AMD unveils 780 Series graphics, 45nm CPUs
Advanced Micro Devices took advantage of the CeBIT spotlight to launch its 780 Series graphics chipset Tuesday in Hanover, Germany, while also unveiling the chipmaker’s first CPUs manufactured with the 45-nanometer process. On a busy day for the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company, AMD also released a new Athlon dual-core desktop processor, the 45-watt Athlon x2 4850E. The 780 Series, promising an “additive effect” with the addition of more video cards thanks to AMD’s Hybrid Graphics technology, launches with an entry-level product, the 780V (ATI Radeon HD 3100) and a more powerful chipset for the mainstream client, the 780G (ATI Radeon HD 3200). The boards are tailor-made for Microsoft’s Vista operating system, with DirectX 10 support a major selling point, as are support for CrossFireX and the energy efficiency benefits of AMD’s industry leading 55nm process technology for GPUs.

More than 25 motherboards featuring the chipsets from OEM partners such as ASUS, GIGABYTE, Micro-Star International and Elitegroup Computer Systems are available as of the launch date, according to AMD, which also boasted that some 30 system builders across the chipmaker’s tiered channels had signed on to build and ship 780 Series-based PCs starting in the second quarter. Early reviews have been largely favorable, ranging from HardwareGeeks’ rave review to the Tech Report’s comprehensive testing of the 780G, which tempers its positive findings with questions about AHCI problems carried over to the SB700 south bridge from the old SB600. A 780G-Athlon 4850e combination will fall into the $180 to $220 price range, according to AMD. Setups featuring the entry-level 780V chipset will cost even less.

nice info thanks
Good news.
duz dis meen dat ay ar plai mai craisis un mai macbook?
yawn
Ohmagawd, AMD’s got white ninjas making CPUs for them now? Intel is so doomed!
Great news, the more competition between them and Intel, the better for us.
AMD! the chooice for white ninjas!
guys dont make fun of the guy in the white ninja suit, he has cancer.
yes same ip, stfu
lmao @ #7
however..
intel cpu’s >*
amd gpu’s >*
wtf?? amd gpus >* ??
What you’ve been smoking? And may I have some?
AMD owns ATI, you know…
I think Intel plans on releasing a photo of a china dude in black spandex holding one of their super chips.
AMD putting out 45nm CPUs is very good news. I’ve always been an AMD guy over Intel. Hopefully, with more work, this puts them back on top.
GOOD NEWS …. LOVE AMD/ATI.
ROFL @ 5. Pegasus
It’s 45W thermal power proc , die is still 65nm.
The new Shinobi CPU?
It’s not a ninja, it’s a chef and he’s trying to cook up something decent for AMD to release.
Chef, Ninja, whatever…they fail.
This isn’t wowing anyone. Its another in the line of what will in the end be a poor showing. The money is in the high end gaming market, and AMD does nothing to even come close to cornering that with this release.
Im still running an AMD cpu, and Id like nothing more than to see the kind of price war that is happening in the gpu market. It wont happen until AMD fires some people and reformulates their business strategy.
Figures AMD have Muslims trying to make CPU’s now.
AMD continue to make excellent value products with only slightly under par performance, however their price still means more performance for you money.
@ 19: Racism is a plague, you are infected.
@ 20: Maybe you should check your own infection, muslim is not a race.
ADM my love, i hope ull find your winning tickets.
even though intel has some pretty good advancement.
may u live forever AMD.
@22 agreed!
Who’s the noob that used Imageshack for the photo? They’ve been on a warez community blacklist for quite some time.
@24
True…. but this technically isn’t a warez site.
Oh and on the topic, I hope AMD(ATI) comes out with something special soon in the GFX dept. I’m an Nvidia Fanboy all the way, however if Nvidia dominates too much there will be less drive to push forward with better tech and higher prices…. so go AMD :S
hey’ what happend?? why did imageshack banned RLSLOG?
gg AMD
