The 2008 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, was a major international multi-sport event that took place in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, from August 8 (except football, which started on August 6) to August 24, 2008. ya Americas The Best!!!! lol except for our president
strange i saw at TV that China was 1st then USA…
Firworks creates really bad air quality, so I dunno why people insisted CG is a bad thing.
Anyway waiting for HQ.
Technically China is 1st because they have the most GOLD medals. USA just has more in total. Check out the link at the bottom.
The table should be sort by the Gold field, not the Total.
China is in first place.

re: the nukes on some of our Olympic pres. Most of the reported issues with
a few of our Olympic caps were problems inheritant with the NBC feed and we’re
not problems with our caps. If you’d rather not have the events, just say so
and next time we won’t waste our time or energy capping them when really, as a
group we could care less about the Olympics. Thanks and STFU – 2HD
@5 Total medals is what is all about and US had best performance. A great olympics but too many under age chinese gymnasts and ignorant bias judges.
I still think the Cuban martial artist kicking the ref and the official was hilarious. Bad time to have an outburst in front of the whole world, but hilarious.
LOL @ all the yanks. they can’t handle not being the best, so they re-arrange the medal tally to be the winners, when all that proves is that they are the second & third best at everything. China are the real winners.
If you were to have a look @ it from a population point of you, Australia had the most medals per capita…..
@13
1. Bahamas (2) – 153,725
2. Jamaica (11) – 254,939
3. Slovenia (5) – 401,542
4. Australia (46) – 447,844
5. New Zealand (9) – 463,717
6. Norway (10) – 464,445
7. Armenia (6) – 494,764
8. Cuba (22) – 519,270
9. Trinidad & Tobago (2) – 523,683
10. Belarus (18) – 538,097
America’s the second and third best…
China won.
lol did not expect any requests to die for that info, but sorry i think i’ll stick around. anyways thanks for the release Prez, wasn’t taking a dig at ya!
“If you were to have a look @ it from a population point of you, Australia had the most medals per capita.”
How much more of a hypocrite can you be? Accuse the Americans of re-arranging the rules (which they didn’t and can’t anyway, it’s about the viewer’s perspective) in order to make it look like they won, and then you go right ahead and try to suggest Australia is the best team because they won the most medals per capita. Your level of ignorance is astounding.
LOL@14 you must have too much time on your hands (or just no life at all).
i was just going off a SkyNews report. i didnt sit there and work it all out
LOL

yes, i am accusing the yanks of being sore loosers.
and no, im not suggesting the aussies are the best. personally, i couldnt care less about the olympics, and if you open your eyes before accusing me of crap, i did say i got it off a SkyNews report (that will teach me to watch them again).
chewie – you must have been bored to do such maths
anyway, i’ curious about some chinese sportsmen, for about those 2 swimmers (women)…. what about drugs commission??
Two words… Michael Phelps….
China is first with 51 Gold medals

Two more words…. Stephanie Rice!!!
@21 that guy is severely disfigured and what can I say about dumb hicks.
Any nbc broadcasts going to be available soon? Thanks.
lol@Canada.
ESPN has historically ranked by gold as well, till this year. So, yeah, conclusion: Chinese are competitive, Americans are competitive too. This year China’s on top.
Maybe they should just list medals by alphabet.
I heard that America invented a new style of medal table which features the total medals each country has got in the olympic history,so it will make sure that America can stay on top of it for a really long long time before they invent something more interesting.
also found an intereting suggestion that we should have a point based system for the medal table,e.g. gold gets 3 points, silver gets 2 and bronze get 1.
China is #1 this time round so sorry to the USA
but that is live some you loose and some you win.
Why are the US media outlets the only ones that report the medal tally in the non-standard format that puts them on top.
And, yes, it has ALWAYS been the accepted standard to base the tally on the number of gold medals
lolol at the medal count being arranged at total medals
dw, everyone knows china dominated these olympics and were the superior country
@11
The judges weren’t really bias, Olympics judges don’t just come from China.
The Chinese “may” have used underage gymnasts, however there has been no solid proof as of yet. Yes they may have looked a little too young, however my Chinese hairdresser is like 45 but she looks like shes 30.
Even if they were underage, i really don’t see the problem with that. I only see the underage part as being a “handicap” on china’s side. Lets say those girls are 13yrs old, they have only had 13 yrs or less to practice their sport. Where as the girls from USA are a lot older, they have had so many more years to perfect their form. Therefore in the end the Americans just cannot stand that they lost to kids who have had less training than they have.
Pretty sad that the Americans cannot accept the loss, even after China giving them a handicap.
Can someone toss me a video or links or news paper articles or anything that gives an example of how the Americans cant handle not being the best?
Am I missing it here?, Apparently arranging the medals to most medals and not most gold medals means Americans can not handle not being the best?
America didn’t win…It just doesn’t work like that people.
China won 51 gold medals whereas the United States won only 36 gold medals.
Now honestly 2 Bronze medals don’t even come close to a Gold meaning your NUMBER 1 in the WORLD at that sport.
I’m an Australian and I think China kicked ASS!! Well done China, this was an awesome Olympic games! Opening and closing where awesome and no major dramas at all.
If USA wants to think they won then good on them! I see no Winners or losers. It was a great two weeks of sport!
Go Bolt! 9.69 second 100M was AWESOME
nice ranking
too bad medals total count for nothing
Where exactly is everyone seeing this arranging by total and not gold at?
US news? perhaps a US news website? a US paper? I do find it strange that US news, US websites and US papers are arranging the medals by total, since the US has the most medals and all, I’d imagine Chinese news, websites and papers are arranging them by gold since they have the most golds and all
ok everybody that is chinese can speak their mind.if your not chinese quit hating you didnt do any better.
USA kicks ass..
go phelps!
All of Europe, Australia AND Asia… I think the ENTIRE world actually ranks the medal tally by number of Golds!
Only the Americans fudge the table their way… who would have guessed!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dssKVDxA96Y
wasnt it expected.. US US all the way… olympics.. hmm.. yes thth too…

