Looks like I have found a really ‘underground’ documentary here. It’s from the AlJazeera network, and DiSSENT gives us the opportunity to watch it. In a nutshell, basically documents how times have changed for the lives of media reporters in war zones. The invading militaries of the Iraq invasion 2003 censored the media by only showing them what they wanted them to report. And then, going as far to prove that journalists in conflict zones are not regarded as impartial – but as targets to eliminate. More at homepage below. AlJazeera is hardly a credible news source.
The assertion of the documentary that governments try to control information is hardly novel or revolutionary.
More to the point it should be understood that AlJazeera is a Government ‘news’ channel funded and controlled by Quatari government. A far from democratic government that like all other governments has an agenda.
More credible than Fox or CNN.

The media, in general, is about pleasing themselves. Some journalists truly do care about reporting the “truth”…but that is also the truth as THEY see it. It’s really impossible to report the news without a particular agenda. How you present the facts, what facts you present, and with what emphasis determines how the “truth” is perceived…or TO BE perceived.
Yeah, Fox News and CNN are the problem, and Al Jazeera is the objective solution lol There is money to be had by presenting a particular view.

Al Jaz International is a good source of info. But you also need to turn on your thinking cap when listening to some of their reports, ’cause they do cut and paste CNN, BBC crap word for word.

If anyone was wondering, that picture used in this post is from an Al-Jazeera camera man taking footage of Israeli troop actions when they shot at his clearly marks TV/NEWS jeep with banned weapons (a tank shell that splinters into hundreds of little razor sharp projectiles.) Killing the report and 2 passing children instantly.

to all you ‘books are better than tv’ idiots – tv is actually more informative and credible because its harder to make up/fiddle with moving pictures and sound – newspapers on the other hand can print anything they like just by moving their fingers and they’ve been getting away with it for years.

It’s incredible how people out right bash Al-Jazeera with out even seeing their work. “Kill the messenger” isn’t an attack on America or it’s values. It’s a video that shows how independent journalism is under assault during coverage of war and other violent conflicts. It shows how journalist have been deliberately targeted for their coverage of conflicts by both opposing sides. Americas role in the video is very light compared to what others are seen as doing throughout the film. The film focuses on preserving freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and most of all, the freedom to live. Please don’t kill the message and don’t kill the messenger!

This is a very good documentary. It’s not about picking sides or simply putting spin on different topics. “This documentary on the deliberate killing and intimidation of journalists in conflict zones, examines how international reporters became targets.” this really explains it. It shows how Journalist are being targeted for thinking independently through out the world no matter what conflict.. worth watching…
I know i am going to be butchered here for saying this. First i have to reveal that i am an officer in the IDF reserve army, just so you know the truth. Second, you should ask yourself what you would have done if it was you in the tasnk and you a reporter filming. my guess is that you wouldn’t pull the trigger. this is what i would also do and this is what every IDF soldier would do. i know it is hard to believe with all the media coverage but the IDF is composed of regular people. regular people do not other shoot innocent people. if you examine the movie you can see that the car is hidden behind bushes and the sign was probably missed. in addition, many hamas activist document their activities. moreover, in this distance, you don’t always see what the guy is holding and it might look like a missile launcher. i know you are probably thinking that if you are not sure you shouldn’t shoot. this is true to all theoretical situations unless you are the one in the tank who might die if you decide to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. i know that we are doing something wrong if the palestinians are willing to commit suicide and deliberately hurt our innocent civilians. but i know for sure that no one aimed at that reporter knowinf he was one. someone once said that if you don’t listen to the media you remain uninformed, but if you do you remain misinformed. everyone has an agenda.
There are some good posts here. This is what our news should be like in the U.S. – Different point of views. When I watch our news here it is noticeably one sided and filtered. I get insulted to the point where I don’t watch the news on t.v.
I recommend this documentary to everybody, lot of intresting info in this piece so check it out. We need more relases of this type of shows in the future.

