Fuzzkap: You know, there are already a bunch of applications out there where the toolbars automatically adjust to what you're doing... consider what happens when you change your tool in Photoshop... but the menus are still there, so you get the best of both worlds: you get a context-sensitive toolbar AND you get menus in fixed locations so you can take advantage of muscle-memory. They didn't need to break menus to get dynamic toolbars.

What bothers me the most is that everyone else is going to start copying the ribbon, like they copy everything else Microsoft does, good or bad. I mean look at word processors. None of the current crop of word processors support hierarchically structured documents, because they're all trying to be compatible with Word, and the Word file format doesn't support nested divisions.

Ribbon makes tasks much harder. I mean ya, you click on a table or a chart, and the menu dynamically updates to the table menu, but why would you want that? And sure, the shortcuts make it so you don't have to use the mouse as much, but that's just crazy, I love slowing things down with a mouse. Personally i think all the features of the new office should be removed, i mean i can't keep up...

If the above describes you, then either stop using technology, or get used to things changing! Ribbon is a far stronger menu system then previous versions of office.

Now that I got that off my chest, despite that i think this would be a bad decision for most to dl, thx for the info and the link Nyr. Some people really will find this useful since they won't change(mostly older people in my experience), and at least they can use other Office 2007 features.

For those that hate the ribbon but don't want to use this software. Even MS realise that some people hate change. Personally I love 2007 :)

Simple solution - If you don't like the new ribbon stick to office 2003.
As far as I know even some of my least computer savy frens have said that at first they had a tough time but after a while they do tend to find the new ribbon much more systematic to use, and now wouldn't go back to the old one.
But sometimes you do really get stuck with a few commands (wher e is Help/About)

LOL, what a strange app.

I want my version to be like Word 1.0. I remember having to type HTML like commands to get bolds, italics etc. All on a black screen with white text. That was so much more efficient.

Well I love the new ribbon but I can't understand why they simply didn't include the option to turn it off and use the old menus? How hard would it have been to create an option to use the new "Ribbon" menu system or the previous Office system menu style?

Microsoft spent 99% of their time with Office 2007 working on the ribbon that the least they could do is implement a damn option to disable/enable. Anyone else feel the same way? I only think this sine my wife and a few others simply cannot use the new style no matter how long they have used it. If Microsoft can include Windows Classic theme they can create an Office Classic theme.

This also bothers me with Vista as they should have a Windows XP theme as they have the new Aero Vista and even the Windows Classic, WTF? L-A-Z-Y!

This app is what Microshaft should have done in the first place.

Of course there is going to be people who like the old menus that they have been using since day one more than the new ribbon system. As well as vice versa.

They should have the option to use either or. This app allows for that. It just makes the old menus part of the ribbon.
My wife made me uninstall the new office until I found this app.

Of course you could always use open office instead it can work with ms office documents.
