Al Jazeera Shooting the Messenger PDTV XviD-DiSSENT

Looks like I have found a really ‘underground’ documentary here. It’s from the AlJazeera network, and DiSSENT gives us the opportunity to watch it. In a nutshell, basically documents how times have changed for the lives of media reporters in war zones. The invading militaries of the Iraq invasion 2003 censored the media by only showing them what they wanted them to report. And then, going as far to prove that journalists in conflict zones are not regarded as impartial – but as targets to eliminate. More at homepage below. I welcome more great documentaries to come from DiSSENT.

AlJazeera is hardly a credible news source.

The assertion of the documentary that governments try to control information is hardly novel or revolutionary.

More to the point it should be understood that AlJazeera is a Government ‘news’ channel funded and controlled by Quatari government. A far from democratic government that like all other governments has an agenda.

The media, in general, is about pleasing themselves. Some journalists truly do care about reporting the “truth”…but that is also the truth as THEY see it. It’s really impossible to report the news without a particular agenda. How you present the facts, what facts you present, and with what emphasis determines how the “truth” is perceived…or TO BE perceived.

Yeah, Fox News and CNN are the problem, and Al Jazeera is the objective solution lol There is money to be had by presenting a particular view.

In case you live in a cave without TV reception, here is a link about Scott McClellan’s new book on the Bush propaganda machine. He also bashes the media for not questioning the administrations actions.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5yeg1lDh6A

Katie Couric is the only journalist to come forward and acknowledge that she personally got pressure from CBS executives to not report negative news about the Bush administration.

It’s ironic that the current response from those people who live in the country which illegally invaded iraq, on a lie which has so far cost a million lives, now say it’s ok that their media tells lies cause everyone else’s does too. That kinda begs the question. What other country has Quatar illegally invaded?

What lies do you know al jazeera to have told? Have they ever falsely accused another country of terrorism or having weapons of mass destruction?
amerikans claim that al jazeera tells lies yet most have never seen the network. freedom of speech doesn’t include al jazeera who have been banned from most audiences in amerika. everywhere else they are shown peeps don’t accuse them of lying, only those who have never seen them.

The misinformation goes on. especially when those people talk about palestine, a country they know absolutely nothing of but have paid billions to ensure it’s citizens live miserably and die worse.
Hamas, the democratically elected government of Palestine, lets many news teams roam freely throughout Gaza. The BBC had a correspondent permanently based there and a mate of mine worked there as a fox cameraman for a time until one of the organised crime families who the israelis allow to ’smuggle’ in goods into Gazaa, tried to improve relationships with their israeli benefactors by kidnapping the fox crew for a short time
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Fox_journalists_kidnapping
and the BBC reporter for a very long time. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/world/2007/alan_johnston/default.stm
After that most western news media ‘pulled out’ of gaza and now try and report from jerusalem. The israelis close the border into Gazaa when anything that they don’t want reported on is happening.
The al jazeera footage doesn’t matter even though most of the time it comes from eaxactly the same crews as cnn, and fox hire, but so many mugs in the west believe that al jazeera don’t tell the truth, the crooks
    http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull&cid=1192380760608
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4579156.stm
who run israel know that al jazeera can show as much genocide of palestinians as they want but it won’t amerikans from paying billions to them because the people would rather believe white lies than arab truths.

Man…A lot of anger coming from some of you guys.
Most americans don’t watch Al Jazeera anyway, I’m guessing mostly because of 3 things

1: America basicaly banned aL jAZEERA
2: It’s called Al Jazeera, to americans it might as well have been called the Terrorist Channel.
3 Al Jazeera actually reports news not opinion (yeah, I watch Fox News, it’s like one long soap opera to me), a journalistic practice that is just WAY too different for Americans.

  61. RXP

@60 they are all propaganda, the printed media is more subtle in their subterfuge.

Al Jaz International is a good source of info. But you also need to turn on your thinking cap when listening to some of their reports, ’cause they do cut and paste CNN, BBC crap word for word.

