Armed Assault CLONEDVD-PROCYON

Group PROCYON released first CloneDVD of highly expected tactical FPS game Armed Assault (also known as ArmA: Combat Operations). I was waiting for this game for a long time, because it’s a sequel to Operation Flashpoint, released by same developer studio Bohemia Interactive. The main attraction of this game is the unique posibility to freely move in the game world - although you have some targets and aims, it’s completely up to you how will you reach the destination or by which way do you kill the enemies. It is also quite realistic, so don’t expect taking 4 bullets and continuing in your way, that’s not Unreal Tournament. Multiplayer included. Give it a try!

ArmA is a first person tactical military shooter with large elements of realism and simulation. This game features a blend of large-scale military conflict spread over large areas alongside the more closed quarters battle. The player will find himself thrust in the midst of an engaging and expanding storyline, fighting against smart, aggressive enemies who will continually provide a challenge over a massive landscape.

A small US Army contingent has been sent to the Atlantic island of Sahrani with the purpose of helping to train the army of the local pro-American monarchy. The Kingdom of South Sahrani, rich in natural resources, has always been at odds with its Northern neighbor, the Democratic Republic of Sahrani. In recent years however, the situation has settled into an uneasy yet peaceful coexistence.

But the Democratic Republic of Sahrani sees the training of Southern troops by the US as a threat. When they learn that the US troops have finished their deployment and are in the process of shipping out, the North prepares to strike while a false sense of security still occupies the minds of their Southern neighbors.

Game features:

  • Story driven singleplayer campaign: by choosing the right mission order when playing the 20+ mission campaign you write your own history. Play it differently next time and find new ways to victory!
  • Large scale multiplayer: battles where tanks supported by infantry and helicopters take control of an enemy city can be played with 100+ living opponents in a role of both friendly and enemy forces.
  • More than 30 weapons: a new and improved recoil system gives unique firing characteristics to every weapon.
  • Vast environment to explore: an area over 400 square kilometers in size, full of flora and fauna is ready to be explored at your command.
  • More than 30 modern vehicles: all vehicles in the game can be controlled - tanks, armoured vehicles, helicopters, airplanes, civilian cars or even boats.
  • Multiple gunners: utilize the multiple gunner positions on tanks and helicopters to rain death on your enemies both in multiplayer missions and singleplayer campaign.
  • HDR Lighting effects: ambushing an enemy with the sun in your eyes leaves you at the disadvantage. Think smart, fight better!
  • Real constellations and tides: ArmA’s great depth even includes such features as fully simulated star maps, lunar cycles and tides. Watch where you park your vehicle, soldier!
  • Built-in mission editor: create you own scenarios using the easy-to-use mission wizard, advanced built-in mission editor, scripting language or BI tools available online and share your creation with the game community.

Minimum system requirements:

  • CPU: 2.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
  • RAM: 512 MB
  • Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce FX series or ATI Radeon 9500 series or higher (Pixel Shader 2.0)
  • HD space: 1 GB (or more as needed for downloadable addons)
  • Operating system: Windows XP or Windows 2000

Crap? This is the best First & Third person military simulator on the market. The engine is rough around the edges at times but given the scope of the game this is understandable. It looks quite frankly amazing as far as I’m concerned and it plays just as well too.

No war game has ever captured the true feeling of combat in a warzone as convincingly and terrifyingly as Armed Assault (and its predecessor Operation Flashpoint).

The game isn’t perfect, but it’s a small price to pay for what is a unique game with no equal or competition.

  4. February 16th, 2007 | 15:42

This game isn’t all that great…Doesn’t come close to Battlefield 2. The engine needs lots more work and the graphics are laughable. Operation Flashpoint…another crappy game. The only good thing about Operation Flashpoint was that you could create missions.

Armed Assault and Battlefield 2 are two completely different style of games, AA is a warfare sim, and BF2 is a multiplayer arcade FPS, there is nothing sim about it whatsoever.

The fact that people can`t differentiate between the two is laughable.

i love fps, but i love operation flashpoint too because it was more realistic….and this looks even more real…

i think ill give it a try

  7. February 16th, 2007 | 16:07

I never said the styles were the same. So you are laughable for not reading my post correctly stupid.

“This game isn’t all that great…Doesn’t come close to Battlefield 2″ Is a statement comparing the two games, which would mean to compare them you would have to find them similar.

Operation Flashpoint was the most underrated of all time, it was just too hard for the newbies. Sure the graphics are not the best, but the GAMEPLAY is so great I don’t care. In most games there is a compromise between graphics and game play, few have BOTH. I REALLY have been waiting for this release, it should be a better Opflash.

