I don’t think I have to say anything about this release and neither for the group who brought it out, so I’ll keep it short. The movie has not even reached the half of the planet and a decent quality release is here. I still suggest everybody to go and see the movie in the cinema and watch this release as 2nd, I watched the movie once in the cinema and I might go twice. For people who think it’s not worth it, enjoy this one!
“300″ is an adaptation of Frank Miller’s epic graphic novel. Yeah, well, compared to a TS or WP it’s good, but compared to the standard DVDScr it’s washed out, there is only stereo sound and as long as there is no 2CD Retail Rip with 5.1 I won’t watch it.

I think that the last years we haven’t seen any good movies and finally Frank Miller’s 300 came and changed a little bit things.Greek history and mythology has great stories that can be told but Snyder did a wonderful job…something that a lot of others have tried and failed!This movie is worth seeing and even double seeing it.

Earlier around 100kB/s, now 250kB/s, my internet connection is slow lately (it’s shared) so it might be limiting factor. I had no problems with connecting, I’m from Poland btw.

I have the sound issues as well. Does everyone have the digital distortion throughout the film? It’s like a very high pitch short stuttering every couple of minutes. Is there maybe a codec I’m missing? Any idea if the 3.89GB copy has this issue as well, or where to find it (newsbin had zero hits)? The video is nice but the sound is ruining it for me.

Perhaps your router hasn’t been properly set, or you haven’t got the right set up within your newsreader. Anyways, do some more reading.

I was too late with the answer. Sorry. There are a lot of payservers out there. Some even include ‘pay-per-download’. Costs a few bucks, but makes a whole lot of difference. I won’t spam a link to a payserver though. I’m sure you’ll work that out.

As stated, you should get an other newsgroup provider. That will sent you login+pw. Put that in newsreader instead of that betanews. Normally the provider will offer an easy FAQ.
So basically you cant download using grab it. Right???/
No seacrh with NZB sites, like yabse.com or binseacrh.com. Paying is not necessary. Do not pay for search within grabit.
Sure you’ve read the howto’s?
Grabit is ur download prog. You’ll have to make a NZB with given sites, so you don’t have to update the headres manually. A NZB is a sort of index file which will active grabit to download whatever you have listed at NZB sites.

I downloaded it and the quality is great. I ran into one problem though – after I burned it with Nero and tried playing it on my TV, the audio crackles a ton. It plays perfectly fine on my computer, any ideas how to fix this?

After I found out the DVD was crackling on my computer as well, I reopened Nero added the files again. I went far enough to watch the preview and the crackling appeared there as well. I tried it with the 3 different audio formats (AC3 5.1, 2.0, and LPCM and all of them did it).
I’m out of ideas now =p

You want numbers 13 and 14.
This looks more like a real well done CAM of some sort, as the center of the picture is much brighter than the rest of it, and the audio sounds like an FM feed from a hearing impaired line. There’s no way it’s an actual DVD copy.
Have a look at the amout of .rar files for this release it should be 49 per cd. also look at dvdscr1 & 2 for the nr of disk’s. as stated above nr 13 & 4 are the ones you want to get right now but will probably change soon. hope this helps.

Play somewhat with binaries. You’ll be surprised how much (crap) it has to offer.
Regarding the fee newsserver I can’t comment. I have no reason to assume it only gives you limited access. Check the policy at their website.
One thing is important with newsservers though: retention. Don’t think free servers give you a great deal of retention.
As far as i get it newsgroups have a certain retention time. that means they save posts for a specific amount of time. depending on the server it could be anything from a day to a couple of months.

I actually got this thing to work…and it downloaded much faster on newsgroup then dealing with a torrent…anyway I find it does crackle a bit…but it comes and goes??? is there something im missing? has anyone gotten this and played it with no crackle? if so that means it can be fixed or is the crackle unavoidable

There are some cracks and hacks for Rapidshare if you search around, or you can pay I think six bucks for a months access. Completely worth it. Yes, use HJ Split.

I believe it has been determined that this is a very nice TS, not DVDRip, so that crackle is there to stay. Although when I loaded it up with VLC player and changed the audio stream to mono, it sounded much better.

You probably don’t have the proper audio codecs, try viewing the file in VLC.

Guys, those download speeds you’re getting from Usenet aren’t what you think they are. You’re readings are registered in kiloBITS per second, not kiloBYTES. To find out just how fast it’s really going, divide your kilobit speed by 8 to get your kilobyte speed.

Im normally not picky, but that sound is so annoying. Every single action scene or bass is like someone ripping your ears out. Maybe it is my icemat headset.. because people would agree with me if they heard what im hearing.. but yes the video is pretty nice.

Saw this movie twice in the theater and loved it. This screene is great. The picture quality is amazing for a DVDSR. I am having problem with the audio, though. I’m using WMP and the audio is out of sync. I’m guessing this is a problem with my computer. What could be the problem? Codec? Or should I go with VLC player? Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Brulaap for the Newsgroup help. I have never maxed out my connection for a pirate download like that before. I got a consistent 237 kilobytes per second all the way through which is the max for my connection. With torrents its always fluctuating of course, but with this it was abolutely perfect. The thing would\’ve downloaded much quicker if it were\’nt for my ISP capping my damn connection from 6pm to 10pm. (It went from 237 kilobytes a second down to 50 kilobytes a second)
Thanks for the tip with the free of charge newsgroup, I now know how newsgroups work and I plan to use them again in the future.
I\’m just imagining how fast downloads would be If I were to change to one of the fastest ISP\’s here in the UK who do 24mbit a second, compared to the 2mbit I\’m on. I\’m sure I will finally be in dreamland then!

