Well, what do you think Camera Raw does? Everything done inside camera raw is stored insisde the file's metadata, they share the same engine.

If you have already have Photoshop CS4, there's no need for it really. Camera raw for manipulating negatives and Bridge for organizing.

And since you mention photoshop Gurus, check out what Deke McClelland has to say about light room with a google search or something.

If you're running a legitimate business, it's a waste of money and not a very smart investment to pay for aa lightroom license when you already have the equivalent software bundled for free with photoshop. If you're using a pirate copy, then yeah, why the hell not, go for it.

You are totally wrong.
I'm a professional photographer, and Lightroom changed my digital workflow forever. I used it since beta, and bought the software straight away.

The awesomeness of this program lays in the non-destructive workflow, wich means that everything you do to process your picture won't touch your negative at all.

Nowadays 80% of my workflow happens in LR and 20% in Photoshop.

One of the biggest Photoshop guru's Matt K. has a wonderfull blog with a lot of free tutorials about it.

Don't think of it like those photo editers. This doesn't have any brushes etc so you can't draw anything. It just has various sliders for adjusting all sorts of levels in the photos.

It's a very good app for quickly fixing photos.

Photoshop is bloated? I think CS4 takes up a whole 400mb. Pretty much any PC built in the last 7 years, at least, should be able to handle a version of Photoshop.

The CPU use depends on the taks you are giving it.

How does this compare to Paint Shop Pro, XnView and the other photo viewers/editors out there? Always passed on Photoshop before because of the resource intensive CPU usage and bloated file size.

Anyone (who's actually used these)?