  10. February 16th, 2007 | 17:01

It’s not a sequel to Operation Flashpoint. It’s merely from the same developers and has sort of the same gameplay but has absolutely nothing to do with Operation Flashpoint. Check the interviews with the devs for confirmation. :P

    February 16th, 2007 | 17:04

I’ve installed Operation Flashpoint two days ago and I’ve found that it didn’t age very well (gameplay is still amazing though) and now there’s a sequel. Ubercool :)

  12. Cigol
    February 16th, 2007 | 17:32

Kevin, it has everything to do with Operation Flashpoint! Armed Assault IS operation flashpoint. This game is ‘Operation Flashpoint 1.5′ - and whilst they will release a true sequel further down the line, it is not unfair to call Armed Assault a sequel to the original (king of wargames).

Battlefield 2 is a fine game. It has a better sound engine (apart from AA’s sound occlusion). The graphics engine of BF2 is also very good (but not as ‘amazing’ or as realistic as Armed Assault. Not to mention anywhere near as vast or varied). But despite this BF2 lacks any decent single player and the underlying gameplay is hugely geared towards fast arcadey multiplayer fun. Armed Assault is completely different in this regard and the poster comparing the two (on any level) is failing to recognise the completely different audiences they are tailored for.

BF2 is to Armed Assault as Apples are to Pears.

  13. February 16th, 2007 | 18:00

A sequel needs a connection to the original, Armed Assault doesn’t have anything to do with Operation Flashpiont. Operation Flashpoint 2 is being developed right now, THAT’S the sequel. This is just a little fund raiser to invest into the development of Operation Flashpoint 2.

  14. February 16th, 2007 | 18:05

Martin: “Multiplayer included. Give it a try!”
    what do u mean?

    February 16th, 2007 | 18:45

Armed Assault is getting 88% and up on the review scale, and it ’s interface is said to be the exact interface of Opflash, that looks pretty close to me.

  17. Cigol
    February 16th, 2007 | 19:09

    Kevin please, get a clue.

The game is EXACTLY THE SAME only it has many improvements across the board. This isn’t even up for debate, it’s a fact. Armed Assault IS Operation Flashpoint. It is a minor sequel. And it is very much connected with Operation Flashpoint.

Also this is NOT a fundraiser for Operation Flashpoint 2 as this game has nothing to do with OPERATION FLASHPOINT 2. Operation Flashpoint 2 is a completely different game to the original Flashpoint and to Armed Assault as a result.

Don’t comment if you don’t know. Honestly.

Operation Flashpoint 2 isn’t even made by Bohemia Interactive (it’s in works but Codemasters owns rights for the title and BI is not developing for them anymore).

  20. February 16th, 2007 | 21:46

I’ve played Operation Flashpoint for YEARS, I’ve been with the community for even longer. The devs have said it countless times, Armed Assault has no connection with Operation FLashpoint!! Did you even play Armed Assault? ‘Cause I have and there is nothing Operation Flashpoint related. Now if you’re talking about the interface and stuff like that, that’s gameplay. That’s like saying Mafia, The Godfather (the game) and Scarface (the game) have a connection with GTA. Well they don’t and neither do ArmA and OFP. To have a connection they’d need a story based in the same universe, which they don’t. The setting isn’t even the same. NOTHING LEADS BACK TO OFP.

And I know that Operation Flashpoint 2 will not be called that, I’ve been with the development of ArmA for a couple of months now and I’ve been watching it closely. The current codename for OFP2 is “Game 2″. However when you go to the page you’ll see that the devs are still calling it OFP2. Check it out here: http://www.bistudio.com/games/of2.html

ArmA IS IN FACT a fund raiser because OFP2 (or what ever the final name will be) is a nextgen game. I don’t know if you’ve noticed lately but nextgen games are pretty damn expensive and Bohemia Interactive is just a bunch of ex-Codemasters developers so right now no invester in the world is putting in big loads of cash for OFP2 because they have yet to prove that ArmA will be a succes. If it doesn’t then OFP2 will never happen.

So buy the game if you like it…

  23. February 16th, 2007 | 23:33

    Kevin.

*********************”Did you even play Armed Assault? ‘Cause I have and there is nothing Operation Flashpoint related”*********************

Yes, I have been playing the German release for some time now. It is Operation Flashpoint right down to its very core. There is no tangible ‘difference’ between Armed Assault and Operation Flashpoint. If you are going to try and argue differently then you really are going to have to play the two games and then come back to me - as otherwise you’re talking nonsense.

