Avantasia - The Scarecrow [2008]

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the lack of music posts (which is my main area) from me recently, but I haven’t had a lot of time recently. I’m back and today I present to you the brand new Avantasia (Side project of Edguy frontman Tobias Sammet) album which was released a few days ago by group AMRC! This was one of my first favourite power metal bands and I highly recommend anyone checking out their first two albums. Sammet is a great vocalist, composer and on top of that a really funny and cool guy (I was fortunate enough to meet him in 2005). Enjoy and support the artist if you like the music!

Avantasia is a symphonic metal project created by Tobias Sammet, vocalist and frontman of the power metal group Edguy. The project’s title is a portmanteau of the words “avalon” and “fantasia” (”fantasy”) and describes “a world beyond human imagination” (a quotation from the booklet). The project consists of a self-titled EP, two full length albums with the subtitle The Metal Opera, two EPs called Lost in Space, and the upcoming album The Scarecrow.

    Why do all these power-metal band members look like they just walked out of “Queer eye for the straight guy”? There is nothing ‘rock’ about them, bunch of pussies…

    I do really dislike Power-Metal, it’s one of the worst Sub-Genres imho. Posting Music over here isn’t the best idea. I mean, some VA-Collection or something is fine but albums from single artist? There are just way to many different tastes and there’s so much music released everyday and picking one of the more “popular” and letting the others drown in the mass (even if they would be better) isn’t the thing. You can’t fit the people with music you like in a big blog like rlslog, I would prefer not to have albums posted than taking so much space with one single album you like.

    post some good OSTs or Collections instead ;).

    @mh…

    You havent been able to figure out the category system yet then? If you want for example a moooovie, you click on the Moooovies link :)

    This post is for people who LIKE power metal which means power metal fans are going to click on this post. That also means nobody here wants to hear you talk shit about it.

    @OST (12)

    Well, looks like you made a right fool out of yourself, since there is ZERO growling in this album. Further Tobias Sammet is one of the most respected vocalists in power metal and has a much more impressive voice than any of the generic pop bands i presume you listen to…

    Dumbass :P

    @ReeGed; Youre staff, so try at LEAST not to act like a child… about your so called genious category’s: the music section is all kinds of music. it could be anything from minimalism to noise etc. and to bad it happens to be on the front page of the blog. anyway - forget it, it’s your job to figgure it out as music is your main area.

    I’m not the biggest Sammet fan but if you have a chance to see him live with Avabtasia or Edguy use it. Saw them at the last Bang your Head. Didn’t expect much but was positively suprised by them.

    January 18th, 2008 | 02:52

    To those saying Tobi’s voice sounds like Roy Khan of Kamelot, Roy actually is the first voice you hear on this album as he guest sings on the first track, so maybe you’re confusing him with Tobias ;)

    And yes, I think this is a fake for two reasons,
    1) Quality is suspect (i.e. Track 3 sounds very muffled compared to others)
    2) There’s no “Promo” tag in the title, and I doubt this is a retail, would probably have that tag as well if it was.

    But that aside, it’s a pretty good album…different from the first two, but very solid nonetheless.

    what i listening 2 @ moment???
    hmmm lets see, i’m “rocking” DJ Green Lantern - I Produced That, DJ Doc Roc - Jay-Z & Led Zeppelin - American Zeppelin, Hussein Fatal - Makaveli Soldiers (RIP 2PAC)+ Snoop Dogg and Game - The Reunion Mixtape. Go on call me what u want, i listen 2 wiggles 2 (got kids) and i’m sorry 2 say it but Murry from the wiggles looks harder then the lead-singer from Avantasia.
    Mater-of-fact Anastasia looks like she could beat him in a girl-fight. Maybee thats why there names are so close.
