2008 Beijing Olympic Closing Ceremonies

UPDATE: Beijing.Olympics.2008.Closing.Ceremony.720p.HDTV.x264-ORENJi just pre’d

Well it’s finally over. After 17 days of an amazing journey into Beijing, China we say goodbye to another year’s Olympics. Next time, 2012 in London. See you there?! (Yes, Yes Vancouver in 2010 but that’s Winter and I’m already there :D )

Brought to you in 2 CD format with very good quality by group 2HD. A great show, an amazing way to end this years Olympics. The fireworks were AMAZING … and they weren’t all computer generated this time

The 2008 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, was a major international multi-sport event that took place in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, from August 8 (except football, which started on August 6) to August 24, 2008. A total of 10,500 athletes competed in 302 events in 28 sports, one event more than was on the schedule of the 2004 games.

How much more of a hypocrite can you be? Accuse the Americans of re-arranging the rules (which they didn’t and can’t anyway, it’s about the viewer’s perspective) in order to make it look like they won, and then you go right ahead and try to suggest Australia is the best team because they won the most medals per capita. Your level of ignorance is astounding.

ESPN has historically ranked by gold as well, till this year. So, yeah, conclusion: Chinese are competitive, Americans are competitive too. This year China’s on top.

Maybe they should just list medals by alphabet.

  28. asdf
    August 25th, 2008 | 07:32

I heard that America invented a new style of medal table which features the total medals each country has got in the olympic history,so it will make sure that America can stay on top of it for a really long long time before they invent something more interesting.
also found an intereting suggestion that we should have a point based system for the medal table,e.g. gold gets 3 points, silver gets 2 and bronze get 1.

  29. Lighting Bolt

Why are the US media outlets the only ones that report the medal tally in the non-standard format that puts them on top.

And, yes, it has ALWAYS been the accepted standard to base the tally on the number of gold medals

  32. Anon
    August 25th, 2008 | 07:47

    @11
The judges weren’t really bias, Olympics judges don’t just come from China.

The Chinese “may” have used underage gymnasts, however there has been no solid proof as of yet. Yes they may have looked a little too young, however my Chinese hairdresser is like 45 but she looks like shes 30.

Even if they were underage, i really don’t see the problem with that. I only see the underage part as being a “handicap” on china’s side. Lets say those girls are 13yrs old, they have only had 13 yrs or less to practice their sport. Where as the girls from USA are a lot older, they have had so many more years to perfect their form. Therefore in the end the Americans just cannot stand that they lost to kids who have had less training than they have.

Pretty sad that the Americans cannot accept the loss, even after China giving them a handicap.

  33. fink
    August 25th, 2008 | 07:52

Can someone toss me a video or links or news paper articles or anything that gives an example of how the Americans cant handle not being the best?

Am I missing it here?, Apparently arranging the medals to most medals and not most gold medals means Americans can not handle not being the best?

  34. AlphA
    August 25th, 2008 | 07:53

America didn’t win…It just doesn’t work like that people.

China won 51 gold medals whereas the United States won only 36 gold medals.

Now honestly 2 Bronze medals don’t even come close to a Gold meaning your NUMBER 1 in the WORLD at that sport.

I’m an Australian and I think China kicked ASS!! Well done China, this was an awesome Olympic games! Opening and closing where awesome and no major dramas at all.

If USA wants to think they won then good on them! I see no Winners or losers. It was a great two weeks of sport!

Go Bolt! 9.69 second 100M was AWESOME

Where exactly is everyone seeing this arranging by total and not gold at?
US news? perhaps a US news website? a US paper? I do find it strange that US news, US websites and US papers are arranging the medals by total, since the US has the most medals and all, I’d imagine Chinese news, websites and papers are arranging them by gold since they have the most golds and all

    August 25th, 2008 | 08:22

I don’t know why everyone is always so eager to have a go at America, and always taking satisfaction from the thought of China beating them. Yes they abuse their power sometimes, that’s what powerful nations do, but if you think rooting for the day China is more powerful than America makes sense then you’re in for a rude awakening. They won’t have any compunctions about misusing their power, ffs even now everyone can see the implicit threats they make, watch all the western leaders kowtowing to them in a way they would never be forced to by America. Seriously, better the devil you know.

the usa can’t take it that they didnt win, hence the re-arrangement of the medal tally. its always been like that with them, just look at the war in iraq, its all about being the biggest superpower and trying to rule over other smaller countries, weapons of mass destruction my ass…

and phelps? pfft who cares, i have a lot of respect that he won 6 individual and 2 team gold medals, but usain bolt is the real talk of the olympics, to take the double on the track is far more prestigious, and i know id rather be able to run fast then swim fast.

