Activata iFreeMem v2.0.0 Mac OSX-CFF

Activata iFreeMem as will help you to free up your memory and run apps smoothly and faster on your Mac. This one is tagged as v2.0 but on publishers web page newest is v2.5, CFF explained something about that in NFO, so make sure to read it.

Description:

iFreeMem free’s memory from the in-memory cache that accumulates with every file or application read from hard-disk. The cache is good, but it can become cluttered with files you don’t even need cached anymore that take up precious RAM. Maximum free memory can sometimes be better than half your memory filled with old cached files.

If you are in the middle of using an application and the system becomes unresponsive for several seconds it could be the memory manager recovering cache memory for your application. iFreeMem optimise feature is a quick and easy alternative to either a reboot or RAM upgrade to get defragmented free memory.

You will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of free memory you will get after running iFreeMem. Then open more applications at once without any delays.

So if your gonna start posting all these MAC Apps instead of Windows Apps maybe you should get a sub-section or how about we just forget the Windows Apps all together, seen as theres none being posted anyway.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to split the apps section into the different platforms like windoze, mac & even *nix, it would tidy up the rss feeds a bit.

I don’t know why people debate over OS? If you like Mac, use it. If you like Windows, use it. Use both. Back in the 80’s there were many more platforms then today. We all got along. Well, except for the Commodore & Atari types. The Amiga vs ST was fun. But now I think we can all come together. The fact that Windows is run on 90 something percent of the worlds PC’s means it’s here to stay. But you Windows people shouldn’t get tweaked by the posting of a Mac or Linux app.

this is rubbishware for the recent mac users that have just come over to windows…
macs dont need>: Defrag utilitys, ifreemem-type apps or big overblown antivirus apps…
Macos defrags on the fly. it doesent need any help flushing memory like windows does.
Your mac and macos is a finely tuned machine, and installing junk like this is just unnecessary..
(in fact cracking junk like this is unnecessary and just gives hackers the chance to test out stuff on you.)

if you have just bought a mac, then find out more about it as its a COmPleTlEy different animal to windows.

Mac need some kudos for the state of their OS, it has pioneered some brilliant new aspects to the user interface that windows is failing keep pace with. Im not a fan of Mac, I personally believe that apple is even more evil than Microsoft. Correct me if I’m wrong but OSX is just an overly expensive OS that forces you to use overly expensive proprietary apple branded hardware. For which you can only buy a limited selection of overly priced software, most (or all) of which is available on the other two OS’s (read win/*nix) anyway.

Linux is absolutely amazing has all the gui features of mac, and has so many cool things you can do i cant mention them now, is completely free, will run (or can be made to run) on nearly any hardware. It has a large selection of medium-high quality games, and can run alot of windows games with the use of wine/cedega, however is traditionally not suitable for 90% of Desktop users due to its technical nature, and is also a bit querky in places, probably due to the fact that alot of the code is written in peoples spare time. (try Ubuntu! I gave to to my grandad and he say’s its easier than windows!)

and Windows is well, Windows, everybody has it and probably >= 90% of software is developed for it, if you wanna play the latest games/apps and you don’t want to use proprietary hardware then you need this OS.

so well… its up to you!

    Macs are great (yet expensive)
Windows is great (yet a bit expensive, but not proprietary)
Linux is great but limited in games, is querky and for techies only.

P.s. sorry for the rant like, pointless post!

these types of apps *may* free up some of your RAM, but they *will* take up CPU time. It’s a tradeoff. Software is idiotic these days. If you want better apps, you take apps away, not add more bloat to deal with bloat that causes bloat!

@ Another linux user:”Correct me if I’m wrong but OSX is just an overly expensive OS that forces you to use overly expensive proprietary apple branded hardware.”

Well.. OSX (when it’s not bundled with a great piece of hardware and design) costs about 129 dollars.. and it’s just one version, one OS.. not 25 different versions with the ‘top’ one costing about 400 dollars.. no, just one, with everything in it.

And no, they don’t force you to use apple branded hardware. I admit, what they charge for apple memory is ludicrous.. but a kingston 2gb ram module does the trick just as good for a fraction of the price.

Get your facts straight, and stop making every single software post an OS-debate..

    You friggin’ nerds.

FYI, this is crapware. File caching by the OS is a feature, not a bug, and you really, really dont wan’t to fix it or mess with it. The cache will be auto-cleared if an app wants to use more ram, anyway.

Well, I was under the impression (and i am no expert on OSX) that OSX at least used to require Mac hardware. This may have changed when Apple switched to using Intel Processors, but I could be wrong.

Why has there not been (to my knowledge) any release of the OSX OS for regular x86 systems, If I could get that then I could Tri-boot my system with all 3 of the heavy weight OS’s!

