30 Days of Night DVDRip XviD-DiAMOND

Once again DiAMOND are the first to pre a DVDRip this time for 30 Days of Night. Quality looks great as usual from the sample but the low bitrate of 693 kbps makes me a bit skeptical of the overall quality. Nothing more to say other than download and enjoy (it’s a DiAMOND release after all) :) .

Based on the Steve Niles graphic novel. In a sleepy, secluded Alaska town called Barrow, the sun sets and doesn’t rise for over thirty consecutive days and nights. From the darkness, across the frozen wasteland, an evil will come that will bring the residents of Barrow to their kness. The only hope for the town is the Sheriff and Deputy, a husband and wife who are torn between their own survival and saving the town they love.

    @7

i thought the movie was pretty decent, the vampires are pretty heartless in this movie… it probably coulda been a little bit better but there is a decent amount of gore, and the storyline isnt the worst ive seen… as for the protagonists having some sort of supernatural badassedness like in blade, well they are just normal people… its definitely worth a watch if its your kinda thing… cant speak on the quality of this release, ive usually been very pleased with diamond releases, but today it seems like we are gettin bombarded with 1cd releases… blah…

This release should really be 2xCDs. There is a lot of FAST action which is going to look like crap at that low bitrate. I’ll have to download the full DVD rip in order to enjoy it. Overall I thought this movie was badass. Definitely one of the best vampire movies ever…if not THE best vampire movie ever, IMO. There were scenes which made me kind of shudder, and some scenes which really startled me. Overall excellent flick.

Any good encoder knows that high bitrate doesn’t mean quality (it does however confirms big filesize!). There are a number of factors other than bitrate to consider when getting best quality… >.>

I downed that poor cam version when it first came out. Dunno if it was cut or whatnot but it was so entirely bloodless I thought it sucked by the end.

The ruthlessness of the vampires and their ferocity was awesome. I was hoping for people to get torn in half, and eaten alive by multiple vampires, similar to being torn apart by a pack of hungry lions.

but no, small blood spurts and camera turns away to look at walls when someone is getting savaged. and even more of a bloody let-down considering how ruthlessly savage and gory the original comic was to begin with.

what is up with diamond lately??? they used to be good but people keep saying that just cuz its diamond its a good release but technically they keep releasing sh!t on 1CD when its over 105 min :( good thing i always get the dvdr; because the speds at the scene cant do simple math ( >105min = 2cd)

What is the point of a 1CD release, moron’s like that. Who even burns to CD’s still? This is the 21st century, it’s either DVD, DVD-DL, or Blu-ray discs. I want good quality, start putting out 1GB and higher releases already!

the pre (pre time) is the time from when a group post a release on ftp to the time when a topsite gets a hold of it. ie diamond releases 30 days of night and it takes a topsite 12 minutes to get it. therefore the pre time is 12 mins

It is such a shame how DiAMOND releases have really tumbled in quality over the past 6-9 months now.

They enjoyed a peak in popularity last year, but lately they just can’t get back on track. At least they had a good run.

Who is the new scene leader?

700MB is fine size for viewing. You like it so much go buy the good quality later. I’ll burn cd divx all day any day. Half these movies I wouldn’t pay to see anyway. The ones I really like I buy on Blu-Ray. My cdr movies are still fine too.

@80 : Believe it or not… I can assure you that a large number of people still watch films on their computers.
With the democratization of large LCD widescreens now (such as 22″), some people prefer to invest in that kind of screen instead of buying a HD Ready TV screen. Especially, when you know that you can have a TV tuner card for not a lot of money.
Not everybody can afford to buy a computer AND a LCD/Plasma TV screen.

Personally I do prefer 2 CD rips but I always just use my s-video out, straight to my tv, and split the audio out to my tvs input. Saves using a CD every time, also my DVD player doesnt play xvid, and from what people tell me, most Xvid playing DVD players are really picky what version you use.

I hate this whole 2x 700MB releases sh|t. Come on, most of the people can burn dvds by now if not even bluerays, I think it’s time to switch the cd focus to the dvd focus. if you got to release something compatible to cd than make it a 1x 1400MB release and the few that only can handle cds can splitt it with virtualdub….

    plz go with the time…

In settings in converxtodvd you can set it to play all clips in a row one after the other, then it will automatically continue and play part 2.

For merging files I use a program called Fast AVI MPEG joiner.
