nero indexing service can be disabled via Control Panel -Administartive tools-services-NMIndexingService (select startup type-disabled).Nothing new with the keygen.I use the one from Beta Master released a while ago,with same serials.

So is patent activation fully cracked now or not? Becasue i have downloaded about 6 versions and none of them are fully cracked. The first time i downloaded nero 8 nero vision was brilliant (comepared to nero vision 4) but after a month the patent activation kicked in and i couldnt use it anymore. Every other download of nero 8 then would work from the offset so there must be keys left in the reg and even after idone a reg clean or manual browse the reg it still wont remove them!
So anyone, tell me if this fuking app is cracked and working in vista! lol

For the people who think its bloatware….. try using the CUSTOM install button… instead of the typical.
Am using nero 7 and it is way less bloated than 8 just had to take off the extra’s wish Nero would do subtitle additions though

If you mean just copying or backing up media DVDs, try Magic DVD ripper.
I just finally updated from Nero 7 to Nero 8 because I was finding some of my recent dloaded .avi files would abort during a dvd burn project.. Don’t know why…but when I upgraded that problem was fixed… I do agree that Nero is a bit heavy.. but I am loyal user to it. I tried Ashampoo and I just couldn’t get the right feel of it…Oh well.. To each his own, right?!
if you need to convert avi to DVD format, use convertxtodvd. The best program out there for simple conversion.
For those of you whining about Nero being bloated maybe you should pull your head out of your arse when installing and leave out the functions you don’t need.

XP or Vista, with the word “Home” in its version name will not have secpol.msc, gpedit.msc, etc. In this case, you will have to use a firewall to block all traffic to ports 52662 and 64697
If you have an application that runs on these as well, this will make it stop working.
If you notice anything unusual, delete the rule.
How-to:
- Go to Start, Run, enter: “secpol.msc”, press enter.
- Rightclick “IP Security Policies on local computer”
- “All Tasks” -> “Import Policies” -> Choose neroblocker.ipsec
- Rightclick the new rule (”Nero blocker”), and hit “Assign”. Close.

ok screw this nero. InCD just locks my machine up when I use it.
ya know… i dont like what they have been doing to nero any more than all you who have switched out, but the simple fact is that Nerovision is far superious in ease of use, and compression for burning DVD movies, thats why i use nero. ashampoo is really good for most applications but it is inferior to nerovision… If i could have JUST nerovision and none of the rest i would jump on that in a sec and use alcohol for my burning.
Hi- I’m just coding a burning program now - it will have photo editing , website creation, junk file removal, registry backup, firewall, anti-spyware, disk defrag, video player, disk imaging, virtual drives, driver backup and instant messaging….so far it sits at 8.9 GB but I think I can add a few more features….any suggestions?

@49 Agree. That’s the sad thing about Nero, it IS bloatware in the extreme but Nero Vision happens to be (in my opinion) the best DVD authoring software on the market. Ease of use, excellent compression and highly customizable menu’s contribute to this fact.
I’ll give this version a spin but not holding my breath, 8.x seems to have very strong strong anti-patent protection. I messed around with it for hours last time, removing 4731892045310 random Nero references from the registry etc but it would still ask for registration after 28 days.

hmm seems to me in previous versions you did a search for neropatentactivation.exe (hidden file) or something along those lines and deleted it and maybey one other thing in that same folder cant remember i actually bought nero at school fo a discount after using it free for years ;>) as has been stated before nero vision is great for simle one click encoding though i only use it for recodes transcoding as sometimes i miss the mark when calculationg

I used the keygen and the Nero Activation crack posted on here and it still invalidates everything when you put the date a month ahead!
1. Install NERO in demo mode. Reboot.
2. Go to Nero Toolkit–>Nero Control Center
3. Un-check for updates
4. Go to License
5. Remove DEMO key
6. Click ‘Add’ and run keygen. Copy and paste key for Nero 8 Ultra Edition.
7. Click ‘Add’ and get key for Patent Activation and copy
8. Click ‘Add’ and get key for SecurDisc
I can’t remember the “exact” name for the last steps, but you can figure it out. I’ve installed on 3 different systems and no problems with activation.
This wont work?? I have used the keygen + also not connecting 2 the internet wont let you burn anyway. In older versions you could cancel the activation WITH the internet off.. and it would let you burn. This one wont even let you past that… PLEASE SOMEONE HELP US

Does anyone know if this new version of Nero 8 works with DVDshrink in Vista - and by that, I mean the “autoburn”. People have had all sorts of problems with DVDshrink and Nero8.
Any other suggestions for a 1-click copy and burn solution for DVDs - something that can compress a DVD-9 to a single layer in a similar way to DVDshrink.
I know imageburn works, but I want a one click solution.

since nero7 & 8 it will install lots of directshow filters (splitters, codecs) into your system, it will interfere with other media players for mpeg2/mp4/h.264/aac/ac3 playback, i’d rather avoid install nero at all.

Is Nero compatible using DTS? I just found out that ConvertX3 will not burn files with dts audio. Actually it burns it but when played in the dvd player there is no audio. If Nero will not convert it does anyone know what will?

for all of you having problems with the patent activation
1. make sure yor pc is offline
2. click start then type msconfig then click on startup tab disable nerocheck.exe
3.go to c:/programfiles/commonfiles/nero/shared/nl3 delete nero patentactivation.exe file from there.
4. run nero go to nero control panel and disable check for updates option