USA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>all other countries admit it all other countries are inferior
and it was a very good olympics usa wins another never in doubt poor canada almost no medals can canada top 54 billion spent in china doubt it
Well, well, well : if it isn’t the damn Yanks trying to bend the rules to make them look good again.
Your medal table is wrong. It is always by golds.
I don’t know why everyone is always so eager to have a go at America, and always taking satisfaction from the thought of China beating them. Yes they abuse their power sometimes, that’s what powerful nations do, but if you think rooting for the day China is more powerful than America makes sense then you’re in for a rude awakening. They won’t have any compunctions about misusing their power, ffs even now everyone can see the implicit threats they make, watch all the western leaders kowtowing to them in a way they would never be forced to by America. Seriously, better the devil you know.
LOL@all the haters hating on America! Whether you like it or not, America WON THE MOST NUMBER OF MEDALS! How many did your country win? LOL Keep hating on us, it wont help the sh!tty country you live in. REMEMBER THIS, AMERICA IS THE RICHEST AND MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!
USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!
the usa can’t take it that they didnt win, hence the re-arrangement of the medal tally. its always been like that with them, just look at the war in iraq, its all about being the biggest superpower and trying to rule over other smaller countries, weapons of mass destruction my ass…
and phelps? pfft who cares, i have a lot of respect that he won 6 individual and 2 team gold medals, but usain bolt is the real talk of the olympics, to take the double on the track is far more prestigious, and i know id rather be able to run fast then swim fast.
LOL at the yanks, the only country in the world to suddenly rearrange the table by total medals and not Gold. God they are such sore losers. They cant even handle coming second. As previously mentioned, if you divide the gold medals by population per capita, Australia won… not that it changes the medal table, its just an interesting fact that a country with so few people can do so well.
The table has never been ranked by total, so don’t sit there and kid yourself into thinking its normal.
Well done to China, they seriously kicked ass this year.
poor americans, they’re always “the best”, and “>all other countries” lol…
feed google with “beijing 2008″ and cry …
You surely could say America comes 1st in 2nd and 3rd places
This is really pathetic what US media does in here…

