More bad news for the iPhone:
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/Dispatch/AppleWhackedByIPhoneWorrie.aspx

High expectations can produce big disappointments.

That's what is happening to Apple (AAPL, news, msgs) today, after AT&T (T, news, msgs) reported that only 146,000 iPhones were activated in the second quarter.

Shares of Apple were down $3.75, or 2.6%, to $139.95 at midday on the news, which one analyst called a "reality check" for Apple. Shares had been down as much as $7.15 earlier this morning.

Comment 5: Johnny

I was just going to say the exact same thing, except for the US part. In this day and age, what kind of a moron are you if you try links like that out. Still, it's a big fluke on Apple's side.

i have an iPhone and all I can say is that it is the best mobile phone/ pda in the United States today! I can't picture life without my iPhone. Get this I can actually clock in at work and leave and still do the daily fundings without being there at my work computer because my iPhone will receive a web site certificate! That's incredible. So I leave 3 hours early and the boss doesn't care becuase I'm paid to do fundings and payroll. I just never open emails from sources I don't know and I never wifi except at home. I use the AT&T edge network and it is sufficient to get my work done. Of all the people I have met that has an iPhone they will never go back to microsoft pda's. Plus I can load all the files from RLS on my iPhone and blow peoples minds :) You gotta love RLSLOG.NET

Well, iPhone got in the news because of all the hype.
But to be honest, this is just one of many phones that can be hacked in one way or another. From Windows Mobile to Blackberry to Nokia, all systems have been hacked at one time. Some more some less.

The biq questions, how quickly can they close the hole? That is more important since it is almost impossible to design something without glitches of some kind. If they fix it quickly (quicker than toshiba with their new windows mobile phone) it will bring good press. Give them thumbs up for support and as a result they will sell even more phones.

For example, an attacker can send an iPhone user an e-mail that says, “‘Check this link out. It’s great,’” Charles Miller, the firm’s principal security analyst, told ABCNEWS.com. If the user then clicks on the link to the site (...)

... then the user is stupid and deserves it. But since iPhone is sold in US currently, I think it is possible :)
