I usually don’t venture outside of music releases, but this was an event (and subsequently release) that I’ve been looking forward to, so I’ll go ahead and make an exception here.  Affliction: Banned aired last night on PPV, and is one of the most stacked MMA cards of all time.  With money behind it like Donald Trump, this, more than any company before it, has a genuine shot at challenging UFC for the pinnacle Mixed Martial Arts promotion.

    @56 – You realize that Nogueira is the UFC Heavyweight champ? The Nogueira you’re talking about and who was fighting on this card is his twin brother, who has never fought in the UFC before. Also, Sylvia accepted this fight because he couldn’t refuse the money offer. He got far better payment than he would’ve in the UFC. The heavyweight talent pool outside the UFC is bigger now, than the talent pool inside it. Besides that, Fedor has already defeated the current UFC Heavyweight champ twice.

    This seems to be the “New version” of PrideFC with the same commentators & ring intact. It was cool seeing the real announcing Buffer do his copywritten “… Let’s get ready to rumble!!!” and really cool to see “Big” John McCarthey step out of his ref outfit & be the interviewer & commentator. I wonder if Zuffa gave him a piece of this since he’s the biggest name in MMA refs?

    Why would Zuffa give John McCarthy a piece of Affliction? A better question, how could Zuffa give McCarthy a piece of a company they have nothing to do with?

    Affliction is clothing line that has nothing to do with the UFC.

    Also John McCarthy has been retired from reffing MMA since December of last year. All he does now is do commentary along with running his gym out in Vegas.

    dream stage(pridefc old owners) have started another fight organization in japan its called dream. just fyi if anybody didnt know. elitexc is not that bad. my friend/instructor fights in the ufc in the lightweight division. yeah thank you release log , can wee see some more like k-1 , Ufc , elitexc , dream , wec, that would be awesome if you started posting this stuff..

    Megadeath was playing to about 20 kids who gave a crap, there were a million production errors, and I just feel like I was watching an amateur version of Pride.
    Seriously, there were some good fights like A. Orlofsky (sp?), but that was a one trick pony. That was every person who felt slighted by Zuffa ganging up to put on a big show. It can’t keep being that quality of fights, and the production sucks already. Don’t look for a bright future there.