I’ve found that sound quality depends a lot on engine/codecs you’re using. I’m using Linux, VLC and Mplayer both have cracking sounds but Xine has quite clear audio (still, not perfect).
I’m not getting any cracking sound, just obviously out of sync with the video

I downloaded it, and to me it seemd as though it was a milli sec off on the audio, maybe its just me, but it was a milli sec off, even after i converted it, it was off alittle…not much, but enough for a person that spends time reading subtitles and reading lips to know that it was off alittle, iam not totally deaf,. but deaf enough to notice when things arent right., butmaybe its my nero thats no good…or my nero codex’s or my VLC player codexs too old..or something..not sure.

The video quality is excellent! Fast downloads! I was averaging 72kb! It took less than 5 hours! Oh yeah, the thing that sucked was the sound, when it gets to the action sequences or loud parts of the movie, it’s very sound distortion/high static noise. But again, still pretty awesome and so early for such a watchable new release.

So it truly is an audio codec problem? Strange… I would think the distortion comes from clipping. Meaning the source was fucked up to begin with. Will try transcoding, thnx.

There seems to be crackling on CD2 file at 11:17, where the heavy metal music starts, but that was on my computer. I played it directly on my DVD DivX player and there is no distorsion. It’s all good

The image quality is okay, however there is something very wrong with the sound. You’ll hear clipping, I managed to get around it by using the “attenuate” knob on my receiver that lowers the input signal so clipping was nearly totally gone. However this is a step one should not have to take.
Top quality – Neptune has outdone themselves – However there are 2 problems – though not major – The sound appears to be peaking and causes some distortion when played back in avi players; using the equalizer may resolve this. With the right software convert the file over to mp2 and the sound should be normalised. After converting you will still discern a cycling glitch from the capping of the sample rate – however this is very minor. The image quality is fantastic with a resolution that will lend itself to plasmas and widescreen TV’s.
The other minor complaint is the end credits, which are missing the music which is a really awesome score. It does somewhat detract from the emotional resolve. The Workprint released recently has the music intact.
The movie itself is great – with strikingly surreal images and incredible cinematography – this is a ground breaking film – more so than Sin City – and is Oscar worthy. If you like the first part catch the rest at the Cinemas!
Would it work if I split the Audio and Video, converted the Audio to some other format like Mp3, then put it back. Then burn with Nero 7? Because if I leave it as it is and burn with Nero 7, the audio is still F-ed up.

SOLUTION TO AUDIO PROBLEMS: When I played the film, the audio was distorting like mad, as though it was recorded too loud. I opened up AC3 Filter and turned the Master Gain down to about -10, and now the audio is perfect. Try this with your own AC3 codecs. Good luck.

For Vinces sake who was having trouble with audio when using Nero to burn … I was having the same problem !
I downloaded AC3 Filter 1.1, and in the configuration settings I changed the output to digital stereo sound or something like that … I also ran nero updates and installed a few of them.
I am not sure which course of action worked, but it burns fine now

This should have been propered. The feedback thruout disc 1 and the majority of disc 2 makes it unbearable. While the video is clean, it can hardly make up for no sound worth hearing unless your actually deaf.

I downloaded a copy of this but it didnt give me the rar files it was just a 693MB video clip. when i try to open it says “Windows Media Player can not play the file. The player might non support the file type or the codec that was used to compress the file.” i didnt have the Xvid codec untill a few minutes ago, so i downloaded it and installed it and tried again. same thing. before i actually downloaded the whole file i downloaded the sample which had good picture quality but no sound. as i was reading through this forum i saw someone mention about google searching “AC3 audio decompressor” so i did and installed it, and now the sample has GREAT audio, but the actual clip still isnt working. i also read about a few people saying use VLC so i have downloaded it but would rather not use it if i can avoid it, id rather stick with Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and Divx Player if possible. im going to attempt to try VLC in a moment though but i dont assume that will remedy the problem. as i was looking through most of the similar torrents file details i noticed taht most of them are compressed in .rar files and in 2CD files as well. could this just be the torrent i used to download it? im trying one of the ones that most of you seem to be refering to. also could i be missing some codecs? im not sure, im pritty new to this and if someone could help me i would really appresiate it. untill then. keep up the good work all and thanks for the help so far!

I thought this was a great movie – one that I’ll watch again and again.
What gets me is those people who complain that it’s not “historically accurate” enough – (see the lengthy diatribe halfway down this page for an example). C’mon, people. Why are you looking to Hollywood for your daily history lesson? That’s what the Discovery Channel is for. Movies like this are meant to be fun and this one succeeds, in that regard, as far as I’m concerned.

Ok guys, I downloaded this last night, I have been working on trying to get this to work for about 1hour 20mins.
I downloaded it from Azureus, Torrent,

Well i tried to open them first in Winamp… Comes up a black screen doesnt do anything. Then i tried VLC … Looks as if it was playing but no pictures or sound, then i downloaded K-lite codec to maybe see if i was missing any.. Still no picture. Tried opening in Divx. I got Failed to open file. Please Check that is a valid Video file.
