Another phishing app targets Facebook
Facebook users are being urged to be wary of third-party apps after it was revealed hackers have launched another hoax program designed to steal social networker’s login details. Sophos says that the ‘F a c e b o o k – closing down!!!’ app sends bogus emails to users’ contacts, claiming they’ve been reported “for violating our Terms of Service”. The message continues: “This is your official warning! – Click here to find out why you were reported!”. However, any web user clicking the link will give hackers access to their profile and personal information. Clicking the link also forwards the fake message each user’s friends.
The warning comes just days after it was reported that a number of users of the social network were downloading the ‘Error Check System’ program that sent messages to a user’s friends claiming they had problems viewing their profile. Facebook has since removed the application, but there are reports that similar rogue applications with names such as ‘My account’ and ‘Reported For Rule Breaking’ are currently circulating on the popular social networking site. Am I the only one who thinks all these Facebook apps are completely useless? Seriously, 99% of them are just waste of time or an attempt to spam all your friends and then profit on ads placed in the app. I would be much happier with application-less Facebook.

Yea Facebook apps are quite annoying, that's like the %$#% e-mail that we recieve from friends that are saying like.. "if you don't send this e-mail to 15friends, msn will be closed.." these are just annoying.. I hope Facebook webmasters makes a better system to filter these applications!
Who the f00k is using that.. Face Book thing?
i dont have any friends so i dont use facebook
owned
@caveman. More than 175 million active users.
@2 nvr mind u are caveman. @1 yeah those apps are fukin so annoying hate em and feeli lyk beeting the ppl up who fwrd those emails as welll.aarrrghhhh
Facebook = Failbook
caveman and "lol", obviously you are new to the interweb, so let me give you a brief introduction to Facebook.
Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends
Facebook is for people who think they have friends real people with friends would go and hang out but with face book you just sit there and gossip about how you think things should be etc… face book = myspace elitist
The only people on my FB are RL friends who now live all around the world. It is my main form of contact with them.
Nixon, you're obviously about 12 & still at school with your 'friends' (or don't have any), therefore you won't need FB (yet – if ever).
Don't worry – you won't be missed…
see i was right i made you go on defense meaning i hit a nerve
Facebook is soooooooooooo cool. Almost as cool as Myspace and Highschool musical. Woohoo "Twilight is so cool!!" I love everything I am told to love..errr…I mean its so great and stuff.
Facebook has linked many people over the years and a great way of posting events for FREE! Easy way to get the word out instead of posting in a newspaper where some people don't read it and most often people are on facebook checking the latest things going on. I think the applications have gone overboard though and newbies are defenseless when the viruses hit facebook applications. I just like the idea of being able to find long lost friends who are living elsewhere but the applications SUCK! You have the luxury of refusing any application invites from ppl so that's a plus from facebook.
Someone tell me.
I clicked on the link(I got the message on facebook), so they have my info now?
I love failbook, it just proves to me that I am a failure at life because if I didn't have my 200+ "friends" on there I would have nothing to do all day because IRL I have no friends at all!! :'(
I so agree with #9 and use facebook the same way… to connect with real life friends who live too far to have drink out and chat. But yes, some people do use facebook as #7 says and it doesn't if it's a social networking site or something else. but seems like #7 you're an expert on the subject for describing it so well… and seems like #13 profiled you very well on his last sentence
Never been elsewhere, but there are too many crappy applications and phony groups on Facebook… I wish they would look into this matter rather than changing the user agreement.
wow tired lol.
"it doesn't if it's a social networking site" = "it doesn't matter for them if it's a social networking site or something else."
at least now we'll know which of our friends were dumb enough to click the link.
Best thing is to not add any information to begin with. just feed them a load of crap. All facebook is is a disguised market research program
facebook = myspace
but has less adds then myspace.
screw facebook, i want a FriendFace account
Yeah, FriendFace ftw!
