ATI announces Mobility HD videocards
In addition to desktop parts, AMD is officially introducing today ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2000 video solutions for notebook computers. “We set out to create a family of products that would revolutionize the graphics market by introducing leading-edge technology at game-changing price points,” said Rick Bergman, senior vice president, AMD Graphics Products Group. “We’ve delivered on this challenge, broadening the enthusiast gaming market so that more people than ever before have access to the phenomenal gaming and multimedia experiences that the ATI Radeon HD 2000 series introduces.”

Available immediately is the Mobility Radeon HD 2300, the entry-level part, which will be found in mainstream notebooks aimed at the sub-$1000 market. The HD 2300 is built off the 90nm process and is designed primarily just to power the Windows Vista Aero interface and playback high-definition video. Coming in July will be the higher-end 65nm DX10 parts, the Mobility Radeon HD 2400 and HD 2400 XT, which will bring gaming capabilities to thin and light midrange notebooks. Available at the same time will also be the top-end Mobility Radeon HD 2600 and HD 2600 XT aimed at enthusiasts and gamers interested in high-performance notebooks. Are you ready for DirectX 10 orgies at your notebook?

Intel and Nvidia for me
good move! all these new 3D games need a desktop PC with a high end ATI or Nvidia
Yea an ati card was a big let down for me
I’ll wait for open-source drivers first.
Isnt that like an R800 something ? It’s an older one in the screenshot, that’s for sure.
“I’ll wait for open-source drivers first.”
Fat chance
Mike has it right.
I actually use amd and Ati. I choose amd because their normally cheaper. I chose ati when I built my first computer, stuck with it since.
I smile because i dont know whats going on!
I read that this card is horrible and ATi really dropped the ball on this video card lineup.. Might as well get nividia 8800’s even though nividia has dropped the ball on video card drivers for all of the lineup too.
I especially like the park bout orgies ;p
What’s with the stupid Fanboy comments?
no one even knows what the new cards will be like, the only one reviewed so far is the flagship, which admittedly can’t compete with nvidia’s offering on dx9.
that still leaves the value and midrange wide open - more importantly, the only ones that are going to be on laptops!!
and that is even before there’s a single dx10 benchmark.
so quit your whining, and just be glad we have 2 companies competing for our money!
^^^ what are you 10?
grow up and go learn something before talk.
no ati/amd for me sorry and thats not a fanboy post i just don´t buy or use them
I’ve got a ATI 1900xt 512mbs card had for over a year and still loving it. All games I throw at it work nice hi settings hi 60+ FPS the only reason for me to upgrade is DX10.
I built a Nvidia 8800gts 640mbs system for a mate not long ago and I was not that impressed coming from my own system. FPS in some games were not that good image quality nothing special.
I’m not saying Nvidia 8800 cards ain’t good just a little over hipped.
Once ATI get there drivers right for these new cards(eg 2900xt) they should be good bang for buck. There drivers have always been good for me and always being improved.
