Apple chooses European carriers for iPhone

Apple has chosen T-Mobile, O2, and Orange as its European launch partners for the iPhone after wrangling a revenue-sharing agreement, according to the Financial Times. The four companies are set to announce their partnership by the end of the month, the report said. The deals would require the carriers to share 10 percent of all revenue from voice and data services over the iPhone with Apple, according to the report. Apple has a revenue-sharing agreement in place with AT&T, the exclusive iPhone carrier in the U.S.

No new details surfaced in the report about the type of iPhone that would hit Europe, but most industry observers think Apple has a 3G model in mind for across the pond. T-Mobile provides mobile service to Germany, Orange operates in France, and O2 is based in the U.K. Apple has said it wants to launch the iPhone in Europe by the end of this year. Tim Cook, the company’s chief operating officer, mentioned that Apple wants to start in Europe with “a few major countries,” and France, Germany, and the U.K. probably fall into that category. This choice doesn’t come as a big surprise for me – the selected companies are the biggest on European market and they offer international services in many countries…

T-Mobile already has the MDA Touch! Way better than the iPhone and under 100€ with a T-Mobile contract! It’s actually Mobile Windows based, so you can download a bunch of software for it… I love mine!

T-Mobile MDA is better already:P It has micro-sd cards… So you can have as much memory as you like (though not at one time), not the crappy 4 OR 8 gig… Most normal multimedia phones have this.. But oh nooo.. not aPPLE (yes, no starting capital, to emphasize how much i dislike it)

Ghehe – do check the link above :D

Where does all this unnecessary hatred comes from for cool gadgets like the Iphone? The article in the first post is very immature and I say that as a satisfied owner of a E70 phone, I think the guy has some real anger problems. Anyway, I think the big advantage of the Iphone will be the user interface, once it comes out here in Germany I will give it a try and see how it works.

Hey Ben.. have you read the articles about the amazing touchscreen that fails after 3 to 6 months of use? :D

Yea.. It looks cool but it outadvertizes all the good/better phones out there. And it is overprized. No hatred, just disfavour. The link above was just funny :D And yeah.. that dude has got some problems with current society.. he’s not a meak lamb and maybe a bit over the top… Funny nonetheless.

Ok.. the UserInterface… Hmmmm… Looks good, battery life? Anyway… probably is not a bad uhhhh.. communications device… But I like my phones simple for now… SMS and Phone.. that’s it. Camera is getting better… so maybe soon one with a 3+MP camera. But all those features… Do you really want to browse the web on such a crappy small display?

    Have pun.

It better come out in Ireland when it does in england…… But I’m with Vodafone and I don’t really like o2 but how bad…. I’ll prob end up not getting it at all… It’s all a bit over hyped… Just spend the same on a very good Nokia phone and you would be just as happy, if not more!

Steve Jobs is just a fucking bastard. He’s not satisfied with people buying his super-expensive shit, he also wants revenue from voice and data services. I would understand that if iPhone’s price will be 100 euro. What a fucking greedy bastard! I hope the next bomb will blow up this useless company.