so total medal doesn’t count?
maybe it would but not like this for sure…
because gold and silver medal doesnt value same…!
but i guess you can count like this though;
1 Gold = 3 Silver
1 Silver = 3 Bronze
So China = 550 bronze worth of medals
USA = 474 bronze worth of medals
This would be fair maybe… China still wins on total too BTW…
(I’m from a totally different country)
Typical of USA to want to feel their no.1, o no but they aint, lets be honest…why are other countries counting by gold medals?
mmm US US US, you freaking came 2nd…deal with it
lol @ America rearranging the list. It’s always been the total of gold, not the total of medals.
@14, now do the division by gold and not total, Jamaica would be the only ones close to Australia. It’s not surprising, Australia is the worlds sporting nation and we did poorly this time compared to previous. If only we had the fraction of the funding that others have.
BACK ON TOPIC EVERYONE!!!!
Are there any 720p or 1080p rips yet? English is preferred.
Did you people notice how Michael Phelps was a king and was all the media talked about, and when Usain Bolt ran the 100m, we never heard of Phelps again? Haha. Phelps is great, but for me, Bolt is the king of the Olympics because he pulverized everyone else.
what american douchebag made this medall table?
Gold is all what matters at the games, who will ever remember in 2 weeks who came second after Usain Bolt?
heck, i allready forgot!
I don’t know if it is just some of the rlslog pages but I can’t post comments on other ones.
It says the spam protection was entered wrong. But it has been right…
I love how the entire planet bar the USA ranks it by Golds as opposed to total medals won.
Yes the Chinese benefitted from some dodgy officiating and possibly underage gymnasts, but as hosts they were always going to get the hometown advantage. Hopefully us Brits will have the same ‘luck’ in 2012 and we could make the top 3!
USA SUCKS and it came 2nd not first…
USA SUCKS
BUSH SUCK
USA’s Foreign Policies Sucks
Fuccking yanks
You know, it’s unreal at the ignorant assumptions some Americans seem to make time and again.
As if trying to rig the Olympics so that their population would not be disadvantaged for network broadcast times – and to hell with the rest of the world if it means America got their transmissions of their Olympic events in prime time – now it seems they have to rig the medal table to make it look like they won the Olympics?
Does America’s hypocrisy – and the ignorance of the patriotic, chest thumping ignoramuses who reside therein know any limits at all?
China won – and all the unconvincing Yank fervor will do not one thing to change that.
I know declare the European Union winner of the olympics! -> http://fcohen.fr/jo/
its all down to how you look at it. be honest, if you had a choice of chinas medals in a pile and usa’s in a pile next to it, i know i would and probably most of the usa would want the one with more golds.
All-time medals to date (sorted by gold)
Gold Silver Bronze Total
USA 930 730 638 2298
USSR 395 319 296 1010
GBR 207 255 253 715
France 191 158 174 523
Italy 191 158 174 523
China 163 117 106 386
Plus another 78 gold for a grand total of 1008 gold medals…
So all u haters STFU, we almost have as many golds as the next 4 countries put together!!!
HAHAHAHaHAHHAHaHAha China was 1st. The count order is by Gold medals, no total medals. XD
*additional 78 Golds from Winter Olympics
USA lost this battle with China …, next time China probably get 3/4 of whole medals …, they just have many to chose from …
@LexInEffect comment 62 ….
How un-American and unexpected … drowning a succint, specific Olympic Games and topic with the grandeur of overall achievement.
Overall gold medal totals are not part off this discussion or topic.
Where did you get the extra 78 golds? Why not make it a neat 100? Or even 1000?
Think about the real achievers in countries that have fractions off the population and budget of America … oh wait, I’m actually asking you to think outside of America – a completely foreign concept for you, and one that seems beyond your ability to embrace.
It’s a WORLD games .. understand that? And sorry to burst your bubble LexInEffect, but America is NOT the world, and certainly does not speak for or show itself up as the model for this world to follow.
US won, just like they did in Iraq.
Oops…
But seriously, the list IS generally based on the amount of gold medals. This means China came out first, which is no surprise since they were the organizing country and are just damn good!
It’s about the gold, not the silver or bronze.
is it me or is it only americans that think they won, and the rest of the world know that china won
No 720p as of yet. I’m waiting for it to pre as well. I wanna see this (yet to watch).
Where are you all getting this total count arrangement from…any ways my two cents are that US have been 1st in total count for awhile since 1996 but just this year they did not have as many gold medals to show…
2008 – 110 total(36 gold)
2004 – 103 total (35 gold)
2000 – 97 total (40 gold)
1996 – 101 total (44 gold)
…so before that it was between russia (U.S.S.R) and US for first place…..
if sore losers was a sport, usa would have another gold medal, still less than china
I have always liked the US and Americans, but that Medal tally with 36 USA golds beating 51 Chinese just only tells the rest of the world that Americans will tell any lie come out on top. Gold does not equal silver and it certainly doesn’t equal bronze.
The IOC knows who won, so does the rest of the world. Tell yourselves what you want, you just look ungratious in defeat, and take the shine off some truly amazing sporting achievments.
@sweetchuk on 66…
He just can accept the fact dont mind him, his brain needs to find some excuse, an exit strategy to digest of this not being 1st or the center of the world fact…
but also proving the fact that americans can’t handle loosing…
the reason China won is because of HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
yea but the total medal count is the final tally… whether you hate to admit it or not… its an OVERALL competition if it wasnt there would be a gold … silver … or bronze… better luck next time in london 2012…
Now to show the list with the EU on top
Gold Silver Bronze Total
1 European Union 87 101 92 280
2 China 51 21 28 100
3 United States 36 38 36 110
4 Russian Fed. 23 21 28 72
5 Australia 14 15 17 46
6 Korea 13 10 8 31
7 Japan 9 6 10 25
8 Ukraine 7 5 15 27
9 Jamaica 6 3 2 11
10 Kenya 5 5 4 14
So many anti-America people here. I just hope some day, America will withdraw all troops AND foreign aids from the rest of the world and become an isolationist. Let the world deal with China, the new superpower. Let see how you people will like it.
….further research has shown that total medal counts determine winner…..every Olympics except 2008, 1912 and 1896 Olympics where the country won by most medals but not most gold….all other years the winning country has most gold and overall total….
….check out the 1912 Olympics….US has the most gold but they were ranked second because of the total medal count….
Wrong medal count! China should be on top
China was the host. China also won the most gold medals. Coincidence?
@ 50
Or you can count like this:
1 Gold = 3 Bronze
1 Silver = 2 Bronze
1 Bronze = 1 Bronze
So, US’s bronze medals 220, China’s bronze medals 223… And… China still wins on total too BTW
!
@sweetchuk
What part of my comment made you believe that thinking out side of the US is “a completely foreign concept for you, and one that seems beyond your ability to embrace.” Just because I stick up for my country? I’m sick of everyone always hating on the Americans! The athletes who competed didn’t publish the tally you’re all refering to…they’re not invading foreign countries… whatever everyone’s beef is with the US, these athletes have nothing to do with it. And if you read a few more posts you would have seen that the 78 additional medals are from Winter Olympics…
And for your information I was born in Latvia and spent more than half my life living all across the world and I have friends and family all over the world. So I am perfectly capable of thinking “outside the US”… I have friends and family all over the world.
So next time don’t assume, it makes you look foolish.
@Tom – comment 77
So do I Tom … then the world might actually get a chance to shrug itself of the IOU factor that America and champions of that country’s ‘benevolence’ seem to regurgitate to all us ‘lesser’countries.
So it goes back to being isolationist … same as it was before pretty much the end of WW1, before 1/3rd into WWII, and how would the world be a worse off place because of that?
And how did this discussion turn from America trying to fudge the figures on actual gold medals won in this Olympics and its place on the medal tally as a result, to the erroneous assumption that America thinks it is the international economic and military shining light for the rest of the world, which is most certainly is not!
ill give china this…. their closing ceremony was MAGNIFICENT… and also china spent 40 BILLION (yes billion) for these games… and for that i applaud them and i dont think london in 2012 OR anyone else will be able to follow that…
this chart is wrong bcz we collect the gold first if it is draw collect the silver and this chart make usa first bcz of total and this wrong
ronaldinho say the second like the last haha
so hard luck USA about this huge silver medal i hope in second time will be better
bye
Tom@77 There are an awful lot of us non-Americans, who are not anti-American who are hoping for the day when America will withdraw all troops and let the rest of us get on and live as soverign nations without having to first considder what we do in the light of what “the Americans” might think. There is a time to interveine and there is a time to step back and let things happen, and it seems the US rarely gets it right.
The US is powerful and certainly is one of the most generous nations on earth, but power and generosity are not an excuse for arrogance and an ignorant refusal to listen to other points of view.
What troops. Only troops you got are those protecting oil. I don’t see any US troops protecting any country. The fact you are warmongering country occupying others and taking their resources doesn’t make you world protectors.
The only country that needed protection from you was Gergia, and we can see how well you protected them!
Lol @67.. tht made me laugh.. and @74.. China won because they were too good..and not cause of home court advantage.. if u are american learn not to b sore losers.. really.. i actually laughed seeing the medal tally ranked according to total medal.. how low can a country sink..?…
This must be world wide festival/feast for the sociologists
watching it live; all of a nations complete ignorance…
@87 – Bobo … sing it brother!
While you’re at it, throw in Burma, whose plight has long been ignored by the almighty, all conquering United States, because of the lack of oil there to fuel its militaristic and national ambitions.
Meanwhile, the democratic principles America so eloquently recites us walks silently past the incredible suffering of the Burmese under a very Saddam-like rule of the junta.
World protectors my foot. Not if it doesn’t suit them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Summer_Olympics_medal_table
Therefore, the total number of bronze medals is greater than the total number of gold or silver medals.
So if the US would have won all the bronze medals and no silver or gold, you still would think they are the best, because they have the most medals?
Third place is always the best, you clearly remember the third man walking on the moon, you know, Charles something!

