy
    March 10th, 2010 | 00:33

    @intro 73

Batteries are needed on the new 3D tv’s that are coming out this month, because they don’t have two projectors like the cinema they work by switching alternate eyes on and off. this means the glasses receive a signal from the tv to synch them and this is the bit that needs batteries.

    @Billy 74

the new 3d tv’s don’t have anything at all to do with red/cyan glasses

what the hell have you been smoking? how are you going to get 3d from a blurry picture?

our eyes see 3d as we are seeing a slightly different image with each eye this is why to see 3d movies we have to feed a different image to each eye.

and you won’t need two blu ray players to watch a 3d movie, there are 3d blu ray films out already, samsung is giving one away with there tv that goes on sale in the US this month

I think this is a 2D to 3D conversion (as opposed to an official anaglyph 3D release such as Final Dest 3, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Caroline, etc) This was probably converted from a 2D source. I’m guessing this because of the red and blue bars on either side of the screen (which is usually a result of the 2D to 3D conversion process). Also, the FBI Warning is in 3D as well, which is unusual for an actual DVD produced by the studio in Anaglyph 3D, but is typical of 2D to 3D conversions. Having said that, I have over 80 true anaglyph movies from a tracker with a 3D project, and about a dozen 2D to 3D conversions. As most of you know, anaglyph produces more of a layering
effect as opposed to reach out and touch your nose digital 3D. Usually this effect is barely evident in 2D conversions, but it works pretty well in some scenes in this release. If this has been converted from 2D, it’s one of the best conversions I have ever seen.
And for all you people who continue to “hope my glasses from the theatre work for this”, as has been stated over and over again, this is Anaglyph 3D, not digital theatre 3D. It uses red-blue glasses. Clear, shaded, or polarized 3D glasses WILL NOT work on Anaglyph movies.

Anyway, give it a try and see what you think. It’s from a great source, IMO when viewed with red-blue glasses, it is actually clearer than the SecretMyth, Jay78, and FLAWL3SS releases.

Less blurry when there is a lot of movement compared to the source used for the previous screeners.

Also, if anyone has read that FOX has already stated NO 3D DVD release for this movie or Blu either, Google it…this is not 3D.

People, unless you buy one of these really expensive new 3D LCDs that are just coming out in Japan forget about watching real 3D in your TV/LCD/LED TV/Plasma/whatever. The old colored glasses 3D is just a gimmick, it has nothing to do with real 3D and you’ll end up with an headache.

LOL @ fake homebrewed 3D bullsh!t that losers will bragging they have for weeks on end. Wake me up when the blu-ray rip gets here.

Fox announced they won’t be releasing Avatar in 3D until 3D TVs start selling.
