in response to “some think it’s crap”… the codec is fine, but the player just is a pain… zero usability, i think v7 was first to support fullscreen, damn that apple way… too stupid for second mouse button… just had to setup email accounts on latest OSX, and recognized they dont even have ‘ok’ and ‘cancel’ buttons for dialoges, just red and green lamps on the window’s titlebar. and wheres the start menu? and why does that menu on top of the screen provide menu for focused application??? how stupid is this when using app in windowed mode? did i mention no right mouse button? well and the @ character is on a ‘think’ different key (m or n?) trisexual apple/mac/osx and all the users who are so stupid they believe they’re smart but they just fall for stupid fashion. i’ve hated them since back in school where they ended up upside down in trashcan. and the all that apple patents… “uhhhh we are soooo smart, we invented putting a jog-wheel [like on vcr's for ever] on a computer mouse, ohhhh we are so great, lets get patent on that superb innovation”.

Ah, give the guy a break. Quicktime may be avoided with QT Alternative, but it’s not the pile of bloatware RealPlayer is. I believe it also have some nice features.. like something related to panoramas… I don’t know – I stopped using it eons ago. What I’m saying is that some may even like it so it’s not that useless like that mysteriously disappeared smut release from yesterday.
I love how everyone starts talking about QT alternative can be used, and the author is wrong, when he clearly stated that “QuickTime is necessary *sometimes*”. Did all of you posters quickly jump on QT alternative without even reading the post?

Thanks Badman. What I meant is that although standalone RealPlayer Alternative is a definite must (I also hope you all know how to enable .rm support in Winamp), standalone QT Alternative is rather a significantly smarter choice that some may want to disregard for whatever reason.

Yep – a post on official QuickTime is counter-productive here. Agree completely with all supporters of QuickTime Alternative. It’s free and you get all the functionality of Media Player Classic. Same thing for RealPlayer – avoid it like the plague. Get Real Alternative – runs in MPC as well. Anyway, the last time I even saw a RAM file was over a year ago – I hope they just die.

The people complaining about Quicktime are the same people who see nothing wrong with using the crappy coded MKV programs from Russia. Avoid their opinions like the plague. If it works correctly and does not make you install 3000 other programs to make it work and you like it, then use it. (notice I said “if it works and it does not make you install three thousand different other programs to make it work like MVK does. NOT just “IF it works.” )
This post RLSLog, clearly shows that these kids cannot or will not follow your rules. This post was about Quicktime. All they need have said was they did not like it, instead of doing that and abiding by your rules clearly posted above, they go all over the map.
maybe it is time for you to start cleaning house again and banning these kids that refuse to play by the rules you clearly have set up.

QT is pretty useless. There are MANY alternatives that are much better. Anyhow, I grabbed this for the keygen, but just wanted to report that it didn’t work on a Mac with latest QT (released 2 days ago).
well u have to have QT when u have iTunes
so its usefull to have the Keygen
turn the standard into PRO
then u can save qt files from the net
one thing, turn of auto updates in QT
also
go to Run, typ msconfig
and remove QT & iTune aps from Start up and boot
Matroska is a container, not a codec. And if you can’t install the proper filters to play them, you shouldn’t complain.
Quicktime is much more than a player people, being a pro video and film editor it has made my life very simpler than fiddling with different codecs, frame rates, progressive/interlaced, blah blah. It’s fast and easy to use, never crashes (for me anyways) even when converting tens of gigs of HD content and multiple conversions at the same time! The truth is that, as some people here mentioned, it is CPU consuming as a player (about twice of VLC for example). I may sound like an ad but being my job it is imperative to be fast and reliable… Dont criticise something u dont understand, its bad for u

To 17 macusersintheface: Quicktime has been able to play full-screen video since version 3, at least, but you need the PRO version. The regular version only plays in a window and can’t do any editing, although i don’t know why anyone would ever use it with keygens always available for Pro. QT Pro is far more powerful than QT regular. It’s great for editing video if it’s MOV or DV. For AVI and some MPEG, i use Virtualdub, another great program.
Why do groups even release this? The same keys that have worked years ago still work (Dawn Fredette, anyone).
As for QT Alternative, I would rather install the full QT and delete QT Player and the extra language files (which is the only advantage to QT Alternative) than trust some dodgy third party installer.
this file has only the QT player. There is no pro version with it. How do I get the full pro ?
How to register QuickTime Pro:
First thing to do is get the latest version of QuickTime from the apple website. The free version is what you want. After you have installed it open quicktime, click the edit tab, go to Preferences and click register.
Example:
edit>Preferences>Register
Use the keygen to obtain a serial. Too easy!!