If you all hate America so much you should boycott us, and you can start by taking those American Intel and AMD CPUs out of your computers so we don’t have to listen to you anymore…
Look at all of these collectivists bickering over something they had no involvement in.
Individualism FTW
Viva la Libertarianism!
To comment no. 98.
Do you really think that European or other highly advanced nations couldn’t make CPU’s or any other PC component for that mattter?
Do you think that if America was removed from the equation, other more likely beneficial technologies wouldn’t develop and flourish?
Don’t delude yourself into thinking America is the be all and end all, because it really isn’t.
If you think that, I’ve got a nice bridge in the middle of the Sahara desert to sell you.
123456@93 Intel and AMD both manufacture their CPUs in Mainland China and Taiwan, so it looks like China wins again
@realitybites
No ofcourse I don’t think that, but we would get a nice break until you start making your own
@123456
A nice break? America relies on international sales of those CPU’s, amongst other international trade, to try to prop up its sagging and nearly stuffed economy as it is.
Removal of those sales would be about as helpful to America as its doomed to fail attempts at trying to claim these Olympics as a win!
But maybe it might be fun to see America start from the beginning again. It might learn the lessons of humility and honesty in dealings, rather than recite them to a world already by and large practicing them.
This a noob table…
The position is calculate on Gold Medal not on Medals count…
So China is the first by faaaaaaaar and since the few first days…
dah… >.>
@Quantas08
What matters more, who designed them or where they’re made? Maybe we should credit all the medals to China, since they were all won on Chinese soil…
@46 and @54
All these Aussies bashing the Americans yet coming out with their own per capita table which is wrong anyway as Australia isn’t on top either!
Then they complain about the lack of funding, yet Australia spends far more money on the olympics than most other countries! So on a per dollar basis, Australia does very poorly when compared to the Eastern Europeans, like Russia, Slovenia etc. along with Cuba, the African countries etc.
@123456 on 97
You mean you’d need some time to keep up right?
coz you know that none of those products are manufacturing in US…
BTW AMD is Germany originated and essambled in dressden…
Bad luck yankees, got beaten by China with the better athletes.
Got the times changed to match your night time viewing and changed the medal table to suit yourselves, pretty poor (although expected) form.
@123456
You better get rid of all that oil you use.
Oh, we wouldn’t want you all to die..would we..
We would have to keep some as village idiots.
NoMercy
I don’t know where you get your info AMD is an American company based in Sunnyvale
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/AboutAMD/0,,51_52,00.html
And as I said before we manufacture in China because it’s cheaper, not because we’re incabable…
@101
prove it.
LOL
you guys are funny!
dint u think ur countries would rearrange the medal total to make them on top?
that is if they ever won enough medals!
the states has 110 athletes that are in the top 3 best in the world
how many does ur country have
and if u look at the 2000 and 2004 olympics ull find that those are ranked by most medals aswell
so this is nothing new!
but whatever
u wana hate on a country greater than urs
meh thats ok
#107 lean how to spell

How do we expect a big place such as our world to be a better place when even in one internet site there are already too much argument?
All I wanna see is the download links (preferably MU) so I can download and watch the closing ceremony.
PS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_medal_rankings
very interesting chapter right at the end
it umm starts with
US media has historically ranked countries in an ‘overall total’ manner, with all medals being added up and a ranking based on which country has the greatest number.[4] Before 2008, this difference in ranking system received scant notice, since in recent olympic history the country that led in total medals also led in the gold count. China and the US bucked this trend in 2008.[4][5]
but hey what can you do?
Why is US the No.1?
Is 110 bronze medals better than 100 gold ones?
Some thoughts..
A silver or bronze medal means you did not win..
Coming ‘close’ second (USA) with a population of a billion less isn’t that bad, is it..?
Most Americans are too dumb to use a computer..
Half of American products are of the worst quality..
A combined European army would be bigger & better than the whole North- & Central American Continent’s combined armies..
America is on the verge of bankrupc, because of inferior logical capabilities & short term thinking (or is that long for US standards?)
McCain will be your ending..
US’ karma is the worst on this planet.. (go Yellowstone caldera)
& stop building your dumbass houses with wood, you frackin’ parasites.
this getting out of hand read the title and get over it that usa rules. yeah were getting oil in iraq and what? do something bout it you cant..hell if russia went through georgia with the quickness i say we go through each country in europe. no european countries in top 3…sad.
Since china cheated US wins..
“A combined European army” that buys all it’s weapons from the US
I cant wait for the para Olympics, Bring on the quadruple amputee swimming……I’ll get my coat…
Just because people point out that according to Gold medal count China came first and the U.S second doesn’t mean they hate the U.S. It means they disagree with the claim that the U.S. won the Olympics.
On a side note, Australians are a nation of some 20 Million on the worlds biggest island and that makes us somewhat insecure about our place in the world. That’s why we were disappointed in our performance at the games and there’s no real need to be. All countries did well to be able to compete on a world stage and we should all be proud of that.
Except for the Kiwis, there’s no hope for them.
Wow sad to change the table to make the count look better for America and to pretend you won… can someone say sore losers?
“Officially, no country wins the Olympic Games. Patterned on their Greek models, each event is an individual contest of which the winner is an individual or a specialized team. Any effort to rate Olympic performances in national units raises questions of procedure such as whether the sport of Running, backbone of the Olympics, with 14 major subdivisions, should be given the same importance as the sport of Canoeing.”
C’mon people, think of your own country first before patronizing China and America. We kiss American products too much (same with products from China). If we do this all the time, then mostly likely our own countries will fall down.
im sure if the olympics were in Mexico, then Mexico would have more Golds, or if it was in Canada, then they would have more Golds. Staged.
watchthis p*ssy wieghtlifter>> http://ballhype.com/video/janos_baranyai_weightlifting_mishap_1/
You know, the second is the first loser.
So just because you have more losers than china doesn’t make you the winner.
You win in losing against china, I give you that.
Bloody sneaky Russians! We should have finished 3rd! Here in Britain the US came second because we just use the number of gold medals and the only reason you use the total number of medals is because you have more of a chance at winning.
Anyway we did really well for a country our size, Russia’s got 3 times the population, US has 6 times and China has 23 times the population of us.
This was Swedens worst year ever, and still we were better than India. What’s with that? India should be one of the top countries, no?
That table is wrong. China won, America lost.
I find it amazing that the US did as good as they did, since Russia and China damn-near beat, over-work and shame their athletes into being the “best”. American athletes are much more fragmented, but somehow come together to be at the top.
Don’t get me wrong, there is pressure for American athletes, but probably nowhere near as much as their is for Russia and
Chinese athletes. The US has it’s problems, but god help us
if China or Russia ever calls the shots on the world stage,
might as well say goodbye to your countries because
they BOTH don’t give a sh*t about rolling in and enslaving you!
@ LOL – What American weapons? Eurofighter Typhoon? Leopard 2A6? Steyr AUG/H&K G-36? Goalkeeper? These are all best in class & the list is endless.
We can also easily spot your stealth-planes & ships with our APAR/Smart-L. Face it, we are simply way beyond your capabilities.. Rheinmetall AG? Thales Group? Diehl BGT Defence? EADS? Matra? RUAG? FN Herstal? etcetcetc.
Just get your facts straight.
it will not be so controversial to talk about the medal table when you see the south korea’s version where their courtry’s name is always listed at the top, to which comes the north korea and then China, USA, etc.

