They are just mad because another one of their get rich quick schemes has gone down the tube. And what's with this, "We believe that all music artistes should control their destiny...", sounds like something out of an episode of Heroes.

The artists should self promote..make their own websites...produce and market their own CDs ..yes it may be slower to get started ...however, it would benefit them more financially and career-wise over the long run ..perhaps the Torrent sites could even have sections on new recording artist as promotion..then from there if people like them they will know them and be able to buy releases in stores to support their work and future recordings..who needs these money grubbers anymore..people like them are bringinf the USA to ruin

First they sign contracts to give away the rights to control their work for money, and now they start crying about it? Hilarious!

I think that Trent Reznor was pretty smart for doing the last few albums he made as being digital downloads first. I don't mind the fact that the artists want to get paid (everyone wants to get paid...), and I think it's best if they can just skip all the greedy people in the middle of the artist and the fan who truely make all of the profits from sales. I think that sites like myspace are helping some artists get big without a record label also. Anyway... this is a movement in the right direction, and any artist who is backing it has the right idea for their future in music.

"We believe that all music artists should control their destiny because ultimately it is their art and endeavors that create the pleasure and emotion enjoyed by so many."

Then perhaps artists shouldn't be lining up around the block to sign contracts and relinquish that control to big record companies in hopes of making it big through their huge promotion machine, ya know? Just a thought...

Hush now, sure arent people like Simon Cowell the peak of what an industry such as this has to offer?

Producers and image changers are so hard to come by these days. And why not manufacture music, a group or a single artist to make ridiculous profits. For it is teh monehs that drives us.

good news imo. when i used to buy music, i can remember buying some albums priced at £16.99 from HMV! and the band will see no more than £1 from that.. and thats not a guess btw, that really is about the amount the band get to split between them from the sale of each album.

Lol, it's a nice development, but what chance do they really stand against RIAA? There's a lot of money behind it...

Btw, we should all pirate music to weaken RIAA.