The only way to sort good from bad media, is to get more pieces of the puzzle.

“Want to actually know something, read newspapers, magazines and some f***ing books”

The books are edited by the same p-eople that control all other forms of mass media. There actually is an english speaking Al-Jazeera that airs in the states btw.

If anyone was wondering, that picture used in this post is from an Al-Jazeera camera man taking footage of Israeli troop actions when they shot at his clearly marks TV/NEWS jeep with banned weapons (a tank shell that splinters into hundreds of little razor sharp projectiles.) Killing the report and 2 passing children instantly.

This only happened a little while back.

Good luck posting this stuff Mr.X, people like me want to see it, the rest will american bash til the sun goes down

to all you ‘books are better than tv’ idiots – tv is actually more informative and credible because its harder to make up/fiddle with moving pictures and sound – newspapers on the other hand can print anything they like just by moving their fingers and they’ve been getting away with it for years.

i dont watch, listen or read to any news anyway, sometimes i’ll hear a snatch of something on the radio at work but i try to ignore it.

It’s incredible how people out right bash Al-Jazeera with out even seeing their work. “Kill the messenger” isn’t an attack on America or it’s values. It’s a video that shows how independent journalism is under assault during coverage of war and other violent conflicts. It shows how journalist have been deliberately targeted for their coverage of conflicts by both opposing sides. Americas role in the video is very light compared to what others are seen as doing throughout the film. The film focuses on preserving freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and most of all, the freedom to live. Please don’t kill the message and don’t kill the messenger!

ROFL @ 7 “AlJazeera is hardly a credible news source.” …….

DUDE ALJAZEERA IS the #1 network in credibility, but there problem is that they show the ppl what really going on in the middle east, and what kind of crimes the US and Israel is committing in this region on a daily basis. why do you think they got bombed in iraq ??/ because the showed footage of the soo called private contractors planting bombs in the cars that they where checking and made it look like a suicide bomber did it, to spark a civil war!!!! …. they shed the light on the 3000 children in jails (children under the age of 14), which in the same time it happens that all female suicide bombers happened to have a kid in that jail !!!….ALjazeera is hated because its working against the US’s allies such as Egypt, Saudi arabia, Israel and Jordan which are the real cause of all the terrorism!. DIDNT saudi arabia support the Fath al Islam group which is an alqaeda sect ? … they also had the latest american weapons !!!! hmmm , and they happened to only fight those working against the US interest in Lebanon, they got raped :) …. DUDE read some history get educated on what really led this region to this state.

I would have had more respect for him and it would be more believable if he would have resignd the very first time he had a major problem, instead of keeping the cushy job till an election year and then saying I quit. And if Perky Katie wants to be believed, then why has not one of the so-called talking heads that say they were pressured, not named anyone who supposedly did it? The reason…is it NEVER HAPPENED. If this supposedly happened and can happen, then why did it not happen with past presidents? You want to believe that BS, then fine I have a hole in the ground in AZ I will sell you cheap. Till I have names, it is BS.

@53/55 You need to pull your head out of that dark place and stop personally inpsecting your colon. Illegally invaded? Are you stupid or what? Have you ever read UN Resolution 1441? It gave strict guidlines on what Saddam should do or be removed. He refused to follow and was removed. Iraq was invaded on full authority of the UN and a full vote of the US Congress. Nothing illegal about that except to people like you. And Hamas thinks nothing of bombing schools and hospitals and dance clubs where innocent people go. If they had any balls at all they would come out directly and face Israel one on one. Since they like hiding in Mosques and apartment buildings and such andkilling from there, it clearly shows what actual cowards they are and whatkind of person YOU are for supporting crap like this!

No, and just as our the Colonial Army fought with different and guerrilla tactics against Britain, those that feel threatened by our economic, political, and cultural hegemony will do whatever they can to stand a chance.

