Well known group SiNNERS bring us HD DVD (one of the last big titles from HD DVD camp) rip of English war drama Atonement. Film received many awards including one Oscar for best music and BAFTA Award for best movie. Movie is average English war romance flick but there are some nice scenes and music is pretty good so it definitely worth watching on your HDTV with 5.1 surround.

Toshiba Corp is planning to stop production of equipment compatible with the HD DVD format for high-definition video, allowing the competing Blu-Ray camp a free run, public broadcaster NHK reported on Saturday.

Toshiba is expected to suffer losses amounting to tens of billions of yen (hundreds of millions of dollars) to scrap production of HD DVD players and recorders and other steps to exit the business, Japan’s NHK said on its website.
No one at Toshiba could be reached for comment.

The format war between the Toshiba-backed HD DVD and Sony Corp’s Blu-Ray, often compared to the Betamax-VHS battle in the 1980s, has slowed the development of what is expected to be a multibillion dollar high-definition DVD industry.
Toshiba was dealt a blow on Friday when Wal-Mart Stores Inc said it would abandon the HD DVD format, becoming the latest in a series of top retailers and movie studios to rally behind Blu-ray technology for high definition DVDs.

Toshiba plans to continue selling HD DVD equipment at stores for the time being but will not put resources into developing new devices, NHK said.

Another quality release from SiNNERS, this time its very good horror thriller 1408. Rip is 6.6 GB big because of dts track muxed so you can get extra sound quality from your 5.1 system. Looks like HD format war is finally over, Warner Bros will back only Blu-ray. Sad news for all HD DVD supporters, it is time to throw away your HD DVD

Time Warner’s Warner Bros. studio Friday said it would exclusively release high-definition DVDs in Sony Corp’s Blu-ray format, dealing a big blow to Toshiba Corp’s rival HD DVD technology. Warner Bros, Hollywood’s biggest seller of DVDs, representing about 18 to 20% of sales in the United States, was one of the few studios that backed both formats. All sides of the format war had agreed it was confusing to consumers and a stumbling block for a potential multibillion-dollar industry. Total DVD unit sales fell 4.5% in 2007, the first major year-over-year decline since the disc format debuted in 1997, according to Adams Media Research. Sales fell 4.8% to $15.7 billion.

“The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger. We believe that exclusively distributing in Blu-ray will further the potential for mass market success and ultimately benefit retailers, producers, and most importantly, consumers,” Warner Bros Chairman and Chief Executive Barry Meyer said in a statement. News Corp’s 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney, and Lionsgate are among studios backing the Blu-ray format. Viacom’s Paramount studios and General Electric’s NBC Universal release movies in HD DVD format.Warner said it would continue releasing in the HD DVD format until the end of May, although those releases would follow the standard DVD and Blu-ray releases.

Another great release from Septic, one of the best movies of 2007, western 3:10 To Yuma starring todays 2 best actors R.Crow and C.Bale (IMHO). This movie is very high rated on IMDb and RT and movie got some great reviews from press, critics praised performance of leading stars and performance of Ben Foster and veteran Peter Fonda. Based on the Elmore Leonard story, 3:10 TO YUMA is a riveting remake of the 1957 classic Western. It’s the story of Dan Evans (Christian Bale), a down-and-out rancher who lost his leg in the Civil War. When the notorious gunman Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) is apprehended nearby, a few local men are needed to escort him to the town of Contention so he can be put on the 3:10 train to Yuma Prison.

The small team of men set off, and are later joined by Evans’s young son William (Logan Lerman), who has run away from home to join them.