  46. oly
    August 25th, 2008 | 08:25

LOL at the yanks, the only country in the world to suddenly rearrange the table by total medals and not Gold. God they are such sore losers. They cant even handle coming second. As previously mentioned, if you divide the gold medals by population per capita, Australia won… not that it changes the medal table, its just an interesting fact that a country with so few people can do so well.

The table has never been ranked by total, so don’t sit there and kid yourself into thinking its normal.

Well done to China, they seriously kicked ass this year.

This is really pathetic what US media does in here… :)
    so total medal doesn’t count?
maybe it would but not like this for sure… :)
because gold and silver medal doesnt value same…!
    but i guess you can count like this though;
    1 Gold = 3 Silver
    1 Silver = 3 Bronze
So China = 550 bronze worth of medals
USA = 474 bronze worth of medals

This would be fair maybe… China still wins on total too BTW… :)
(I’m from a totally different country)

    August 25th, 2008 | 08:35

lol @ America rearranging the list. It’s always been the total of gold, not the total of medals.

@14, now do the division by gold and not total, Jamaica would be the only ones close to Australia. It’s not surprising, Australia is the worlds sporting nation and we did poorly this time compared to previous. If only we had the fraction of the funding that others have.

I love how the entire planet bar the USA ranks it by Golds as opposed to total medals won.

Yes the Chinese benefitted from some dodgy officiating and possibly underage gymnasts, but as hosts they were always going to get the hometown advantage. Hopefully us Brits will have the same ‘luck’ in 2012 and we could make the top 3!

You know, it’s unreal at the ignorant assumptions some Americans seem to make time and again.

As if trying to rig the Olympics so that their population would not be disadvantaged for network broadcast times – and to hell with the rest of the world if it means America got their transmissions of their Olympic events in prime time – now it seems they have to rig the medal table to make it look like they won the Olympics?

Does America’s hypocrisy – and the ignorance of the patriotic, chest thumping ignoramuses who reside therein know any limits at all?

China won – and all the unconvincing Yank fervor will do not one thing to change that.

    @LexInEffect comment 62 ….

How un-American and unexpected … drowning a succint, specific Olympic Games and topic with the grandeur of overall achievement.
Overall gold medal totals are not part off this discussion or topic.
Where did you get the extra 78 golds? Why not make it a neat 100? Or even 1000?

Think about the real achievers in countries that have fractions off the population and budget of America … oh wait, I’m actually asking you to think outside of America – a completely foreign concept for you, and one that seems beyond your ability to embrace.

It’s a WORLD games .. understand that? And sorry to burst your bubble LexInEffect, but America is NOT the world, and certainly does not speak for or show itself up as the model for this world to follow.

    August 25th, 2008 | 09:03

US won, just like they did in Iraq.

    Oops… :-P

But seriously, the list IS generally based on the amount of gold medals. This means China came out first, which is no surprise since they were the organizing country and are just damn good!

It’s about the gold, not the silver or bronze.

Where are you all getting this total count arrangement from…any ways my two cents are that US have been 1st in total count for awhile since 1996 but just this year they did not have as many gold medals to show…
    2008 – 110 total(36 gold)
    2004 – 103 total (35 gold)
    2000 – 97 total (40 gold)
    1996 – 101 total (44 gold)

…so before that it was between russia (U.S.S.R) and US for first place…..

  71. luzz

I have always liked the US and Americans, but that Medal tally with 36 USA golds beating 51 Chinese just only tells the rest of the world that Americans will tell any lie come out on top. Gold does not equal silver and it certainly doesn’t equal bronze.

The IOC knows who won, so does the rest of the world. Tell yourselves what you want, you just look ungratious in defeat, and take the shine off some truly amazing sporting achievments.

….further research has shown that total medal counts determine winner…..every Olympics except 2008, 1912 and 1896 Olympics where the country won by most medals but not most gold….all other years the winning country has most gold and overall total….

….check out the 1912 Olympics….US has the most gold but they were ranked second because of the total medal count….

Or you can count like this:

    1 Gold = 3 Bronze
    1 Silver = 2 Bronze
    1 Bronze = 1 Bronze

So, US’s bronze medals 220, China’s bronze medals 223… And… China still wins on total too BTW :D !