No pass, crack included
they should figure out how many medals are won per inhabitant of a country.
now china wins because they can pick out of 1.3 billion people plus they use iron discipline on way too young kids.
my 2 cents anyway.
If ur jets are so good, why do u keep buying ours?
megaupload or/and megashares link please
China was impressive. No question their medal count is superior. What interests me most is the Aussies and the Redcoats seem really excited about this. Driving a sort of anti-Americanism throughout this post. I’m hoping sometime in the near future the USA reverts back to her days of isolationism, ya know, pre-WWII…deferring her superpower status, by default, to China. Australia wouldn’t last a week. I saw British combat troops in Iraq. I give them a week and a half. And for the record, the US media has ALWAYS counted total medals first. You just didn’t notice because we would’ve been on top either way.
Proud to be european… number 1 as always.
@European
Right, except for those thousands of years you were slaughtering each other.
Whitout Phelps Russia would almost beat America..
Gotta say well done to the uk this time theres only 65 million of us and we still came 4th well done UK I say
There are only a couple of European countries (or rather political parties) left that believe your childish sales-pitch, or that are simply being pressurized through economical- or emotional bonds, but as we all can see (for example with your overpriced/underachieving JSF) this bubble is bursting bigtime..
The Separated States of Hypocrisy s_cked d1ck from china and jamaica

American’s CANT REALLY get over the Olympics, they cant accept that CHINA, an ASIAN country could beat them in number of GOLD medals… Most Americans(especially WHITES) feel they’re superior over other races & color, but in fact, they are one of the dumbest people in the world, 3 of 5 american youth cant even locate their country in the world map….
THE TALLY posted here was arranged by the TOTAL NUMBER of medals because the blogger/poster don’t want to see U.S.A is below CHINA. The Number of Gold matters not the total number of medals… Even YAHOO posted “THE REAL” medal TALLY just to prove US is ALWAYS above CHINA… YOU RACIST!
Americans just find an excuse to make them on the top of the list. HOW LAME isn’t? Im sure, on the 2012 London Olympics, China wont be able to do this again ‘coz flying athletes to other countries could be really costly…
Well guys, lets USA be the most no 2 & 3. Let them be happy. I always thought that no 1 that gold medal is the winner. Who cares about how many medals you have if they are not gold. Maybe a country with 120 bronze (with 0 gold & silver) wins the olympic next time. USA maybe? Just a thought…
“So many anti-America people here. I just hope some day, America will withdraw all troops AND foreign aids from the rest of the world and become an isolationist. Let the world deal with China, the new superpower. Let see how you people will like it.”
Bingo! We don’t hear “thanks” very much, but we sure hear ‘f*ck you’ a lot. Time for us to go home and let the ungratefuls deal with their own bullies and problems. Darfur–get on it EU, we’re waiting..
Haha USA Facked By China
Hilarious, just to quote this;
“Total medals is what is all about and US had best performance. ”
Thats from an American, saying getting the gold isnt what its all about… Thats a first.
BTW
Ive read somewhere that, taken into account population and GDP, Jamaica is first
I can’t believe what the american media telling its people!!!

Maybe China should just stop buying American debt and see how the US deals with that. The US could never become isolationists because as much as they would like to deny it they need us. Also how many of the countries that have US troops actually want them there. I know that they aren’t really welcome most of the places they go so maybe they should leave.
the only thing that matter to aussies is that Great britian beat us in the gold medal count
the ’sun newspaper’ sent a ‘billboard car’ around london to rub it into us

hheeehh @ 150
First of all, you suck and are probably a pedophile. Secondly whatever country you’re from, it’s the worst place in the world to live.
P.S. You’re also fat.
Rearranging the overall list…
How sad.
Why isn’t the official IOC one posted in the main article?
What a crappy table. Who in the world is interested in summing up different things as if they were equal? i.e. gold, silver and bronze? It’s like stating some guy is richer because he owns 4 notes of 1 USD$ when comparing to this other guy who has only 3 notes of 10 USD$.
China was the big winner of this olympics. Period. Not proud of it, by the way, but that’s just what it was.
So what was great about watching a bunch of drug addicts running around. (and that was just the horses)
maybe next time they should remove the names of the countries and replace them with communist, capitalist, liberalist, facist, etc. etc…
To all americans just keep on support israel thats all you can do… selfish people!
China is atleast REAL, and they do what they say and they dont have a bad habit of putting their nose in other people’s affairs.
America are the real Terrorists!!!
jimmy page rocked!
lol usa always counted the gold… now all of sudden they count all of the medals… epic fail usa.
i see!!! this olympic games started a new era, a new way of view the games, from now on all the countrys will focus only in bronze medals since what matters is just a medal and not its kind. thanks US(=bad losers) for open our eyes!

while I don’t agree with that, USA has been using this ordering for ages.
They have alsways had their list by the TOTAL MEDALS since 1896 so stfu all.
China won, get over it iraq rapist.
USA fails… again.