*********************”Now if you’re talking about the interface and stuff like that, that’s gameplay. That’s like saying Mafia, The Godfather (the game) and Scarface (the game) have a connection with GTA. Well they don’t and neither do ArmA and OFP.”*********************

Wrong, again. GTA3 and GTA Vice City are two completely different games with two completely different story lines and settings - yet both are still ‘connected’. They both use the same core and as a result they are both indistinguishable in nature.

The same goes with Armed Assault and Operation Flashpoint. Your example of comparing apples with pears (Mafia, Godfather, Scarface) is silly and completely out of context.

*********************”To have a connection they’d need a story based in the same universe, which they don’t. The setting isn’t even the same. NOTHING LEADS BACK TO OFP.”*********************

Maybe in the world of Kevin, but not in the real world.

Incidentally the devs have started a project to convert the original Flashpoint material to Armed Assault. You see Codemasters own Operation Flashpoint, not BIStudios - hence original games materials absence.

*********************”And I know that Operation Flashpoint 2 will not be called that, I’ve been with the development of ArmA for a couple of months now and I’ve been watching it closely. The current codename for OFP2 is “Game 2″. However when you go to the page you’ll see that the devs are still calling it OFP2. Check it out here:”*********************

Cheers, but I’ve known about it for years.

*********************”ArmA IS IN FACT a fund raiser because OFP2 (or what ever the final name will be) is a nextgen game. If it doesn’t then OFP2 will never happen.”*********************

Kevin. Operation Flashpoint 2 is another game entirely. You seem to know this (now at least) but in previous posts you declare ignorance to operation flashpoint by stating it’s not connected to Armed Assault (when they are clearly both the same game). Thus any further declarations of Operation Flashpoint 2 are going to be greeted with that in mind.

*********************”So buy the game if you like it…”*********************

    I have, thanks.

  26. Cigol

No, there isn’t. The enemy forces are composed of various skintones as well.

Why a lot of people are surprised at the NFO being offensive I don’t know. They are written by talentless hacks who think swearing every other minute is hilariously edgy & cool. It’s not the first offensive or dumb NFO and it won’t be the last.

    Do people still read them?

by the way you cant compare this to Battlefield 2
This is a wartime SIMULATOR, not a friggin action FPS shooter.

This one is realistic with a realistic pace, without spawn points or extra lives, you die, you die. simple.
Battlefield 2 is a FPS action shooter, you cant compare two different genres.

    OP:FP
    Developed by BI Studios
Marketed by Codemasters as ‘Operation: Flashpoint’

BI and Codemasters fall out and go seperate ways

Codemaster retains the naming rights and start work on a title, by a completely different developer, and call it OP:FP 2

BI Studios start work on the follow up to OP:FP, but due to the naming issues with Codemasters, call it on ArmA.

ArmA is the true programming sequel, to OF:FP, coded by the same coders, using a modified engine fo the original game, but without the rights to the original name.

Codemasters OP:FP2 will be taking the original code and trying to update it, but it will be a completely new game, by new coders, who are just cashing in on the popularity of OP:FP, which was by the way one of the most modded games in video game history.

  40. February 17th, 2007 | 20:46

Cigol and Kevin you are both too funny.

Cigol is right that the underlying engine is an updated OpFlash. The gameplay is updated OpFlash. The interface is updated OpFlash. The games are obviously related.

Kevin is right that there is no connection between the games in the in-game fiction. It isn’t exactly a sequel. What happened in OpFlash is never mentioned in ArmA.

Please stop with the “I’m right” “no I’m right” crap: you both are, but you are talking about different things. It’s like two people arguing saying “the sky is blue!” “no you idiot grass is green!” “no the sky is blue” “no grass is green! moron!”.

Kevin: Not really, I knew exactly what he was talking about and I made that clear. Now if you were able to see that part of my post…

Omni, you have to be an idiot to compare Battlefield to Armed Assault/Operation Flashpoint. They both are for totally different audiences.

And Kevin, Armed Assault IS Operation Flashpoint 1.5. So what if it doesn’t have the same setting or the storyline. The core gameplay formula is exactly the same. Its Operation Flashpoint with a different name.

The choppers & tanks are better than in OPFP, but the forests looked better in OPFP.

    Latest Patch: 1.05

I have the 1.04 version (downloaded via torrent), which I cannot upgrade to 1.05 because it says the serial key is wrong.

After that I’ve noticed that they blacklisted the cd_key in some multiplayer servers.

Does anyone know a CD_KEY changer for this game?

  63. March 10th, 2007 | 18:25

Razor has a keygen out, you’ll still need to reinstall the game for it to work. It’s keys makes the menus english. The cracked 1.05 exe’s from Hatred doesn’t work so well as they trip up the FADE protection causing aiming to be near impossible and sometimes you turn into a little bird.