    @sweetchuk

What part of my comment made you believe that thinking out side of the US is “a completely foreign concept for you, and one that seems beyond your ability to embrace.” Just because I stick up for my country? I’m sick of everyone always hating on the Americans! The athletes who competed didn’t publish the tally you’re all refering to…they’re not invading foreign countries… whatever everyone’s beef is with the US, these athletes have nothing to do with it. And if you read a few more posts you would have seen that the 78 additional medals are from Winter Olympics…

And for your information I was born in Latvia and spent more than half my life living all across the world and I have friends and family all over the world. So I am perfectly capable of thinking “outside the US”… I have friends and family all over the world.

So next time don’t assume, it makes you look foolish.

    @Tom – comment 77

So do I Tom … then the world might actually get a chance to shrug itself of the IOU factor that America and champions of that country’s ‘benevolence’ seem to regurgitate to all us ‘lesser’countries.

So it goes back to being isolationist … same as it was before pretty much the end of WW1, before 1/3rd into WWII, and how would the world be a worse off place because of that?

And how did this discussion turn from America trying to fudge the figures on actual gold medals won in this Olympics and its place on the medal tally as a result, to the erroneous assumption that America thinks it is the international economic and military shining light for the rest of the world, which is most certainly is not!

Tom@77 There are an awful lot of us non-Americans, who are not anti-American who are hoping for the day when America will withdraw all troops and let the rest of us get on and live as soverign nations without having to first considder what we do in the light of what “the Americans” might think. There is a time to interveine and there is a time to step back and let things happen, and it seems the US rarely gets it right.

The US is powerful and certainly is one of the most generous nations on earth, but power and generosity are not an excuse for arrogance and an ignorant refusal to listen to other points of view.

Therefore, the total number of bronze medals is greater than the total number of gold or silver medals.
So if the US would have won all the bronze medals and no silver or gold, you still would think they are the best, because they have the most medals?

A nice break? America relies on international sales of those CPU’s, amongst other international trade, to try to prop up its sagging and nearly stuffed economy as it is.
Removal of those sales would be about as helpful to America as its doomed to fail attempts at trying to claim these Olympics as a win!

But maybe it might be fun to see America start from the beginning again. It might learn the lessons of humility and honesty in dealings, rather than recite them to a world already by and large practicing them.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_medal_rankings
very interesting chapter right at the end
    it umm starts with
US media has historically ranked countries in an ‘overall total’ manner, with all medals being added up and a ranking based on which country has the greatest number.[4] Before 2008, this difference in ranking system received scant notice, since in recent olympic history the country that led in total medals also led in the gold count. China and the US bucked this trend in 2008.[4][5]

Most Americans are too dumb to use a computer..

Half of American products are of the worst quality..

A combined European army would be bigger & better than the whole North- & Central American Continent’s combined armies..

America is on the verge of bankrupc, because of inferior logical capabilities & short term thinking (or is that long for US standards?)

Just because people point out that according to Gold medal count China came first and the U.S second doesn’t mean they hate the U.S. It means they disagree with the claim that the U.S. won the Olympics.

On a side note, Australians are a nation of some 20 Million on the worlds biggest island and that makes us somewhat insecure about our place in the world. That’s why we were disappointed in our performance at the games and there’s no real need to be. All countries did well to be able to compete on a world stage and we should all be proud of that.

Except for the Kiwis, there’s no hope for them.

Don’t get me wrong, there is pressure for American athletes, but probably nowhere near as much as their is for Russia and
Chinese athletes. The US has it’s problems, but god help us

China was impressive. No question their medal count is superior. What interests me most is the Aussies and the Redcoats seem really excited about this. Driving a sort of anti-Americanism throughout this post. I’m hoping sometime in the near future the USA reverts back to her days of isolationism, ya know, pre-WWII…deferring her superpower status, by default, to China. Australia wouldn’t last a week. I saw British combat troops in Iraq. I give them a week and a half. And for the record, the US media has ALWAYS counted total medals first. You just didn’t notice because we would’ve been on top either way. ;)

American’s CANT REALLY get over the Olympics, they cant accept that CHINA, an ASIAN country could beat them in number of GOLD medals… Most Americans(especially WHITES) feel they’re superior over other races & color, but in fact, they are one of the dumbest people in the world, 3 of 5 american youth cant even locate their country in the world map….

THE TALLY posted here was arranged by the TOTAL NUMBER of medals because the blogger/poster don’t want to see U.S.A is below CHINA. The Number of Gold matters not the total number of medals… Even YAHOO posted “THE REAL” medal TALLY just to prove US is ALWAYS above CHINA… YOU RACIST!