You are right there are a lot of OS debates in the comments, this is the first I have partaken in. I did not mean to annoy and I was aware of my incomplete knowledge of OSX hence my request to correct me if I was wrong.

It’s not the Mac apps that bother most people…

It’s the snotty, elitist Mac fanboys that follow.

    ***********************************************************

Mac’s have some great qualities, but none of that matters if you express those pros, like a complete fuggin’ jerk.

    ***********************************************************

I use Windows, OSX, and some Linux flavors as well. Each is great in their own way…but none are perfect.

That said, try a Mac if you can, as they do have some innovative and yet refined products and apps. Try some free, run from cd Linux versions too…and make up your mind for yourself.

    @Another Linux User

Mac doesn’t run “out of the box” on plain old X86 systems because it is EFI only. Now, it would in theory run on an Itanium out of the box… It has been hacked though to use BIOS, it just isn’t all that great. Now Vista can run on EFI out of the box also (so they say). We have to get clear also, Mac hardware is NOT expensive, well, not when compared to any equivalent PC.. $1,199 for a 2.0 Ghz Core 2 duo, 250 Gb Hard Drive, gig of Ram, Dual-layer DVD, 20″ widescreen HD glossy flat-panel, awesome webcam, mouse, keyboard and tons of software… Or for $599 you can get nearly the same thing without the monitor and accessories. So, when you compare it, the price is not bad, it’s not like they are $3,000 machines base price and corsair memory is $59 for a 2gb chip at some places…

I am a Linux user also, member of the FSF, I run my own hosting company on CentOS, but I prefer Ubuntu Server. As a server, Linux is king… It still has a way to go for the Desktop, if it even ever makes the mainstream desktop market. It works, but it requires some skills. Easy to use, yes, easy to install basic programs, yes, pretty GUI, yeah.. but let a suer try to do something more than just use it, and all hell breaks loose. It needs that right person, not for everyone, Personally, I find it a pain in the ass as a desktop system, I like to relax when I am not working with a server… Plus, really, I think an open Desktop is just asking for trouble, not everyone has good intentions.

So, if anything, being a Linux user and assuming you aren’t a hardcore GNU Nut, I would think you would be praising OS X. I mean, it IS Linux for the desktop done right. Well it is (BSD, GNU, MACH, AND Linux) for the desktop done right. Either way, you now have people on an easy to use OS that has that Linux structure. Those users can easily move to a Linux box without many problems… Windows users just go /? I like my \… then they get confused when they can’t find the registry on a MAC.

While I am at it, if anyone needs hosting, e-mail me, I have tons of left over space so server is going to waste, legit stuff only though. Time for some spamming! torchwood2008 at mac dot com.

Those “Mac Fanboys” are called Hipsters/Indie…. and they are not like us.. Yes, they like their macs for making zines and Indie movies that no one will ever see, and black and white photography, but they don’t have clue on how to actually use them beyond the software. They also all have Mac Pro’s.. Is a BMW a bad car just because of the M5 drivers? No. They are quite decent cars, if you actually use them and don’t get one just to have.

Most people here are techies and most of the mac people here are, I assume, pretty technical on that side. Those of us with Macs put them to use, we know the limits, we know the benefits, we know the OS, and I a sure more than just me have cracked open and iMac to upgrade the HD. I use mine for Network design and administration, terminal is my friend. Yes, I do some photo stuff and design work, but that is just because it is their and easy to use, but we are talking iPhoto and Pages, not heavy duty adobe stuff. SO, you hear pro mac stuff from real geeks here, not fan boys.

a month or two after Mac turned intel we had those macosx-vmware-images. I ran it in vmware under ubuntu and it worked(slow and buggy, but this was experimental homebrew stuff). Using the same images, a guy went and built himself a custom rig trying to get as close as possible to the Mac hardware with cheap and easy to get hardware. It worked. at 1/5th the cost.

There is no such thing as “Mac hardware”. Anybody that has tried getting wireless drivers working in *NIX will be able to tell you that there are no such things as “Linksys/D-Link/Netgear” wireless chipsets. In fact, with the hundreds of manufacturers, there are less than a dozen actual chipsets. Ralink/Prism/Zydas/Broadcom/Atheros are names that will not ring a bell, but if you use multiple adapters in windows and you are surprised that the “linksys” drivers are interoperable with “d-link,” there is your answer.

This is true for EVERY piece of hardware. We all know Nvidia and ATI license their chipsets to other manufacturers.

Finally, if you think, “I have a HP/Sony/Asus/Acer/Dell/etc” laptop, than I urge you to google “Quanta.”
They are the Taiwanese corp that build %70 of all lappies.

    food for though

ps *NIX users in this thread seem to be coherent. A stereotype I hope will be perpetuated.
