This is the third music post brought to you by entrants of our music competition, this time by user hidden behind nick Chinballs.
This is an older release, from April 19th, but it is one that was a big hit critically and commercially and as such is a release of definite importance that wasn’t released on rlslog before.
If you follow underground hip hop at all, you know who Atmosphere are. Slug, the MC, and Ant, the producer. They are one of the leading groups in “backpack” rap, and we have the group WHOA to thank for this release, Atmosphere’s 6th studio release as a group.
Atmosphere is an American hip hop duo from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The members are rapper Slug (born Sean Daley, September 7, 1972) and DJ/producer Ant (born Anthony Davis). Active in various forms since 1993, they are one of the most commercially successful and long-lived independent hip hop acts.

Atmospehere is not backpack rap..i hate when underground artists get that label including myself…lol..they are simply a genius underground hip-hop act
Atmosphere is from my hometown. I’ve met them a few times and go to their shows regularly. although they don’t consider themselves rappers, they prefer the term rhyme-sayer’s. I also am not a big hip-hop fan but atmosphere is my exception because my friends got me into them and when i met them they seemed like pretty chill guys. I’m actually more into jambands. I would like to recommend a jamband from minneapolis called The Big Wu i’ll try to get a good rapidshare link to their newest album and my favorite album of theirs.

All the Atmosphere haters need to stop. This is a solid record, that is most certainly not “boring”. Atmosphere’s never been boring. For all the hip hop haters, just download the album and try it out. The beats certainly aren’t “primitive”. The production is great. This album isn’t Atmosphere’s best but its still a good album.
nice post. nice to see a local group (local to me) get some play on rlslog. been listening to atmosphere for many years. they are not the band they used to be, but this very easily could be their best album since god loves ugly. for those of you who dig the album, be sure to check out overcast and lucy ford as well (their first two formal albums).
