The Raveonettes - Wishing You A Rave Christmas (WEB) (EP) (2008)
One of the more interesting things for the holiday season is seeing which artists will produce some new Christmas music. You generally see a couple of artists just come way out of leftfield with a Christmas single or an album. Here is an EP from Danish band the Raveonettes. Hope you enjoy.
The Raveonettes are a Danish rock and roll duo consisting of Sune Rose Wagner (on guitar, instruments, vocals) and Sharin Foo (on bass, guitar and vocals). Their music is characterized by close two-part vocal harmonies inspired by The Everly Brothers coupled with hard-edged electric guitar overlaid with liberal doses of noise. Their songs juxtapose the structural and chordal simplicity of 50s and 60s rock with intense electric instrumentation, driving beats and often dark lyrical content, similar to another of the band’s influences, The Velvet Underground. “We are not scared of being blunt about what the references are in our music,” said Sharin Foo. “For instance, if you look at our name, The Raveonettes, it’s a complete direct reference to The Ronettes and Buddy Holly “Rave On”. So, in that sense, we’re pretty clear about it.”

Here are a pair of pro wrestling DVD releases from independent group Ring of Honor. Pro wrestling fans, enjoy, and as usual, please don’t discuss the results of the shows in the comments, just for people who haven’t seen them.
This release looks good. Well regarded on IMDB and with a high-profile cast. The director is Jessica Lynch, the daughter of famed director David Lynch(Twin Peaks, The Elephant Man, Mulholland Drive)… The elder Lynch also serves as an executive producer on this.
Here is a big box set release from MTD, of 90s electro-metal stalwarts White Zombie. It seems like an absolutely huge set, and I know there are quite a few people out there who will dig this. Anyways, enjoy.
In what is looking like a decent day for music rleases, here’s this import-only copy of pop-punk band Sum 41’s Greatest Hits. The pre comes from COCMP3, which generally deals in Japanese music, so while this is outside of the musical range they general cover, with it being Japan-only, it also kind of fits. Anyways, enjoy.
For pop fans, here is the newest album from Britney Spears. Although it’s not due in stores until December, there was a rip a few days ago by FJORTiSO, that I assume was a web-rip, because the latest one, by ESC, is marked as retail. If you don’t have the previous version, I’m assuming this one is a higher quality, so enjoy.
This should be a treat for Weezer fans. Cuomo, a year after releasing Alone, releases the sequel. Although I haven’t listened to this one, I liked the original. Although some of the songs and a lot of the recordings were kind of rough, there was plenty to like in the collection of songs. Here’s hoping that this set is the same way. Thanks to FNT for the pre.
