The Z Movie is a new skateboarding film from France based skateboarding crew Antiz. More skateboarding films are appearing on the scene recently which is great to see and this one looks pretty interesting. Whereas many of the skateboard films are shot and based around places like LA and other locations in the US, this one was shot in France. This means that there are some great locations with beautiful architecture in the background, which is something I definitely appreciate in a film like this. The entire thing is 91 minutes long (1h 31m) and its squeezed onto one 708mb CD, so you get a lot of skateboarding bang for your bandwidth buck (many films are around 700mb but only around 50 minutes, sometimes even less). Like with many skate films, there are segments in between the skating. The guys at Antiz decided to re-enact classic films (e.g The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Taxi Driver, Reservoir Dogs, Edward Scissorhands etc.), which is occasionally entertaining.
Quality: This is a DVDRip, so naturally the quality is very high. 936kb/s video bitrate and 123kb/s audio bitrate. 4:3 aspect ratio of course, so either crop it or squeeze down the AR to fit your widescreen better.