Ah, how refreshing to see that things never change lol We’ve got posts that run the full gamut from praise the U.S. (not that many and not so hardcore) to “all news sites are crap” to the U.S. are “illegal invaders” with AJ showing the “truth.” At least Commie Pinko admits to being what he is…someone who has no business living in the States.

Look at all these erudite posts from people who REALLY know what’s going on and most assuredly haven’t been brainwashed lol

    GO PETRAEUS!

The US/UK are illegal invaders. That is uncontroversial. Just as the Soviets were in Afganistan.

This is a very good documentary. It’s not about picking sides or simply putting spin on different topics. “This documentary on the deliberate killing and intimidation of journalists in conflict zones, examines how international reporters became targets.” this really explains it. It shows how Journalist are being targeted for thinking independently through out the world no matter what conflict.. worth watching…

I know i am going to be butchered here for saying this. First i have to reveal that i am an officer in the IDF reserve army, just so you know the truth. Second, you should ask yourself what you would have done if it was you in the tasnk and you a reporter filming. my guess is that you wouldn’t pull the trigger. this is what i would also do and this is what every IDF soldier would do. i know it is hard to believe with all the media coverage but the IDF is composed of regular people. regular people do not other shoot innocent people. if you examine the movie you can see that the car is hidden behind bushes and the sign was probably missed. in addition, many hamas activist document their activities. moreover, in this distance, you don’t always see what the guy is holding and it might look like a missile launcher. i know you are probably thinking that if you are not sure you shouldn’t shoot. this is true to all theoretical situations unless you are the one in the tank who might die if you decide to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. i know that we are doing something wrong if the palestinians are willing to commit suicide and deliberately hurt our innocent civilians. but i know for sure that no one aimed at that reporter knowinf he was one. someone once said that if you don’t listen to the media you remain uninformed, but if you do you remain misinformed. everyone has an agenda.

There are some good posts here. This is what our news should be like in the U.S. – Different point of views. When I watch our news here it is noticeably one sided and filtered. I get insulted to the point where I don’t watch the news on t.v.

It tells us how the whole Islamic fundamentalism thing started and why America went to so many wars!
The Americans went after Saddam beacuse an inmate at gitmo said Saddam had nukes.
The inmate was being tortured and to escape this,he just blurted it out!LOL!!
Its a 3 part docu.Grab it soon before it runs out of seeds!

Al Jazeera news centre on the 3rd floor, US/Iraq central command on the 2nd. Al Jezeera is a joke how can it claim to be independent from the US perspective when Qatar itself is a US military colony like the Philipiennes used to be. Central command for the Iraq war planning is located in Qatar and hosts one of the largest military fleet in the region. The problem with news media in the US is that its Jewish owned. How could the US not have known about 9/11.

All these stations have their own political agendas – thanks to the knowledge of propaganda, none of these sources are trust worthy or factual – end of arguement.

    @96, This aint your country.

Sorry to wake you from the dream you’re in, but it is the Jews country for thousand of years. The Jews have just reclaimed it from the Turkish and the then the British control. And archeological findings just strengthen this claim.
And no, there is no excuse for blowing up children, women and elders civilians into dozens of tiny pieces or firing rockets and mortar shells onto civilian targets like kinder gardens and then go dancing on roof tops. It is just an act of barbarity.

For this post, Al-Jazeera is far from being neutral, farther then CNN and Fox News. Arab media is recruited, as Muhamad A’Dura incident has show. First it was cast on IDF by the Palestinians and the media, but after an investigation carried by a German TV station and the IDF (SEPARATELY!), the claims where dismissed. Moreover, it was a Palestinian armed man who killed the kid.
It was a taste of Al-Jazeera and Arab media “neutrality”.

I love the Americans that call Al-Jazeera anti-American and pro Al-Qaeda, you are just like Osama bin Laden, does that make you feel good? He claims Al-Jazeera is pro-western and pro-zionist. So which is it you dumb yanks? Are you just like Osama, or are you wrong? I know the real answer is BOTH. Hahaha
