Apple Mac OSX Leopard v10.5 ISO – OSX

OS X Leopard

The wait has finally come to an end!

An interesting release which many people would be looking forward to. Apple OS X v.10.5 “Leopard” is leaked two days in advance before the official retail release!

I’m not sure why OS X leaks out before the launch. This is not the first time something of this sort is happening. Anyway it’s a fantastic release and I’m going to down this & dress up my MacBook Pro with the big cat, Leopard.

I’ve already posted an article on what’s new and notable in Leopard.

Been around in some Private Trackers, you got to wait for sometime for the torrent to appear in Public Trackers.

Release Name: APPLE.MAC.OSX.LEOPARD.V10.5.ISO-OSX

Could somebody tell me if this is just another blank DMG or whether it’s the real deal. As in the final GM release candidate??? Thanks.

This is Build 9A581 and is the GM. Works great too.

BTW all the people that are having trouble burning the image, it’s actually pretty funny. Mac users are use to being able to work with their windows files, but it just simply isn’t the case of windows being able to work with Mac HFS. That’s why you can’t burn the images, or they will show up as “unexpected EOF” etc. You can see this by loading the iso you make into something like MagicISO. Windows only sees the Bootcamp part of the image, so your 6+GB image only shows up as ~470mB in Windows.

So yes, you are creating ISO image files, but they are still mac formatted. If you have an iPod, just use it as an external drive, use disk utilities to load the .dmg on there and install from it. Figure out the burning crap later.

Also check “skip checksum” in disk utils to save yourself 10+ minutes.

So no tricks?? The real thing? Awesome. Looking forward to installing this on my Brand New 2.16 MacBook :D Thanks a lot.

Does the Rapidshare version work or not?

  6. Mikael
    October 25th, 2007 | 14:37

    hey:

It doesn’t seem to work no. I downloaded all the files but got “wrong checksum” and a 2.2Gb file when it was done.

    October 25th, 2007 | 14:48

    what about the bittorrent file?

  8. Mikael
    October 25th, 2007 | 14:51

    Hey:

Wait! It might work. I unpacked it with UnrarX and got “all OK” and now I have a 6,66Gb file. This might be it!

  9. hey
    October 25th, 2007 | 15:26

    Does it work?

    October 25th, 2007 | 16:19

    Dearest,

I’m currently burning the image using Disk Utility onto a DL DVD. Is it normal that it states the image as “disk3″?
I bought only one DL DVD, and really don’t fancy going to the shop once more. :p

If not, what is the correct way to turn this osx-leopard105.dmg into a bootable DVD using a MacBook with superdrive? I mean, from what I heard it SHOULD be the easiest route, nevertheless I did not find the reassuring words.

    October 25th, 2007 | 16:20

Still no confirmation? Means it doesnt work. Does it? Dont wanna sit all day long in front of rapidshare for nothin

    October 25th, 2007 | 16:36

    @ hey, 112

Well I assume it works, check the earlier reactions. Also I have mounted the .dmg on my desktop and this looks fine. OSX Leopard install screen popping up.

    October 25th, 2007 | 16:38

    IT WORKS.

the only problems i’ve encounter so far are:

    * the crack for CS3 quits.
    * no sign of iMovie, iDvd, GarageBand.
    * i can’t find the compositing option in iChat.

    October 25th, 2007 | 16:47

I just burn the .dmg file on DL DVD and just boot from it on my Mac?

  15. rptsk!
    October 25th, 2007 | 16:58

    lol @ vlad

I actually manually removed those three from my Tiger install because I would never use them and they eat up disk space.

  16. vlad
    October 25th, 2007 | 17:02

i also usually remove garageband :-p

ok so my only problem is that i can’t find the compositing option in Ichat (you know, when you can add a video as a background and pretend you are somewhere elese – the beta had it).

anyone knows where it is ?

guys, if you can use an external harddrive to install this. just use disk utility to restore the .dmg file to a partition.

you must rename the partition to match the name of the mounted .dmg.

waaaay faster intall, and you dont have to worry about burning bad dvds. they are kinda expensive.

    October 25th, 2007 | 17:27

I just finished downloading the rapidshare files. When i unrared them, i got an error message and a 2.66GB .dmg file

    :(

  19. rptsk!
    October 25th, 2007 | 18:22

Back again. It seemed this way to burn it was fine, except that it failed the verification in the end. At the second reboot I did enter the Leopard setup, but again failed disk consistency check inside the installation.

Now is the question: is it the dmg or did something go wrong in the writing process.

    October 25th, 2007 | 18:25

will try the external harddisk method when I come home.

    @81

    Thx Revert for the link.

while I’m a Mac user for a long time, I’m not a fanboy, and I know that apple’s crap does not smell any better the microsoft.

and the only reason there are no viruses is because of the market share. trust me, if more ppl would use Mac, there would be loads of viruses and the OS would not save you.

Besides, unfortunately thanks to the continuous campaign by Apple (just turn it on + and use it) in general, Mac users are much more dumb than their Windows counterparts.

I could send a file to anyone and they would click on it cause the OS protects them.

Ok, so when I try to run the dmg file it’s asking me for a password??? Has anyone else run into this problem. The torrent that I d/l (i think the same one linked on this page) has an .rtf listing what the passphrase is but it doesnt work for….. Anyone help?

    October 25th, 2007 | 23:54

Ok, for some reason, the result i get when i use The Unarchiver when i unrar the rapidshare files is a 2.66GB file.

When i use MacHacha, i get what i think is the right size: 6.56GB. The problem is that the file does not have an extension. I tried adding “.dmg” to the name of the file, but it gives me an error saying “The following disk image failed to mount” when i Open it. Help please.

    Thanks.

    October 26th, 2007 | 02:58

just finished installing this from the above RS links.

    no problems at all.

i used “rar expander” ver 0.8.5 to expand it.

    also try:
    unrarx
    simplyrar
    the unarchiver

also, i used the external partition method. wow, 15 min install time!

just use disk utility to “restore” the disk image to an external hard drive partition.

    also remember:
the hard drive MUST BE FORMATED AS guid TO BE BOOTABLE ON AN INTEL MAC.

The dmg file seems fine, but when I check the creation date of the files within the package, it says Sept. 23 2007. Can someone confirm this is the final version (9A581)???

  26. matt
    October 26th, 2007 | 06:05

yes, this is version 9A581, kernel version: Darwin 9.0.0, everything works perfect, besides Software Update… ;)

it will also work with this os version.

    October 28th, 2007 | 00:42

Well i found a craq that i thought it worked. But unfortunately it didn’t worked on mines. Anyways, i found the craq at demonn***.com After using Leopard for 2 days decided to go back to Tiger. Most of the Leoprd functions were operational but i had the feeling that it operates much slower than Tiger…Iam using a 2,4Ghz 2gb ram Macbook Pro.

The Rapidshare is not working for me. It says the #53 and #69 are corrupt. I tried downloading them again but with no luck. I tried unpacking with all the unarchivers mentioned in these comments + Winrar on windows with the same errors everywhere :(

  41. rptsk!
    October 28th, 2007 | 15:36

No succes here either. Though the unrar process went fine, I get an error (2) when restoring to a partition.

I have DLd this, however, I saw it running on a friends Macbook, it looked a tad sluggish compared to Tiger, also its 3x the size of Tiger, so not sure if I really want to upgrade. Is there really a good enough reason..other than it looks prettier and its new and shiny??