Americans just find an excuse to make them on the top of the list. HOW LAME isn’t? Im sure, on the 2012 London Olympics, China wont be able to do this again ‘coz flying athletes to other countries could be really costly…

Maybe China should just stop buying American debt and see how the US deals with that. The US could never become isolationists because as much as they would like to deny it they need us. Also how many of the countries that have US troops actually want them there. I know that they aren’t really welcome most of the places they go so maybe they should leave.

Oh yes, I wish either Obama or McCain would have the balls to turn the country into an isolationist. No more troops stationed overseas, no more foreign aids sent to other countries (and that includes Israel). Then we Americans can focus on improving our own country. Then you anti-America people can deal with Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and problems in Africa all by yourselves.

  177. Birdflu1
    August 25th, 2008 | 16:19

It is simplistic to think that winning a gold medal is the purpose of the Olympics. What if a country sweeps an event, which Jamaica and US and A did several times. Should you punish the silver and bronze medalists? I think not! Anyone who won a medal is a winner.

  178. Noir
    August 25th, 2008 | 16:27

Birdflu1 The point is that China were the BEST at more events than anyone else. It isn’t just “gold”, it’s FIRST. That means while sure, bronzes and silvers are to be commended, China WON more events. How many people “almost won” is completely irrelevant. You don’t win a tournament in something like motor racing by coming second and third a lot, you have to win.

The chart is posted as just the “MEDAL COUNT” not who is first, second or third. Clearly the USA is first in the total of medals but China won more gold which puts them in first place just like any other competition. I have saw the overall medal count just like this since the 1984 Olympics. They show both usually, overall medal count and order by place.

So many childish remarks. There is a vast difference between a population and its government. Not one of us does not have a corrupt and power/wealth seeking government. The leaders of government and industry do not seek power in order to be benevolent. They want it at any cost. If you think your government is not just as corrupt as any other, then you are spending too much time in a stupor of ignorance.
The major world powers view the Olympics as a political tool to manipulate the ignorant. Fighting amongst ourselves over petty issues while allowing them to take more and more of our freedoms and power away from us is just what they want.

The ranking sorts by the number of gold medals the athletes from a nation have earned (in this context, a “nation” is an entity represented by a National Olympic Committee). The number of silver medals is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze medals. If nations are still tied, equal ranking is given and they are listed alphabetically by IOC country code.”

@1 ROCK, do the math, it’s a matter of simple logistics.

If you pick your baseball team out of 10 guys lined up on the fence, you can build a pretty good team.

If you pick your baseball team out of 100 guys lined up on the fence, you have a pretty good shot at beating the other guys.

The only reason China doesn’t clean up on all the games is because, despite the population, only a small portion of them can afford or have the opportunity to pursue a life of athletics.

If only your citizen’s overall mentality and intellect reflected your ability to play sports, you’d actually be onto something, instead of being the world’s laughing stock.

I am a Chinese American – my parents were born in America, but all grandparents were born in China. The USA is not what it used to be, and a lot of countries have surpassed the USA in both educational and moral standards in the last 20 or so years.

The same goes for the sports – clearly the World has caught up and surpassed the USA in many areas. In the USA, most people don’t care if we are not on top of _all_ sports – only the ones that they feel are important to the masses – like basketball are really important to most.

So I think that we Americans are fine with the World being dominant in the majority of sports – just as long as we win at least a couple of “popular” sports.

However one ratio test that we _may_ lead in: how many people want to immigrate to our country vs. how many people want to leae our country.

Please feel free to suggest your country as an alternative.

I certainly have become less proud of our policies in the last 10 years or so, but I still would not want to live anywhere else. I’m sure a lot of people feel the same about their countries, too.

So let’s just agree to disagree for now…

Strangely, only after you have taken binladen in their buildings and places, arrogant, is that you started to count wrong, and seeing that is no longer the SUPERPOTÊNCIA do you think they are. I’d like to see you whiny brats go one year without any kind of US media; no TV, movies, music, games, websites, and so on. I bet ya can’t do it.

You just sit there and hate us all day long and pretend that you’re smarter and better all the while there’s little ole you eating McDonald’s and watching Fight Club before you fire up Halo or Gears on your Xbox 360.

You didn’t learn English so that you could watch Eastenders now did you? Nope, you learned English because it’s the language of media and the language of business and I’m not in the least bit worried about offending anyone by sweeping them into that wide net because those genuine people can’t understand a word of what I just typed out.

as a guy said before – if we were to look at total medals – we might as well look at per capita medals – or team sport medals, or any other statistic… in the end – its about who won the most…

china won the most… and #207… don’t worry – i look forward to my children searching chinese sites in the future to find beijingwood movies etc…

china beat you at sports and economy… they’ll come around entertainment wise soon enough.