Al Jazeera news centre on the 3rd floor, US/Iraq central command on the 2nd. Al Jezeera is a joke how can it claim to be independent from the US perspective when Qatar itself is a US military colony like the Philipiennes used to be. Central command for the Iraq war planning is located in Qatar and hosts one of the largest military fleet in the region. The problem with news media in the US is that its Jewish owned. Do you really think that after watching 1 hour movie biased movie, you really understand it all, ah?
It wasn’t too bad for the Palestinians till they have started the 1st Intifada. They forced Israel to put blocks because their act of terrors. Every week their was a suicidal bombing which killed dozens of innocent Israeli civilians.. The Palestinians just tried to exploit every single humanitarian act to the good of terror. Driving bombs and rockets in ambulances. Disguise woman as pregnant while they actually had bombs under their cloths. They are using hospitals, mosques and schools as shelter. Not while ago, they sent a 12 years old with a bomb on his body to commit suicide on Israeli soldiers. The Palestinians are using the their own civilians in cynical way, and go cry to world why Israeli kills those civilians.
As I’ve said before, don’t take all those movies as is. The Palestinians are masters at manipulating the truth in front of the media, many of their claims where false. The Israelis has caught them in too many harsh lies to believe a word that is coming out of their mouth.
Do you really think that killing around 4,500 Palestinians, mostly armed men, in 8 years of war is a genocide? Really? Don’t believe in everything they sell ya, think for yourself according to the facts. Forgot to mention that it is a Shaid’s home? Israel don’t do those acts as revenge or for fun. Yes, Israel has demolished Shahid’s houses as a discouragement. The thinking behind that was that his own family would stop him from doing his act of terror if they knew their home would be demolished. As it turns out to be a infertile, Israel has stopped this. As for now, there are exceptional cases that Israel demolishes buildings that are used as shelters for terrorists.

just to make things right, i watched the movie at the link you sent, the first movie is of police evacuating a jewish family before giving territories to the palestinians – you can actually see the yamaka of the man who is being evacuated. also you can see that the first part (couple of seconds) of the film is of a ruined house and then you can see a whole room intact with furniture where the woman (a israeli woman) fights against being evacuated.In addition, nobody sends the police to demolish house – the army does that. the last part of the movie is again a ruined Palestinian house and the picture of the soldier firing seems to be taken from an entirely different scenario. This entire movie is false propaganda. you just have to think for yourself and pay attention to the details. By the way, the only houses destroyed were houses of terrorists who committed terror acts against civilian population.
I also watched the first part of Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land. This propaganda show is wrong on so many levels i can’t even begin to address them each. It is simply a Palestinian propaganda show trying to tell you not to listen to any media data which is not pro-palestinian. Again, i am not telling you that israel is not sometimes wrong, sometimes makes mistakes and that the palestinian people do not suffer. they do, they suffer a lot. The problem is how to end this. no side is completely 100% right. This conflict needs to end soon. for both sides sake. But this piece is definitely a total propaganda piece with no added value to understanding the real situatuation. you can’t explain reality in a 30 minutes show. or a 60 minutes one. especially when all the people interviewed are one sided. if you want the truth you really should show both sides. This piece does exactly what it accuses all the major channels of doing.

The kill ratio before the first Intifada was 25 or so Palestinians to 1 Israeli. After the intifada it was closer to 3:1. That’s when the press started caring when too many important people died.

just mention one point that you think is correct and i will address it. i am not tracking anything. i usually avoid these debates here in the site because they are very aggressive and usually i don’t think that any good will come of participating except getting attacked personally (”jewbags” “f*cking jews”).
i am not sure if you are from the occupied territories but if you are and this is the cause for all your hatred, you should know that many people in israel want the conflict to be over and want the palestinians to have a country of their own. i know, as an israeli, that every palestinian killed is not a solution but a cause to get 10 others who were more inclined to peace to change their views to the extreme. every palestinian dead is bad for me, for all of us. it only perpetuates the conflict.
If you are not from here and all the data you rely on comes from the media and from the internet, then i say that you should look at the facts more carefully. most of it is distorted.
Also all these posts on watch X documentary and you’ll change your mind. That’s crazy. Sit down, take a look at the historical record and apply the moral principle of universality. It is always important to apply the principle of universality (golden rule).

the fact the many israelis want the palestinians to have a country and end this conflict is important since it affects the elections in Israel. you can see that ehud olmert, with all his faults, is trying to engage in a negotiation with abbas and with Syria. making peace is not a simple thing. there are also many who oppose it on both sides. not the idea of peace but the way of getting to it and what they are willing to compromise.
You can also point out that Hamas and Hizbolla declare on every occasion that they want the entire country of israel and are not willing to accept the solution of two states. What am i supposed to think the palestinians really want if hamas was elected in the gaza strip and this is what they believe. i am willing to make compromises but i also want to live – which as i see it is not an option from the side of hamas and hizbolla. i really want you to mention a point in the movie that i can address. this seems to be the only place where you an i can talk.

Jews don’t expect Arabs to love them. We see what kind of poison Arab people are fed from babyhood. We see all those baby kids armed with toy rifles and dressed like Shahids with toy bombs on them. well, all i am saying is that no extreme point of view is the correct one. most people on both sides want peace. they just don’t agree on the way of getting there.
The media are all biased. you can show an article about the conflict but whether you put pictures of suffering palestinians or suffering israelis, sets the tone of the article itself even if you don’t change the spoken audio. This is done in all the networks. i hope that some time soon you can some back to a palestinian state if you want (but i hear australia is a much better place to live in).