hahaha China have more gold medals than USA. Good job chinese.
Bottom line is if American economy sneezes, other parts of the world are affected as well. Check out the stock markets around the world in the last year.
Oh yes, I wish either Obama or McCain would have the balls to turn the country into an isolationist. No more troops stationed overseas, no more foreign aids sent to other countries (and that includes Israel). Then we Americans can focus on improving our own country. Then you anti-America people can deal with Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and problems in Africa all by yourselves.
It is simplistic to think that winning a gold medal is the purpose of the Olympics. What if a country sweeps an event, which Jamaica and US and A did several times. Should you punish the silver and bronze medalists? I think not! Anyone who won a medal is a winner.
Birdflu1 The point is that China were the BEST at more events than anyone else. It isn’t just “gold”, it’s FIRST. That means while sure, bronzes and silvers are to be commended, China WON more events. How many people “almost won” is completely irrelevant. You don’t win a tournament in something like motor racing by coming second and third a lot, you have to win.
Nice to see all the america haters here! The only place to see more america haters will be in Denver tonight!
@all
The chart is posted as just the “MEDAL COUNT” not who is first, second or third. Clearly the USA is first in the total of medals but China won more gold which puts them in first place just like any other competition. I have saw the overall medal count just like this since the 1984 Olympics. They show both usually, overall medal count and order by place.
Just about everyone argued for nothing. Congrats…
Let’s put our keystrokes to good use next time. Maybe we could find a cure for arthritis!
you people need to stop it you make the word Olympiad loose all meaning
enough with the medals crap sure gold is great winning is amazing but eh Olympics is about more than your stupid argument
Grow up
So many childish remarks. There is a vast difference between a population and its government. Not one of us does not have a corrupt and power/wealth seeking government. The leaders of government and industry do not seek power in order to be benevolent. They want it at any cost. If you think your government is not just as corrupt as any other, then you are spending too much time in a stupor of ignorance.
The major world powers view the Olympics as a political tool to manipulate the ignorant. Fighting amongst ourselves over petty issues while allowing them to take more and more of our freedoms and power away from us is just what they want.

“The ranking table is based on information provided by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The ranking sorts by the number of gold medals the athletes from a nation have earned (in this context, a “nation” is an entity represented by a National Olympic Committee). The number of silver medals is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze medals. If nations are still tied, equal ranking is given and they are listed alphabetically by IOC country code.”
It always amazes me that US citizens genuinely believe that they live in the greatest Country in the world. A country with the highest murder rate out of all the Western Democracies, a Country in which your citizens have to pay for healthcare, a Country with one of the poorest education standards and one of the highest rates of poverty and drug abuse!
I’m sure the USA is a great place to be wealthy, not so great if you are poor though………….
BTW To the Aussies reading this: Team GB FTW!!!! HAHAHAHA

Hahaha.. Well done THIS time! just like the Ashes… we’ll be back on top soon enough…
See you in London! I hope to be there myself in 2012.. Hopefully it eclipses the spectacle that was Beijing 2008 which was SPECTACULAR.
So, the Americans think they came first? hahahahahaha. Sorry, but it is GOLD medals that count. Sure, winning more overall medals is a very good performance but to say it is just as important to come second or third as it is to come first is just plain stupid. Let me guess, Americans came second in Vietnam does that make them winners?.
Talk about sore losers.
@1 ROCK, do the math, it’s a matter of simple logistics.
If you pick your baseball team out of 10 guys lined up on the fence, you can build a pretty good team.
If you pick your baseball team out of 100 guys lined up on the fence, you have a pretty good shot at beating the other guys.
The only reason China doesn’t clean up on all the games is because, despite the population, only a small portion of them can afford or have the opportunity to pursue a life of athletics.
If only your citizen’s overall mentality and intellect reflected your ability to play sports, you’d actually be onto something, instead of being the world’s laughing stock.
At @98 relitybites:
“lessons of humility and honesty in dealings, rather than recite them to a world already by and large practicing them.”
LOL, you were talking about Americans, weren’t you?
Sure, that’ll happen; Elvis was in 7-11 this morning.
1000 silver medals does not outweight one gold medal!
America is celebrating failure and defeat by giving silver and bronze equal standing to Victory
Here’s your medal table:
China – 51 Victories
America – 36 Victories

Good to see America on top again…
your either first or last… sorry china
maybe you will be as good as us someday.. unlikely of course
America’s best days are clearly behind it
If we were to follow American logic, and China had won 50 Gold, 0 Silver and 0 Bronze, but America had won 60 Bronze, 0 Gold and 0 Silver, America would claim they beat China!!!
You’re content to invade poor, pathetically weak countries like Iraq/Afghanistan, and yet you quake in your boots before Russia!