Go ahead and hate the policies and the politicians; just be sure to keep consuming US media as it’s what is actually destroying your culture.

Great job on taking away from the athletes that actually competed in the games. To the Chinese American, I am also proud to live in a country with many others cultures and races are welcomed and agree with not wanting to go back to my Grandparents origin. If America is so bad that why is everyone trying to come here, of course for the “AMERICAN DREAM”

We all saw the medal trackers that said the United States and China were dominating the Olympics.

Great for them, but consider this — the U.S. has a population of 303,824,646 (according to July 2008 estimates on the CIA World Factbook Web site), and China is home to 1,330,044,605 people. That’s a pretty big pool of athletes to pick from.

What about Bahrain? It has only 718,306 potential Olympians.

So we’ve decided to award a prize to the country that won the most medals per people in its home country.

And the winner is … (sorry, you have to scroll down to the bottom)

America reinvent the medal table, it a pity…
To all American ignorant, you live in a country ruled by a few, press is censored everyday, presidential election are manipulated, you go declare war if your get profit out of it. There is no more democracy in the US since JFK……. So know ask yourself do you still think that America is better than China?

By the way i’m french, i don’t especially like Chinese but I hate the ignorance in your country. I love America because its a great country and there is still hope because I do believe that a lot people are not blind, they just need to increase there number.

So long China won the Olympics…

    Pmsl at that table^

Yanks need to accept China beat them with the medal ‘that really counts’, and by some distance this time. Yanks are bad as Australia; who used the ‘we have more medals’ excuse versus the British halfway through Olympics, only for the brits to end up beating them on total count aswell, lol.

So, everyone seems to be upset. Let’s just say that both China AND the US kicked ass, isn’t that fair? As for all the America haters. Face it, if your county was being taken over, wouldn’t you want the Americans on your side? They are a proud and free country, and rightly so. I love my country as much as you do, and I admire the tenacity of the Americans. Don’t forget, that the USA is made up from a population of hundreds of other countries. Including yours and mine. SO CHILL OUT ALREADY. ;o)

A proud CANADIAN. Um, we’re that huge country that sits on top of the USA. LOL

Just to set the record straight for anyone who actually cares about the truth, if you google 2004 Olympics you will see that all the medal counts are arranged by total medals. Of the 6 sites I looked at ALL were arranged by total medals.

    Fattburguer sucks
    usa sucks

I love when usa can’t stand they lose in something, they just look so stupid. Complaining about the Chinese age was just so totally embarrasing hahaha better stay quiet and accept you got your ass kicked, even if they were underage that is more humilliating, they just make fool of themselves by complaining
    hahaha I love that
For all the morons saying it’s all about the total medals just go to the OFFICIAL website and check the OFFICIAL medal table where you can see China IS no. 1
Usa was the 1st yeah but in bronze medals hahaha

I’m U.S citizen but I’m embarrassed by this list. Anyone who accepts USA as 1st is either arrogant or stupid. By making this list, the author is basically saying that American are stupid and will accept anything fed to them. This pissed me off greatly.

Silver and bronze do not equal gold. If they are, wtf is the point of having 2nd and 3rd place. Total counts says 2nd and 3rd is the same as first. WTF. LOL.

If you want fair then give each type of medals their numerical worth. Example: G=3, S=2, B=1. U.S still doesn’t get 1st place.

If you just want to know who’s the greatest, then count the gold. You just don’t freaking get 1st place coming in 2nds and 3rds.

Rants over. Just pissed off cause a few idiots in the states thinks we are all dumb like them.

Hehehe.. USA has historically ranked as everyone else: most golds, most silvers then most bronzes.

This year China kicked USA’s ass real good, so you lame americans had to tally the winners by the total number of medals. Go ahead, FOOL yourselves as much as you want!

North-americans (yes, you don’t actually own the whole America) are so pathetic!
I guess you do have the president you deserve…
So this year the medal count will be different? Hum… It remembers me of one time when someone got elected through fraudulent means… Or maybe a place where the candidate that gets the most votes doesn’t necessarily wins…
    Stupid ideas of stupid people…
They really think they have it all.
Sorry, loosers, but two flashing news for you:
    - English comes from England, not US “of” A
    - China won the 2008 Olympic Games

Next time, try throwing a plane over the games to see if you win something…
    LOOSERS!!!!

