A few weeks after the DVDRip of 21 from FLAiTE, we get a nice BD5 release from REFiNED :) This is mainly for the people that want to burn this on a DVD and play on a standalone Bluray player, unless you don’t mind the slight quality loss when watching on your PC :D

    This is that movie that’s been accused of racism isn’t it? Something to do with how the real guy this was based on is asian but here he’s replaced by a white guy…

    EDIT: Banning doesn’t help when all you need to do to bypass a ban is use a proxy…

    He can’t, I edited his. To all the people complaining about banning:

    Now you understand what we have to put up with… Banning doesn’t help and the only thing we can do is delete comments manually… The only other option that we could have is; making people have accounts to post comments, without an account you can just view posts/comments. But we don’t, unfortunately :(

    @ 36 and 38 … any bluray rip that says bd5 allows for burning onto a regular dvd5 rom, which will be compatible to play on a standalone like the ps3… Usually chakra and refined are the ones to put out releases as such. I hope that the scene will start making this format standard…..

    Isn’t the quality already reduced when it’s ripped from a Blueray? And since I am sure no individual can afford to own a bluelaser burner, this rip is just a regular D5 DVD quality and is there any difference playing back on a regular DVD or a Blueray DVD player? I would think the difference would be in your TV, weather it is HD or not?

    Is there any way you can just burn the .mkv file like an ISO? I have been wanting to make High Def rips to play on my xbox 360 and I just can’t figure out a way to make them work properly and not take forever and a day to convert and still be good quality and be small enough to even fit on a Dual Layer DVD+R. Even when I try to stream them to my xbox it has spots where it just skips. I really need some help on this front because I want to keep the 5.1 surround sound and keep the Hi-Def for my new tv. If anyone has any input it would be much appreciated!!!

    I can see why some people like these BD5 rips as they are easy to [play on a PS3 but the quality is very poor compared to a 4.37 pure .mkv file.

    No way on gods green earth will this ever become the standard, just a useful alternative catered for by a a few groups.

    At teh guys wanting to play mkv on PS3. It can be done, I’ve been doing it awhile, you can use one of two methods. Just do a quick google on”PS3 MKV”. You’ll come across either the ‘mkv2vob’ or ‘TsMuxer’ methods. I usually stream them from my PC using Tversity

    The 720p rips, whether labeled Bluray or BD5, should both have roughly the same quality. The only real difference is that the former is cropped and the latter is not (ie: one may have black bars while the other does not, until playback that is). If the original picture was 16:9 to begin with, then neither will be cropped and thus should be completely equal in terms of quality. I suppose because BD5’s are uncropped, they may need slightly more compression (which is lossy) to keep it down to DVD5 size, but I honestly can’t see how black bars would add all that much to the overall file size seeing as they should compress extremely well, much like when compressing silence with audio (FLAC for example).

    Both the Refined and Chakra releases tend to be the BD5 type which is primarily for PS3 users. Originally they came out as either a BD5 ISO and/or already pre-configured for use in the PS3, though these days they seem to instead be uncropped x264 video in an MKV container and also include the software needed to convert it to a PS3 compatible configuration. Not a bad compromise, though fwiw I don’t have a PS3 and instead use my PC (connected to a 52″ HDTV via DVI-to-HDMI cable, thus I still prefer the cropped MKV’s. These usually show up as a PROPER shortly after Refined/Chakra releases.

    Please explain the quality difference in playing this:

    - On your PC connected to your HDTV using DVI/HDMI
    - Standalone bluray player connected to your HDTV using HDMI

    The computer need to be very crappy if you’re not able to play 720p mkv smoothly (not with less quality). But the poster means that you receive an actual quality loss if you play it on your computer instead of in a standalone bluray player. Which I don’t understand at all.

    I think the poster means that you have quality loss because this movie is compressed so it fits on a DVD5 (single sided data dvd).
    This means that you have the same quality when playing on the PC as playing it on your home cinema, but if you’re on a PC he reckons you should get the full sized 720p version.

    REDEEMED!!! The past few movies downloaded from REFiNED were a waste because of audio sync issues. I decided to give them a second chance & am glad I did. 10/10. Great!!

    Thanks mertkan.

    Links worked great but was the any need to have 44 rar files full of 88 more rar files to be extracted. Also RapidShare now allow 200Mb upoloads so you can cut your work in half by making the most of it.