You people do understand that the Olympics are a big meaningless joke right?
The fact that most of the sports aren’t actually sports should have tipped you off really.
That’s what makes China’s determination to show the world that they are supposedly awesome so down-right pathetic. They don’t even understand that most people don’t watch and don’t care about the Olympics.
I am a Chinese American – my parents were born in America, but all grandparents were born in China. The USA is not what it used to be, and a lot of countries have surpassed the USA in both educational and moral standards in the last 20 or so years.
The same goes for the sports – clearly the World has caught up and surpassed the USA in many areas. In the USA, most people don’t care if we are not on top of _all_ sports – only the ones that they feel are important to the masses – like basketball are really important to most.
So I think that we Americans are fine with the World being dominant in the majority of sports – just as long as we win at least a couple of “popular” sports.
However one ratio test that we _may_ lead in: how many people want to immigrate to our country vs. how many people want to leae our country.
Please feel free to suggest your country as an alternative.
I certainly have become less proud of our policies in the last 10 years or so, but I still would not want to live anywhere else. I’m sure a lot of people feel the same about their countries, too.
So let’s just agree to disagree for now…
FLAME ME NOW!
Thanks,
dw
You Americans are arrogant, not know or count the medals table of the world as a whole does. What go first is always the medals of Gold, and then the silver and bronze. Strangely, only after you have taken binladen in their buildings and places, arrogant, is that you started to count wrong, and seeing that is no longer the SUPERPOTÊNCIA do you think they are. Then learn to count, their donkeys.
Americans Dunce…god save the binladen to kill u.s !!!
Why is it so hard to comprehend: Gold = Win, anything else (silver, bronze, 4th 5th place etc) = Lose!
The USA’s total loss was the biggest (silver+bronze) – maybe they are proud of that but it just doesn’t count
@204
amen.
It’s funny how so many people hate the US but yet they’re here looking for links to what is almost all US-made media.
I’d like to see you whiny brats go one year without any kind of US media; no TV, movies, music, games, websites, and so on. I bet ya can’t do it.
You just sit there and hate us all day long and pretend that you’re smarter and better all the while there’s little ole you eating McDonald’s and watching Fight Club before you fire up Halo or Gears on your Xbox 360.
You know how I know that you all secretly love US made media? You’ve taken the time to learn the English language (sort of) and some of you can even type it out pretty well. (not really…Roger)
You didn’t learn English so that you could watch Eastenders now did you? Nope, you learned English because it’s the language of media and the language of business and I’m not in the least bit worried about offending anyone by sweeping them into that wide net because those genuine people can’t understand a word of what I just typed out.
The ultimate irony of your hateful comments is that you yourself are just as addicted to and in love with US media as the rest of world. If you weren’t then you wouldn’t be here looking for it all the damn time.
Yeah, yeah, so America is #2. How did YOUR country do? Russia is a distant #3. The rest of the world? Way down there.
man they should give out one medal…gold. This will end all the charades. You either come in 1st and win or lose.
as a guy said before – if we were to look at total medals – we might as well look at per capita medals – or team sport medals, or any other statistic… in the end – its about who won the most…
china won the most… and #207… don’t worry – i look forward to my children searching chinese sites in the future to find beijingwood movies etc…
china beat you at sports and economy… they’ll come around entertainment wise soon enough.
Go ahead and hate the policies and the politicians; just be sure to keep consuming US media as it’s what is actually destroying your culture.
Great job on taking away from the athletes that actually competed in the games. To the Chinese American, I am also proud to live in a country with many others cultures and races are welcomed and agree with not wanting to go back to my Grandparents origin. If America is so bad that why is everyone trying to come here, of course for the “AMERICAN DREAM”

We all saw the medal trackers that said the United States and China were dominating the Olympics.
Great for them, but consider this — the U.S. has a population of 303,824,646 (according to July 2008 estimates on the CIA World Factbook Web site), and China is home to 1,330,044,605 people. That’s a pretty big pool of athletes to pick from.
What about Bahrain? It has only 718,306 potential Olympians.
So we’ve decided to award a prize to the country that won the most medals per people in its home country.
And the winner is … (sorry, you have to scroll down to the bottom)

Somewhere, Nikolai Volkov is sadly nodding his head in agreement.
how about kenya?? they are the poorest guys and the have a good amount of gold medals, without money!!! that is heart!!!
Obviously the poster must be a yank… how f*ckin typical..
Unbelievable – ever since we have had medal tables, the coulntry with the most gold medals tops it… Now the USA has come second NBC changes the table!!! Under their formula, winning three golds is worse than winning four bronzes, Incredible. get a grip US
Sry but the list is all whrong!!!! China was 1st not the USA. To bad…
You don’t win silver, you lose gold.
HAHAHA at america and lol at them doing what they do best and fixing it.
Jimi Page’s face looked like it had been squashed and like about 75 years old; shoulda had Jeff Beck there instead.
The REAL Olympic medal count
http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Update-The-REAL-Olympic-medal-count?urn=oly,102540
USA RULES!!!!!!!!!! The rest of the world SUCK!!!!!!!!!
America reinvent the medal table, it a pity…
To all American ignorant, you live in a country ruled by a few, press is censored everyday, presidential election are manipulated, you go declare war if your get profit out of it. There is no more democracy in the US since JFK……. So know ask yourself do you still think that America is better than China?
By the way i’m french, i don’t especially like Chinese but I hate the ignorance in your country. I love America because its a great country and there is still hope because I do believe that a lot people are not blind, they just need to increase there number.
So long China won the Olympics…
@207
I personally do noT hate US, what we hate is Your damn government which is ruining the world, attacking toother countries while speaking about democracy and human rights and human dignity …
that’s what people hate
Pmsl at that table^
Yanks need to accept China beat them with the medal ‘that really counts’, and by some distance this time. Yanks are bad as Australia; who used the ‘we have more medals’ excuse versus the British halfway through Olympics, only for the brits to end up beating them on total count aswell, lol.
The Table is wrong. It counts first the golden medals, so the winner is China.
and now comes the drug testing…lol. i refuse to watch this crap. worst of all, i cant believe the companies are forcing watchers to look at all the crap endorsements.
any rs links for 720p
am I missing something or is this a CN website, I did not surf the web for other site but a lot of criticism on this forum for USA posting metal by total but this is a CN website so some posters just seem to be hating for the sake of it.
51 gold medals for China, USA 36, wtf with that table list?
So, everyone seems to be upset. Let’s just say that both China AND the US kicked ass, isn’t that fair? As for all the America haters. Face it, if your county was being taken over, wouldn’t you want the Americans on your side? They are a proud and free country, and rightly so. I love my country as much as you do, and I admire the tenacity of the Americans. Don’t forget, that the USA is made up from a population of hundreds of other countries. Including yours and mine. SO CHILL OUT ALREADY. ;o)
A proud CANADIAN. Um, we’re that huge country that sits on top of the USA. LOL
Just to set the record straight for anyone who actually cares about the truth, if you google 2004 Olympics you will see that all the medal counts are arranged by total medals. Of the 6 sites I looked at ALL were arranged by total medals.
Fattburguer sucks
usa sucks
I love when usa can’t stand they lose in something, they just look so stupid. Complaining about the Chinese age was just so totally embarrasing hahaha better stay quiet and accept you got your ass kicked, even if they were underage that is more humilliating, they just make fool of themselves by complaining
hahaha I love that
For all the morons saying it’s all about the total medals just go to the OFFICIAL website and check the OFFICIAL medal table where you can see China IS no. 1
Usa was the 1st yeah but in bronze medals hahaha
I’m U.S citizen but I’m embarrassed by this list. Anyone who accepts USA as 1st is either arrogant or stupid. By making this list, the author is basically saying that American are stupid and will accept anything fed to them. This pissed me off greatly.
Silver and bronze do not equal gold. If they are, wtf is the point of having 2nd and 3rd place. Total counts says 2nd and 3rd is the same as first. WTF. LOL.
If you want fair then give each type of medals their numerical worth. Example: G=3, S=2, B=1. U.S still doesn’t get 1st place.
If you just want to know who’s the greatest, then count the gold. You just don’t freaking get 1st place coming in 2nds and 3rds.
Rants over. Just pissed off cause a few idiots in the states thinks we are all dumb like them.
Where is the airplane?????
http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Chinese-stunt-doubles-board-plane-to-nowhere?urn=oly,103247
Hehehe.. USA has historically ranked as everyone else: most golds, most silvers then most bronzes.
This year China kicked USA’s ass real good, so you lame americans had to tally the winners by the total number of medals. Go ahead, FOOL yourselves as much as you want!
North-americans (yes, you don’t actually own the whole America) are so pathetic!
I guess you do have the president you deserve…
So this year the medal count will be different? Hum… It remembers me of one time when someone got elected through fraudulent means… Or maybe a place where the candidate that gets the most votes doesn’t necessarily wins…
Stupid ideas of stupid people…
They really think they have it all.
Sorry, loosers, but two flashing news for you:
- English comes from England, not US “of” A
- China won the 2008 Olympic Games
Next time, try throwing a plane over the games to see if you win something…
LOOSERS!!!!
All USA culture and language came from Europe! Only one thing came from USA —- arrogant & sore losser!
I wouldn’t live in US “of” A even if you paid me lots of money! I do speak English, but last time I checked, North-Americans weren’t responsible for it’s “invention”.
You sad and pathetic loosers forget what your country was made of: immigrants.
People came from Europe and butchered Native-Americans so to take their lands. Then, you brought Africans to enslave in your farms so you didn’t have to work.
And after beeing made of immigrants, what the “North-Americans” do? Laws to stop immigration…
Well, you’re right when you say lots of people want to live there… It’s better than some small city in Mexico!
American Dream? I think living with stupid North-Americans the rest of my life more of a nightmare than of a dream!
USA = American Nightmare!!!
And for the fools that say they can read English (Poquito): this place has LOTS of media that’s NOT from US “of” A and even if they are, they can be inteligent media like the excelent films by Mr. Moore. Too bad as****es like you can’t watch it because mommy won’t sit next to you and help you “think”.
Hehe, dear Americans, whole world is laughing to you with your “alternative” medal count table. You’re the most pathetic nation on this planet. I can’t understand how you can be SOOOO stupid.
This is the one and only way how to count medals. It ALWAYS been like this:

