Another email from mVs
I received an email from group mavensSupplier (mVs) yesterday basically announcing their two new releases (Fred Claus, Balls of Fury) before they appeared at any site around the world. I haven’t read it until this morning though, so we couldn’t be first to tell you about this. Anyway, they just commented about certain other releases and our posts and added this nice note:
“We read your site daily. The comments are much funnier than VCDQ and much more diverse.”
It’s nice to know that some sceners care about RLSLOG…
I thought sceners didnt like P2P and “Websh**” like it says in the NFO’s

some of them obviously do, i know many other people from the scene who read rlslog daily. of course its trendy to say “we hate p2p” and stuff like that, but it’s basically impossible to split the core of scene and everything else from fxp boards, private trackers to public p2p sites at the end…
rlslog and mVs go together like bees and honey.
Off-topic: they should use x264 instead of XviD in DVDRip rlz. Maybe a scene group will read my post…
DVD9-rip of course, HD and BD is already x264.
Well, that’s probably why mVs ain’t on any real top site in europe.

Yeah, x264 releases would be better instead of the usual outdated Xvids.
I mean, a 700mb x264 or a same quality however smaller size version of movie releases would definitely work out better.
Instead of an Xvid at 700mb, I would personally prefer a 300/400mb x264.

x264 is probably the better codec, but I love how I can just burn the .avi files straight onto a CD to play in my Divx DVD player without any transcoding or conversion.
How many x264 DVD players are out on the market now?
And yeah.. the x264 idea is great, i realize the Scene has own rules to consider but they should keep with the technology..development is a key..Anyway thanks for the sceners for their work..what would we do without YOU ?!
The last post is not even worth commenting on.
But to others asking for the other alternative to Xvid. Most of us have TVs and dont spend our life in front of the computer. That means we can put the Xvid onto a CD or DVD if its too big and watch it on a standalone Mpeg4 DVD Player.
So I think the answer is Xvid is better for the majority rather than the minority.

personally i like VCDQ, its always good to have a backup plan.
i prefer RLSLog cos i dont have to be a member like VCDQ & others and most stuff mentioned on here is made easier to find
seems that the scene is slowly evolving (for want of a better word) p2p and now streams! a lot of stream sites seem to be popping up (or i just didnt notice) with scene releases.
Mvs FTW: well the reason why i havent read it earlier is i was drunk in the pub with some friends, it was friday man!
I dunno…..in some ways groups like Mvs kill piracy.
They relase so much crappy quality cams, where its totally slanted, blurry as hell, bits missing.that just makes people go, to hell with it, I will go to the pictures..
If groups were not in such a rush to release stuff, it would be a better quality scene…I will leave an example..

amen, VCDQ has fallen off… sad, because they used to be an amazing source. Now RLSLOG is more active, and the format is much better.

There is usually 1 line about quality, and nobody ever really posts what its like. A still picture does no justice.
At least at VCDQ, although slower, you get better feedback about any problems with it.

mkv is another option and can easily be converted and written to DVD’s using convertx

Yeah but we dont want to convert it, how many hastles do you have with sync and the rest.
I just want an Avi I can stick on a disk, and stick it in the DVD player.

@23, 24 (Rad, Xvids):
.mkv, or Матрёшка (”matryoshka”) is a file container format, not a codec. An .mkv can contain both x264 and XviD, if needed.
Please do not confuse the container with the content.
Future standalone hd-dvd/blu-ray players should be more than capable of playing x264 and wmv-vc1 content, but that time is not yet upon us. Be patient.

Back on topic, however silly it may be
I respect mVs as a group, even though 50% of their releases end up nuked.
They strive to be the first, and they usually succeed, and 50% of the time, the release is more than decent.
Take the Bourne Ultimatum DVDScr for example - it was oos for a minute or two, but look at the picture encoding quality! I downloaded MDP’s 2CD DVDRiP of the same movie later on, just because a screener is not an R1 rip. I was shocked when I discovered that mVs release actually looks better on 1 CD!
The only other group(s) that have similar encoding skills are DiAMOND and possibly SAPHiRE…
Affiliating with any of the scene groups is potentially dangerous for RLSLog, informing about Scene releases is gray area as it is, being an affil would make it black as a moonless starless night. If this wasn’t so, I would love to have mVs at our side…

Every scener cares about p2p since admiration amongst peers is what it’s all about in the end (otherwise they would be strictly courier sceners, no?).
IMNSHO, the 1337 sceners (^^) claiming to keep the old intact and exclusive are like emos claiming to be unique.
Respect to mVs for being proper cool and admitting that they are attention whores (like the rest of the scene), inspite of the crap that’ll probably be thrown their way (someone smell an upcoming flame and nukewar?) and respect to RLSLOG for their stuff as well.

the more stuff public and used, the more influence the populations will have on the industry
and it should be clear by this time we need to be able to have influence on the industry, otherwice they shape the world and our laws instead of working as normal corperations.
im for sure amazed how private corperations/organisations can control police mecanisms in other countries to do things that go against the very laws of those countries, aswell as shaping laws in other countries corrupting gouvernments and politics..
piracy is the ultimate balancer for these problems, its a protest that stings and forces adaptment, eventualy they will adapt in the right way, going with the flow instead of against it.

no harsh feelings ey.. if u dont like cam, dont download and wait until dvdrips or screeners are out.. cam sceners share for those that wants movies terribly but they will download the dvd version of it if they like the movie.. no point of waisting ur time of around 4months for a dvdrip to come out and knowing that u should see it earlier in cam version to see if is sux in the first place.. that is why people still need cams.. or perhaps u can go to the cinema urself to judge how good the movie is b4 downloading high quality version to it.. no harsh feelings here.. just my 2 cents.. go cam’ers and rlslog..

mVs releases are very good however they do come up with some crap release sometime. PUKKA is the real deal. Their work is mostly R5 and Screeners which are worth the download. Cams are becoming a waste of time. The scene can do without them.
