Activata iFreeMem v2.5.1 Mac OSX-CFF

CFF released updated version of this Mac application. Activata iFreeMem as will help you to free up your memory and run apps smoothly and faster on your Mac.

Description:

iFreeMem free’s memory from the in-memory cache that accumulates with every file or application read from hard-disk. The cache is good, but it can become cluttered with files you don’t even need cached anymore that take up precious RAM. Maximum free memory can sometimes be better than half your memory filled with old cached files.

If you are in the middle of using an application and the system becomes unresponsive for several seconds it could be the memory manager recovering cache memory for your application. iFreeMem optimise feature is a quick and easy alternative to either a reboot or RAM upgrade to get defragmented free memory.

You will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of free memory you will get after running iFreeMem. Then open more applications at once without any delays.

    Hmmm … how useful is this? I would assume that OSX have superb memory management features that would make such a program redundant.

    I use it from time to time and it seems to speed up the computer a bit (Jaguar). However, the link given opens iFreeMemory 1.7.1 which was for OSX 10.3 and not the newest version 2.5.1

    The newest version I have found is the 2.0 for OSX 10.4. You can still download the 2.5.1 version from the homepage but it is a trial version. Don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, but the link provided here sends you to a number of mirrors where all you find is the 1.7.1 version.

    RLSlog has posted this one before. Completely useless (the app, not RLSlog).

    @7

    I’m with you on that. I don’t trust programs that have anyonomus uploaders. Video and most music is cool, but jacked programs; stuff that can cause serious damage to the security of my computer, is not worth it. Nothing against RLSlog.net of course ;)

    This would be the biggest waste to download/buy. It is a pointless program.
    OS X does not need better memory management.

    “Maximum free memory can sometimes be better than half your memory filled with old cached files.”

    No, it isnt. What use is free memory? Its just wasted. If an application needs more ram, the memory manager frees data from the file cache (anyway it keeps blocks cached, not files), and most of that data aint in the write cache but in the read cache, and therefore does not need writing something to disk on cleaning up.

    this tool is 100% useless. Probably spyware.

    In my experience this kind of application will slow down your computer! Let the OS manage the memory!