    August 26th, 2008 | 06:25

I wouldn’t live in US “of” A even if you paid me lots of money! I do speak English, but last time I checked, North-Americans weren’t responsible for it’s “invention”.
You sad and pathetic loosers forget what your country was made of: immigrants.
People came from Europe and butchered Native-Americans so to take their lands. Then, you brought Africans to enslave in your farms so you didn’t have to work.
And after beeing made of immigrants, what the “North-Americans” do? Laws to stop immigration…
Well, you’re right when you say lots of people want to live there… It’s better than some small city in Mexico!
American Dream? I think living with stupid North-Americans the rest of my life more of a nightmare than of a dream!
    USA = American Nightmare!!!

And for the fools that say they can read English (Poquito): this place has LOTS of media that’s NOT from US “of” A and even if they are, they can be inteligent media like the excelent films by Mr. Moore. Too bad as****es like you can’t watch it because mommy won’t sit next to you and help you “think”.

Hehe, dear Americans, whole world is laughing to you with your “alternative” medal count table. You’re the most pathetic nation on this planet. I can’t understand how you can be SOOOO stupid. :-(

This is the one and only way how to count medals. It ALWAYS been like this:

Nationalism was created by the elite to divide and control the human population. The Olympics is a propaganda tool to further enhance Nationalism, and everyone is falling for it.

While the brainwashed peons of one nation biker and war with the brainwashed peons of another nation, the elite, in their multiple mansion, sit back and live of the fruits of the peons labor.

  239. Ryan
    August 26th, 2008 | 09:52

lol yeh the tally is funny, im not that surprised that the american media would do it tho. The fact is success at the Olympics is dominated by how much money is put into development by a country. Better facilaties and more support = more gold. By this and per capita Australia wins ahahaha :P We had a gold coast life guard just head out to the olympics for fun and he wins a gold and a silver :) GW! Oh and yeh the judges are impartial and they have to be with world wide video coverage of the olympics.

  240. Ryan
    August 26th, 2008 | 09:58

Oh and why would everyone be getting up tight about underage commpetitors? The olympics is spose to be the best of the best, age doesnt really count. If you lose to someone because their better you can’t cry that their too young can you? lol The underage rule is there so that children don’t get put under to much pressure. Apart from that though of couse they should be allowed to compete if they are the best.

That table has been arranged just to make it look like the USA is the best lol Big number must mean big best eh? Only dumbass rednecks will fall for that one. Gold medals are all that matters and China pwned everyone. I was an Olympic Bronze Medalist once.. aha, like anyone would care about that. Gold or nothing.

Why do we have to hear all the pro-Americans going on about how THEY won the most amount of medals. That THEIR medal table should be arranged in that order so THEY are at the top.

We We We. Us Us Us.

What input did any person who has posted on this board have into the winning of any medal at the Olympics?

If there was an Olympic Medal for being a jism stained porn troll, then yes you may be in with a shout. Something tells me that that wont happen for a while.

Let’s all point and laugh at America. It’s a bit crap.

    August 26th, 2008 | 14:08

    @ man of the world-

First off, not all Americans voted for Bush so let’s cut the crap. As for the immigration laws, every single Country in the World has one. You can not enter a Country without a PASSPORT!
As for the Medal counts, yes China kicked some major Butt. Their national anthem was played the most on top of the podium’s. However, their Olympian’s are STATE funded. If you have any inclination of being an athlete the Country puts you into a paid program. Where as here in the US we actually have to pay quite a lot of money to raise an Olympian. Just ask the gymnasts or Michael Phelps. But enough ranting. Go OBAMA!

How does it feel to be hated by what? 6 billion people?

  246. And What
    August 26th, 2008 | 18:33

So, its funny the to hear the rest of the world complain and cry, but really what are you going to do about it………….. you know why we do it so you idiots don’t kill each other. And France don’t let me get started on yo u. So, instead of everyone trying to sneak across stay in your own country’s, maybe we wont have to have any immigration laws.

Screw the rest of the world
We may be hated by 6 billion but so what… let them cry and moan at home, who cares… I know America is not losing sleep over it… aw maybe you are…

Jokes on you ha ha ha
Stop crying already none of you were even in the Olympics…

    please let’s not be objective.

Truth is in the spirit of the Olympics, all the athletes and their respective countries did well.

However, it has to be agreed that the medal table should be sorted by gold and not total medals.

    That’s all it is.

    Till next Olympics. Can’t wait.
