Arn Tempelriddaren 2007 SWEDiSH DVDRip XviD-MoA

Arn - Tempelriddaren (Arn: The Templar Knight) seems to be quite a popular Swedish movie from medieval times released by Nordic scene group MoA. This dvdrip offers great 2 CD quality but audio is completely Swedish, as well as the subtitles, so it’s only for our readers from Scandinavia now, may be someone will translate the subtitles into English later…

The film about Arn and Cecilia is set in Sweden as well as the Middle East, and offers a rich gallery of brave knights, powerful queens and treacherous kings. It is a tale of war and intrigue, friendship and betrayal, but also an unforgettable love story. Arn Magnussson is born in 1150 on Arnas farm in West Gothia in the western part of Sweden. He grows up to become an educated young man and a skilled swordsman. He meets Cecilia, the love of his life, but a cruel and jealous world forces them apart. Cecilia is imprisoned in a convent and Arn is sent away as a Knight Templar to the Holy Land, where war is raging between Christians and Muslims.

This movie was an OK adaption of a really great book. The movie felt kinda stale and slow paced could’ve been shortned somewhat, but the ending saves it i guess.

Bare on mind this is just the first movie of two, so it ends kinda abrupt and the next movie is, am to believe, is going to be really good since it bases on more on the second, which is the best one, and the third book in the trilogy.

Enjoyed all the books and saw this movie at the cinema. Its ok, but not as I wanted it to be. Its a love story and the movie seems to concentrate too much on the Arn-Cecilia relationship. Many of the character are historical correct. And the books are filled with history. And I really missed the battle between the “Folkungene” and the “Sverkerne. But the next part should be out around christmas this year, and more action is expected. Arn is cool though, a “post-viking-swedish-superhero” :)And he`s my brother in name hehe

    @12
Techno-Viking is from Germany, he’s not Swedish. Sadly I must say. :P

Anyway… saw this at the cinema and it’s an OK movie. My main gripe with it is that it’s too drawn out with a lot of scenes that really does nothing for the storyline. I get the feeling that they are scenes from the books that probably felt right when read but out of place in the movie.

Acting was also all over the place, good in some parts and just plain bad in others. It does have it’s moments though, overall it’s well worth watching. Especially for the US folks, it’s something other than Hollywood. :P

  27. anon
    June 6th, 2008 | 21:42

There will be an international “cut” of this movie later on. As i heard it will be one move cut from the first (this one) and the second (coming xmas ‘08) and will have less swedish convos and all international subtitles as i heard. That version will be the “award”-version.

Though i think this original version with good subs will be excellent for international viewers. This movie is international class and not all in swedish, there is english/french/latin/arabic spoken aswell

  28. Australisk

Jeg kan ikke forstår Svensk, Norsk eller Finsk. =’(
    Jeg vil Engelsk undertekst! Hehe.
Perhaps I can understand a little bit of the movie without subtitles though hehe.

For anyone thinking of getting the PAL DVDRip, it only has undertekst in the 3 aforementioned languages, not English as someone here claimed.

  29. TwistedSoldier
    June 6th, 2008 | 22:35

It looks like a good film, I will be looking forward to some sort of english version if they are making an international cut as quoted by anon but subs will do if its a good film, besides its nice to see the history of other cultures or the view from there perspective.

anyway i liked the movie. it’s not super great on it’s own but having in mind there will be another part i think it will be great.

it got a little confusing sometimes jumping back and forth between different languages.

It’s not that much about the templars really, but about Arn’s life from a boy in Sweden to becoming a templar knight in Jerusalem and back.

But I found this, not sure if ISBN is for the swedish or english books.

I think there are parts set in England. Cause in the trailer English actor Simon Callow can be seen as a priest. Hence there being English language for those parts, not English subtitles for the whole film. Therefore the language specs for the DVD-R would be correct.

A Swede might be able to translate the Swedish parts into English, but what about the French, Latin & Arabic parts..?

    This rip is excellent quality.
I’d rather there be subs for this version than for a shorter/ edited ‘international’ version.

Love when medieval films are by the countries they are set in. American accents ruin the believability.

@71 I’d be really careful here. Don’t confuse a film with real history!
It’s probably all wrong or twisted, same as Braveheart or The Tudors. They are just telling an entertaining story that should be viewed as loosely based on historical facts, nothing more.

If you want to learn about history, watch a documentary or (even better) read a history book. :-)

  75. todd

when salahudin ayobi tried to conquer Jerusalem was really part of the HISTORY BRO… AND if i were after of history, guess i wouldn’t even be viewing this website… i just sad that u will learn lot from this MOVIE… so whats wrong with that?

DO YOU EVEN KNOW SALAHUDIN AYOBI???

“If you want to learn about history, watch a documentary or (even better) read a history book.” - DON’T BORE ME…

“Don’t confuse a film with real history!”
CAN’T U LEARN HISTORY IN A FILM?- am i confusing anyone? OR JUST YOU??? your the one confusing yourself…

it was my own OPINION… if you don’t know that term, YOU READ A DICTIONARY!

  76. rogard
    June 19th, 2008 | 13:47

    @todd,

    why are you so angry?
Since I have learned a lot about history during my studies (although the crusades were not my area of special interest) I know that filmmakers tend to be rather liberal with historical facts. So the answer is “No” in 99% of all cases: you can’t “learn history” by watching a fictional film. I have yet to come across a film that did not bend the actual facts in favor of an entertaining story - which is fine…as long as the audience does not regard the plot and story settings as factual history. Films are a great way to get people interested in history though.
But you just believe whatever you want to believe. I won’t stop you, and to be honest, I doesn’t matter to me at all.

If I were you, I’d read a book about civilized behavior once in a while. Yes, a book, not a film.

    Have a nice day.

Well Done for the Subs and I agree, you would have to be quite Naive to believe what you were seeing in the Flicks as being historically accurate, and (71 Todd) to boldly argue with someone who’s talking plain sense just makes you look bloody stupid as-well as naive.