Nationalism was created by the elite to divide and control the human population. The Olympics is a propaganda tool to further enhance Nationalism, and everyone is falling for it.
While the brainwashed peons of one nation biker and war with the brainwashed peons of another nation, the elite, in their multiple mansion, sit back and live of the fruits of the peons labor.
lol yeh the tally is funny, im not that surprised that the american media would do it tho. The fact is success at the Olympics is dominated by how much money is put into development by a country. Better facilaties and more support = more gold. By this and per capita Australia wins ahahaha
We had a gold coast life guard just head out to the olympics for fun and he wins a gold and a silver
GW! Oh and yeh the judges are impartial and they have to be with world wide video coverage of the olympics.
Oh and why would everyone be getting up tight about underage commpetitors? The olympics is spose to be the best of the best, age doesnt really count. If you lose to someone because their better you can’t cry that their too young can you? lol The underage rule is there so that children don’t get put under to much pressure. Apart from that though of couse they should be allowed to compete if they are the best.
That table has been arranged just to make it look like the USA is the best lol Big number must mean big best eh? Only dumbass rednecks will fall for that one. Gold medals are all that matters and China pwned everyone. I was an Olympic Bronze Medalist once.. aha, like anyone would care about that. Gold or nothing.
china deserved it let them win
Why do we have to hear all the pro-Americans going on about how THEY won the most amount of medals. That THEIR medal table should be arranged in that order so THEY are at the top.
We We We. Us Us Us.
What input did any person who has posted on this board have into the winning of any medal at the Olympics?
If there was an Olympic Medal for being a jism stained porn troll, then yes you may be in with a shout. Something tells me that that wont happen for a while.
Let’s all point and laugh at America. It’s a bit crap.
@ man of the world-
First off, not all Americans voted for Bush so let’s cut the crap. As for the immigration laws, every single Country in the World has one. You can not enter a Country without a PASSPORT!
As for the Medal counts, yes China kicked some major Butt. Their national anthem was played the most on top of the podium’s. However, their Olympian’s are STATE funded. If you have any inclination of being an athlete the Country puts you into a paid program. Where as here in the US we actually have to pay quite a lot of money to raise an Olympian. Just ask the gymnasts or Michael Phelps. But enough ranting. Go OBAMA!
@ 44
The world doesnt hate America.
The world hate americans like #44.
Face it, dude. Youre a douche.
How does it feel to be hated by what? 6 billion people?
So, its funny the to hear the rest of the world complain and cry, but really what are you going to do about it………….. you know why we do it so you idiots don’t kill each other. And France don’t let me get started on yo u. So, instead of everyone trying to sneak across stay in your own country’s, maybe we wont have to have any immigration laws.
Screw the rest of the world
We may be hated by 6 billion but so what… let them cry and moan at home, who cares… I know America is not losing sleep over it… aw maybe you are…
Jokes on you ha ha ha
Stop crying already none of you were even in the Olympics…
@193 new – what is the PW of your rs?
Remember VIETNAM!
please let’s not be objective.
Truth is in the spirit of the Olympics, all the athletes and their respective countries did well.
However, it has to be agreed that the medal table should be sorted by gold and not total medals.
That’s all it is.
Till next Olympics. Can’t wait.
