Ashampoo Burning Studio v7.01-TE

Recently a group ‘TE’ came out with a new Ashampoo release. Ashampoo Burning Studio 7 keeps the power and simplicity that made version 6 such a runaway success and adds several major new functions, including DVD video burning, modified copies and bootable discs. These are all functions that users of previous versions have asked for and they’ve made a great program even better. If you are a hardcore video editor, and you want to burn them on DVD: here is your program. It’s quite popular under the video editors, and I think some people here at RLSLOG will be quite happy with this one.

Since its initial release, Ashampoo Burning Studio has changed the way CD/DVD/Blu-ray burning software works. Instead of spending frustrating hours learning how to use hundreds of complicated functions you just select a task – for example “Burn Files”, “Backup Files” or “Burn Movies” – and then the program guides you through all the necessary steps.

You just choose your format, select your files and burn your disc. It really is that easy, but easy doesn’t mean you get less functionality: Advanced burning functions are also available for experienced users who want to choose specific file systems or use special boot images.

New functions and improvements in version 7:

  • Create Video DVD’s – Create Video DVDs from normal movie files. Almost all formats are supported (WMV, AVI, MPEG, ASF, …).
    - Add amazing looking animated DVD menus. They not only look impressive, but they also allow you to directly choose the movie to play on your DVD-Player .
    - Select one of many animated themes for the menu.
    - When you change the theme you instantly see an animated preview of the new one.
    - You can fit much more than 120 minutes of video on one DVD. Burning Studio will automatically adjust the encoding quality according to the available space on the disc.
  • For Experts - Experienced users can now also build their own bootable discs by importing a boot image. In addition to this you can also choose the file system you want to use for data discs and generate it directly. Supported file system options include ISO 9660 levels 1 and 2, ISO 9660 Windows (Romeo), Joliet and UDF (1.02, 1.5, 2.50, 2.60).
  • Improved backup and restore files
    - Specify at what size backup files will be split up.
    - Select files and folders that you want to restore.
  • Improved audio-CD ripping
    - Store your audio tracks as MP3 files.

System Requirements:

  • Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, Windows® Vista™
For users of Windows® 2000 we recommend Service Pack 2 or later.
As a user of Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, Windows® Vista you have to be logged in with full administration rights.

  2. May 9th, 2007 | 13:06

yup, another Nero user here :)

  3. May 9th, 2007 | 13:13

Well , Nero doesn’t work on my (and my brothers) Vista so I might give this one a try :)

Beats hell out of the bloated, resource hog Nero.

Not a resource hog like Nero. Will be giving this one a try.

  6. May 9th, 2007 | 14:52

I’ve never had a problem with Nero and resources. May be it’s because I use some older version, 6.3 or something like that. I’ve never found a reason to update from these 13 MB installation exes to these huge 150 MB+ packs full of useless junk. And if you have problems burning DVDs, it may be caused more likely by your DVD burner, and not the application…

i always use the latest release without problem, i also use it to burn my lightscribe dvd covers

  8. May 9th, 2007 | 15:17

    @Martin:
ConvertXtoDVD does burn good , so it’s not the burner :)

Uhm, how does this program handle subtitles?! Do I have to go through nagging processes of embedding them or do I just choose the file and the program does it for me?!

  10. May 9th, 2007 | 15:26

Im very curious about this burner so I will give it a try! I also use Ashampoo AntiSpyWare and i like it alot.

i dont know what you are talking about, but ConvertXtoDVD uses the burn capabilities of another software that u already use in your computer, ConvertXtoDVD does not burn by itself.

in the Newer Nero releases U must!!! use the custom installation option and deselect most of the useless features
this way it becomes a light prog like it should be.
I especially Hate the Nero-start-”smart” feature its for grandmas .

it takes about 15 mb’s and you are still using a newer
version with its little advantages .
i installed more features but at-least i know they exist

10X for the info and keep up the good work
    i love your app Reviews

  12. May 9th, 2007 | 15:29

i always delete the nero smart shortcuts and use on the Nero Burning ROM shortcut :P

LOL. All the windows users flock to bloated flashy-package ware. I can burn DVDs just fine using cdrecord on linux, which just happens to work with DVDs as well.

by the way this app is pretty fancy but it takes way too long to encode and burn!
4hrs in average fora 700 mb avi,! compare to the one im using right now taht can encode like 2 gig of avi in dvd format whit menus and all +burning it on dvd in like 30 mins.

For all those who love to mount their movie on dvd this is a great software and really fast nice compression …
    It’s called “convertxtodvd”

I use Ashampoo and ConvertXtoDVD. You can’t really say one is better than the other. I’ve never used Ashampoo for encoding DVD’s, but it does so much more than that. I use it for everything other than encoding, because that’s what convertxtodvd does better than any other program IMO.

Support Vista x64bit? I will stick with Nero! BTW: For burning discs you only need to install Nero Burning Rom, not the hole suite!
